We’re sorry to hear that your experience with the new version has felt slow and frustrating at times. Please rest assured that the issues you pointed out are not being ignored.

Just to clarify some of the feedback you gave us:
Signature lines – The issue with the unnecessary dashes before the signature has been resolved in our latest update (version 3.0.19).

Bold formatting bug – The behaviour you described when toggling bold text and having the cursor jump unexpectedly is indeed a bug. We’ve documented it and it’s in our backlog to be fixed in an upcoming release.

Re: repetition in subject lines – The “RE:” duplication occurs only in specific cases where the incoming message already includes it (e.g. “RE:” or “FWD:”). Zone Webmail does not add it repeatedly by default, but we understand this can be visually messy depending on how other systems handle subject lines.

We recognize your point about not changing things that already work. While our goal is to modernize and improve usability, this should never come at the cost of reliability or efficiency. You’ve raised valid concerns, and your real-world input is incredibly valuable for us – even if it feels like you're doing "test work" for free, please know it's not going unnoticed.

When connecting zone with Gmail

When connecting zone with Gmail, it makes emails "read" status even when actually not read or opened.

We understand your concern about emails being marked as "read" when accessed through Gmail. This behaviour is due to Gmail using the POP3 protocol when connecting to external mailboxes, such as those hosted by Zone.

POP3 is designed to download messages from the server, and during this process, it does not retain the original read/unread status of emails. Instead, messages are marked as read as soon as they are fetched. Unfortunately, this is a technical limitation of the POP3 protocol itself, and not something Zone can control or modify.

We are not sure, why Gmail decides to use POP3 for such connections, while other protocols like IMAP offer more advanced features (such as syncing read/unread status), Gmail currently does not support IMAP for external mail fetch.
