We were all really impressed with our chef for the evening, it was the icing on the cake to a fabulous weekend. Great communication with the team and chef before the event paid off, everything ran seamlessly and the service was exceptional! The meat and fish were superb and the sort of thing you find in the very best restaurants and the presentation had us all taking photos all night. Would recommend, absolutely.

WARNING!

We recently had Chef Samuel R (from Malmsbury) to cook for us. It was supposed to be a special birthday celebration. What a disaster!
My husband initially gave a good review on their website as on the face of it things "appeared" to have gone ok.
That was until I inspected my oven a couple of days later!!!!
My beautiful Brushed Steel Rangemaster oven (that I had lovingly polished and cherrished for more than 23 years) had been destroyed by Samuel R by using a scourer to the entire oven top during cleaning!
Can you believe a professional chef didn't know how to clean brushed steel and would treat your possessions in such a disrespectful manner (and then lie about it)! No, neither did we!
Yhangry dissapontingly decided to take the word of a Chef over their customer!
Chef Samuel R continually lied and deny any knowledge of what he had done. He even sent an unwarranted derogatory response to the situation which Yhangry quite rightly chastised him for.
Yhangry were quite frankly worse than useless in trying to help resolve this issue and point blank refused to use their insurance as they needed undeniable proof that the chef had caused the damage! How?
MY ADVICE: To anyone thinking of using Yhangry is to make sure that you take photographs of all of your kitchen equipment before the chef arrives. You then need to take a video of your chef while they are cooking and cleaning so that you don't find yourselves in the uneviable situation that we now find ourselves in!
If you do not take photgraphic evidence, you won't have a leg to stand on should your chef damage any of your property.
Yhangry's 24 hour notice policy still would not have made a difference if your chef decides to lie as Samuel R did!
Yhangry didn't even have the decency to repsond to our last email either.
Very poor customer service.
We are now having to spent a fortune tyring to find a specialist who can try to rectify the damage that one of Yhangry's chef's have caused!
PLEASE take this as a warning and use a different company for your special event (if you do not want to be left angry and you value your home and property)!
We are at present taking legal advice.

Thank you for sharing your experience. We’re genuinely sorry this has caused you so much frustration, but a few important details do need to be clarified.

The damage was reported to us a week after the event, not within a couple of days as mentioned. During this time, a 5-star review for the chef was posted the following day, which normally suggests everything went well and also gives time for any obvious issues to be noticed.

The chef in question has over 20 years of experience working with similar equipment, but we still took your report seriously and raised the matter with both him and our insurance team. Even though our policy asks for issues to be reported within 24 hours, we still pushed ahead on your behalf.

This also created challenges on our side, as the chef felt his professional reputation was being questioned without evidence, and the insurer maintained there were no grounds for a claim for visible damage reported after such a delay. Despite this, we took the matter as far as we responsibly could.

Because of the delay and the lack of clear, attributable evidence, the claim could not proceed. The determining factors were the delay and the lack of any conclusive link to the event, not a lack of willingness on our side. This is standard across all insurers and not unique to our platform.

We stayed in touch throughout and explained the final position. When you let us know you wouldn’t be using our services again, we were genuinely disappointed, as we really tried our best to help you.

We’re sorry the outcome wasn’t what you hoped for

The chef didn't turn up!

The chef didn't turn up for my 70th birthday celebration meal with my family. I had planned this occasion for months and had finalised the menu with the chef a few days before the event. I even offered to pick her up from the station so she would have help carrying everything.
She didn't contact me again even after I left several messages and rang her direct line.
Additionally yhangry support didn't send the printed menus in time for the event.
When I rang yhangry support after she was a no show at the expected time, they were very helpful and apologetic, they couldn't get hold of the chef either. They did process my refund immediately but we were left having to get take-away pizzas!!
Luckily, I have a very understanding family and we still had a happy evening together.

We’re sorry to hear about your experience—but we must clarify that this was not a yhangry booking. You chose to go off-platform and paid the chef directly, despite clear warnings on our site and messaging portal not to do so.

When bookings are made through yhangry, payments are securely held in escrow and only released after the event, giving full protection to the customer. Unfortunately, since your transaction was made privately, outside of our system, we had no involvement in the payment or agreement and are therefore unable to issue a refund.

We understand the situation is upsetting, but posting misleading reviews doesn’t reflect the facts. We strongly advise all customers to always book and pay through the platform to stay protected.

Our chef cancelled two days before our event. I'd been in regular contact with her and we were totally blindsided by the cancellation. It was such short notice we didn't have time to find a replacement. So disappointed.

What an incredible experience

What an incredible experience! From planning through to our event (an informal yet stunning evening of food and friends), Yhangry and our chef made sure everything was perfect and we all raved about the food. We followed the advice of others on trust pilot and chose our chef after reading his reviews and he was an absolute star, so accommodating and the food was sooooo good. A night to remember!

We did not receive our servive. They claim we never went the correct way of ordering but we were unaware of this as the Chef that we chose from their advertised chefs messaged us on the platform provided with his email so he could send us over an updated menu and we proceeded from there. No red flags for us and then he did not show up for me friend anniversary. He was apparently in a car crash but we have since been totally ghosted by him.
Even if yhangry say they have no responsibility for this (which I feel they should be somehow accountable or some fall back for a faulty system) the point is the customer service I received was absolutely shocking. They never responded when I asked for assistance (give the person their due who picked up the phone was helpful but certainly not the person on the other end of the email) so unprofessional and very poor business ethics.
If you do choose please be very careful how and to whom you pay and be ready for potential poor customer service. We were gutted being scammed and even if they does not fall on yhangery, just a bit of human empathy would have been appreciated.

The answer to this review has lies within it and is a case-in-point as per the customer service.
I have never once passed blame and just asked for help whilst the situation was ongoing not after and I received a torrent of negativity.

It appears that when this company works and things go according to plan then great but when it doesn't go according to their plan the service is shocking.
No help, no empathy, no trust and yet you remove your chef who apparently was in a crash? How is he doing BTW?

To clarify once again: this was not a yhangry booking. You chose to proceed with a chef off-platform and paid him directly via bank transfer, despite multiple clear disclaimers across our platform and within the messaging portal that warn against doing so.

We do not request direct payments, and we do not facilitate or endorse private transactions between customers and chefs. Our protections—like payment escrow, chef cancellation cover, and support—only apply to bookings made through yhangry. The chef in question was permanently removed from our platform as soon as we confirmed he had violated our terms.

You mention being disappointed in the customer support received over email. It’s worth pointing out that this frustration only began after your actions were brought to the forefront and it was explained that the payment you made had nothing to do with us. We always aim to be empathetic, but empathy doesn’t mean accepting blame where there is none.

Posting multiple reviews with incomplete context and accusations of “fraud” and “poor business ethics” doesn’t change the facts. You chose to go around the system we built to protect customers—and unfortunately, this was the result.

We genuinely hope you’re able to recover your funds. But we also stand by our position, and our team’s handling of this situation was both fair and professional.

Yhangry & Me..

I have been a chef for over 40 years working in 5 star hotels 2 & 3 rosette restaurants and three of my restaurants as chef/owner.
I retired a couple of years ago only to discover I missed the craziness and “buzz” of seeing people enjoy my food.
So just under a year ago I joined Yhangry as a private chef, what a decision!! It has been my privilege to host over 30 events (with an average 4.9 star rating) and have another 12 booked over the next couple of months. It has been a pleasure everything from birthdays, engagements, anniversaries hen/stag and family & friends dinner parties and in some amazing private homes.

This platform is totally useless and a utter waste of time, I could nt even get one booking from it.

The service on a whole is rubbish.
Communication, disgraceful, the online service were uncontactable, couldn't get through to anyone.
And as for there telephone lines, no one appeared to be available to pick up the phone.
If you sent a message on there chat line, it took 2 to 3 weeks to be heard, With little or no way of issues being resolved properly.

I Previously had a misunderstand with a customer who was interested in my service and booked a face to face visit with me to discuss various menu s and availability.

Now as a brand new Chef I was not actually made aware about any terms & conditions which stated that it was a breach of the Yhangry policy to go visit a customer without verified permission. It was not brought to my attention, I was not told this at all when I signed up.
When I created an account with Yhangry I was wrongly/falsely accused of posting pictures of food from online social media, but those pictures were actually taken from a formal workplace.
I was Falsely and wrong accused of taking customers of the Yhangry platform and getting so call customers to pay me directly away from the platform.

I went through all of this terrible experiences and spent so much time proving my innocence's and clearing me name. When it became clear to Yhangry that they had made these mistakes, they refused to apologize.
Two weeks ago a dubious, sad customer made a false allegation against me and my company, and instead of Yhangry to do a thorough investigation they decided to listen to the customers lies and simply deactivated my account.
A few months back before I joined Yhangry, my next door neighbor went through the same problem when she join, her account was deactivated for no good reason.
I was warned by her not to join, but I didn't listen.
Taking into consideration what happened, I have come to the horrible realization that this is Institutional and indirect racism against the ethic- minority group.
I wouldn't recommend any intelligent decent chef join this deluded Yhangry platform.

When we confronted you about this, instead of showing accountability, you doubled down — falsely accused us of targeting you, made serious and baseless claims about racism, and painted yourself as a victim. Let’s be honest: these tactics don’t hold up when the facts are this clear.

On top of that, encouraging customers to bypass the platform’s secure payment system, misrepresenting menus, and failing to meet basic standards of professionalism only further justified the decision to close your account. You were given the opportunity to respond to these concerns — and we documented everything.

This review appears to be a retaliatory attempt to deflect from your own actions. We stand fully behind our decision and will not allow false or defamatory claims to go unanswered.
