Powrtouch Evoloution AWD Motor mover fitting nightmare!
I purchased a Powrtouch Evoloution AWD Motor mover directly from Powrtouch and Yates Caravans were given the job to fit it to my new caravan. My caravan previously had a 2WD motor mover fitted and as my caravan is a twin axle, I wanted greater movability from my caravan, so I paid £2300 to have this product fitted.
I was messed about for a week of not being able to get in contact with Yates Caravans despite various promises of callbacks. I finally got the job booked in, to be let down on the day being given the excuse that their van had broken down on route. I was told that I would not be able to be booked in for another week as the van would take time to be repaired however on complaining directly to Powrtouch, they could suddenly do the job the next day.
Gavin and his wife attended my property and spent the day fitting the motor movers. I heard Gavin constantly knocking the work of the previous Powrtouch installation and his work was apparently far superior. About 2 hours was spent trying to figure out wiring as they motor movers were working against each other and after several phone calls to Powrtouch, it was found that the wiring had been installed incorrectly.
The motor mover was fitted and minimal testing was conducted and their van was on my driveway so the new motor mover could not be put through its paces. The next day I have tested the motor mover and it was constantly jamming and making loud knocking sounds. I spoke to Powrtouch and they went through some basic fault finding with me and advised that Gavin would need to reattend to fault find the issue.
Yates caravans were messaging me on Whatsapp and were asking for multi meter readings of the battery during various cycles and questioning me on its use. They advised me they could not help and to speak to Powrtouch. On speaking to Powrtouch, they advised me that they had already asked Yates caravans to reattend to fault find the problem so were confused why I should contact them.
I have later received a call from Yates caravans to book the rectification work in. 1 week later Gavin has turned up, wouldn’t let me even fully explain the issue without talking over me and proceeded to spend the whole day fault finding the issue. At the end of the day they could not fix the issue and advised Powrtouch would be in contact.
On speaking to Powrtouch, they have made the decision to send an alternative engineer who has attended my caravan and was shocked with the work. The motors had been put on incorrectly and were not lined up, existing cables had been used, cables had been cut where they should have, terminals were loose and not making various connections, cables to the battery terminals were too short, the wires were messy inside, the wires on the underneath of the caravan were not trunked or clipped property and that is only to name a few issues. The engineer who attended was shocked with the installation and spent several hours putting it right. The engineer noted that my caravan wires had also been clipped the same way as the Powrtouch cables had been which should not have been touched. To add insult to injury, the negative terminal cover had been removed and taken and the locker door catch was missing a screw and was not closing.
The issues have been raised internally with Powrtouch however I will not be allowing Yates Caravans anywhere near my caravan and would not recommend them to fix a bicycle let alone a £30,000 caravan! They are a company who service caravans and have struggled to fit a basic motor mover!
