Review summary

Created with AI, based on recent reviews

Considering 107 reviews, reviewers overwhelmingly had a great experience with this company. Many customers appreciate the opportunity to report empty properties and receive a thank-you voucher, often an Amazon or M&S gift card, for their efforts. People find the process of submitting property details easy and straightforward, with many noting the quick turnaround for receiving their initial £20 voucher. Reviewers are also motivated by the potential to earn a percentage of the sale price if the company successfully purchases and renovates the reported property, seeing it as a good way to contribute to community redevelopment. However, some customers expressed strong disapproval of the company's business model, questioning their right to incentivize individuals to report empty homes and raising concerns about the impact on property shortages. A few other people also felt that the pricing of properties was unclear or that company representatives were dismissive when questioned about certain aspects of their operations.

Most pleasant of surprises

At our previous home, the owner of the house behind ours had been taken into care and his house had fallen into disrepair with weeds growing over 6 feet tall and windows being broken.

It was an eyesore, dangerous and at risk of attracting rats or squatters.

After googling who I could report it to, thinking I would find a local council link or number, I found You Spot Property so reported the property to them and left a few details.

I was sent a very polite and quick response along with an Amazon voucher, just for reporting it.

Time went on, COVID, moved house, etc. and never expected to hear anything back.

To my surprise I received an email last week, asking for a number to contact me on as there was news. I mean... we're talking over 5 years later but finally the property was bought, and true to their word, You Spot Property are awarding me 1% of the sale as a finders fee.

There's no way I'd have ever known the property had been bought, or who by, so honestly, they could have just left it at that but they tracked me down and gave me the news.

For 2 minutes of my time, I'm receiving 1% of the sale of a house and was the best news of the week.

You have nothing to lose and everything to gain so I can't say it loud clearly, if you know of a property that is in a similar state, just do it.

If this sounds like it's written by someone associated with the company; I can't help that, but it's not often that I can be bothered to leave reviews. This time I had to.

UPDATE: Can now confirm I’ve been fully paid and the money went into my bank account 3 days ago. I’d give 6 stars if I could haha.

I saw YouSpotProperty advertised on…social media

I saw YouSpotProperty advertised on Social Media and thought I’d send the details of a house near me that has been empty and left looking unloved for a few years. Within a month the property was checked and I received a £20 M&S voucher, quick way to make an extra bit of money. Very happy 😃

This is a great idea...keep spotting!

This is a great idea for making a little side cash for yourself, upload details of properties that you believe to be empty/derelict etc, this is checked efficiently and communication from You Spot Property is excellent in keeping you updated on what is happening. Less than a month later I received my M&S gift voucher of £20 with a further incentive of cash if the business goes on to purchase that property. Great idea and as the saying goes...keep spotting!

Worked like they said

I reported an empty property and got a £20 Amazon voucher as promised. A lot of places are already in their database but you lose nothing by trying. I'll be keeping an eye out for more empty properties...

Spotted 2 properties

Spotted 2 properties that I thought might meet the criteria of You Spot Property. I received confirmation that one of them did and received a M&S for £20 a short while later and an e mail informing me that if they were successful in buying the property I would receive 1% of any profit they made on the property.

A really simple and easy way to earn a little bit of side cash. I emailed them about a vacant property near to my house, and after they've performed their checks and made sure the property is indeed vacant and meets their requirements, they have sent me a £20 Amazon gift voucher! I did have to wait a couple of months, but for the sake of sending an email and taking a photo, it's well worth it.
Plus, if the house sells as a result of this, I'll receive a share of the sale price! It is capped at £1000 I believe, but again, for the sake of 1 email, it is absolutely worth it!

Reply from You Spot Property

Hi Kevin

I thought I would add some clarity and have the team look into your submissions.

‘We’ve double checked and 2 are occupied, 1 by an elderly gentleman, the other by by a lady who runs her business from there (feel free to google to confirm)
1 sold this year and 1 is currently on the market
And the final one had planning applied for in 2022 with works being completed albeit slowly, as you can see on google maps
Therefore the 1 star is very unfair.’

The point is that we love rewarding people from the £20 rewards to the 1% as all of it helps with our social media and PR exposure. If it’s rewardable nothing pleases the team more.

I came across you spot property on facebook

I came across you spot property on facebook and new of an empty house. I was a little sceptical but thought it was worth a couple of minutes to register the house. It took a little while for the house to be assessed but it qualified so I received the voucher and then a few months later I received a call to say I have my reward coming! It is definitely worth the couple of minutes.

100% recommended you spot property!

So I saw on social media about this company but was quite sceptical about it to begin with but while I was out walking my dog one day I see an abandoned house so I thought I would report it and see what happens. Two weeks later I received my Amazon voucher and was very happy.
Fast forward a year later I got a phone call to say they had purchased the house and was due £1044. Again I was very happy but had a slight doubt whether I would actually receive it. Today I had the money payed into my bank! I couldn’t believe it. Thank you so much you spot property! Would 100% recommended this company. What do you have to loose?

Amazed

I was given the information about this website and was very sceptical about contacting them. However to my amazement I have just received my £20 voucher and wait with anticipation to see if there is any further development. I really hope so, not only for any reward but because the empty property that is next door is very overgrown and becoming worrying.

Very easy to report empty properties

Saw an article about a woman who reported an empty property which was eventually sold. She got £20 Amazon voucher, then received a percentage of the sale price. I reported a property that I knew has been empty several years now. Got my voucher very quickly so just waiting to see if this goes further.

Received £20 Amazon voucher within 2 weeks of reporting a long empty property in my street. Simple and easy to report - just a photo and minimal details required. Will wait and see if You Spot Property succeed in purchasing and renovating.
