App is absolutely fraudulent

App is absolutely fraudulent! I downloaded what was branded as “SCANNER APP SCAN TO PDF” for free. Two days later, I received charges of and odd $0.49 by another app called SCANNER TO PDF WEEKLY, and subsequently was charged weekly $9.99 payments totaling some $130 over 13 weeks! I did not catch this until recently. I never authorized this app to charge me for something that I can get for free from Adobe or Acrobat. They are CROOKS, SCAMMING PEOPLE. BEWARE

Do not trust!

This company, based in Turkey, sells 3 different apps and uses paddle.com for receiving payments.

One of their apps is a ChatGPT knockoff. The app comes up on top with Google search, above the genuine ChatGTP from Open AI. The logo looks strikingly similar as well, so it's easy to get it wrong, especially if you are half asleep like I was at the time. The app looks and behaves the same at first glance, so only the URL gives it away. When I realised a few minutes later that I wasn't dealing with the authentic AI model, I immediately cancelled my subscription. Then I found a contact email in their help section. That email address websupport@chatbot[dot]ap is a bogus address, so I contacted paddle.net. There I got the message from their bot saying:

Message from TAPSUİTE YAZILIM HİZMETLERİ ANONİM ŞİRKETİ: "We've reviewed your request, but since your account shows more than 20 messages sent, we can't process a refund according to our refund policy."

I googled this long name and found the name xStudios. On Google Play, they also have Deepsearch AI Search Assistant, and Scanner App. Star wise, these apps seem to be scoring fine, but take a look at the customer reviews, and there you will find a different story. I don't expect to see my money back, and as far as I can tell, this business doesn't seem illegal. It's just far from ethical. Do yourself a favor and stay away.

Update* Paddle.com refunded me so big kudos to them.
