Considering 249 reviews, most reviewers were let down by their experience overall. Customers frequently struggled with terrible customer service, finding it almost impossible to reach real human representatives instead of useless automated assistants that completely failed to resolve technical problems. Users also experienced deeply frustrating technical issues, cumbersome user interfaces, and unexpected annual subscription charges that renewed automatically without providing any clear notifications beforehand. People felt that the overall service quality deteriorated significantly over time, causing massive headaches. Though some reviewers were happy with specific aspects, noting that they had a good experience using the professional version or appreciating certain helpful meeting functionalities along with commendable work ethics.

Bad quality and bad service

The quality of the recording even on the paid accounts is poor. I thought I had closed my account but after 3 months was billed again. When I pointed out that it must be a mistake and could they refund the money they said T&C's say NO. Another greedy company offering garbage service now riddled with annoying AI add-ons that drivce you crazy.

Zoom Recording Complicated

Zoom recording is unnecessarily complicated - confusing - and frustrating. We wasted 90 minutes of our time and effort our guests time conducting an interview that we turned recording "ON" but Zoom didn't record. We changed to Google Meet- much better! Simple to operate. One button click and record.

AI Meeting Summary Failed on Our First Day as a Paying Customer

We upgraded to a paid Zoom subscription specifically to use AI Meeting Summary for our committee meetings. Ironically, on the very day we purchased the subscription, the feature failed.

The AI Meeting Summary was configured to start automatically, as it had done successfully in previous meetings. Because we trusted the feature, nobody took manual meeting minutes. Instead, the summary remained stuck in a “generating” state and was produced a week later after continuous email support.

I contacted Zoom Support immediately. The case was escalated through Tier 1, Tier 2, and eventually Tier 3 Engineering over the course of almost a week. During that time, our committee was waiting for the meeting notes, but no resolution was provided.

In the end, I had to spend several hours reconstructing the meeting minutes, decisions, and action items from memory and from a recording I had fortunately made on my phone. Had I not made that recording, we would have permanently lost the record of an important committee meeting.

To Zoom’s credit, the support staff were polite and acknowledged the seriousness of the issue. However, the outcome was disappointing. After recognising the operational impact and the lengthy escalation, the only compensation offered was a AU$30 account credit toward a future subscription.

The biggest issue isn’t the money...it’s trust. AI-generated meeting notes are a feature you either rely on or you don’t. If they fail without warning, and there is no timely recovery, organisations need to know that before deciding to depend on them for important meetings.

My advice is simple: if your meeting is important, don’t rely solely on Zoom AI Meeting Summary. Keep an independent recording or have someone take manual minutes, because if the summary fails, you may find yourself recreating everything from scratch.

I hope Zoom improves both the reliability of this feature and the way it responds when failures have a real operational impact.

Spam Emails Galore - Go To Google Meet

Zoom have fallen foul of the “Too Big” disease. They’re now being used for scam fake and spam email invites. This makes a person NOT responsible for the spamming and Zoom DO NOT STOP even when you hit unsubscribe. Next time I get a spam message I’m recording the whole thing and reporting to the standards agency. The same person has mailed me 3 times in 3 days and I keep getting the emails. This has been going on for years. Zoom - Make it STOP!!

Terrible and in order to record meeting…

Terrible and in order to record meeting in HD u need to have the business account so I upgrade to business account then I need to verify the business account. Then once verified I meed to fight with an AI voice on the phone for 7 mins in order to get access to a human who then tells me hd recording has to be activated even though its a feature of the business account. This needs to be done by another dept in America while I am
In the Uk so I may need to wait a couple of days. Complete joke of a company and will never use zoom again

SCAM

SCAM! Refuses to let me downgrade my monthly storage. Storage pricing is horrendous.

Clunky, awful interface.

I moved to StreamYard for webinar, YouTube live, recording, etc. One of the best business decisions I've made.

They probably got bought by some private equity or hedge fund, and they're just completely screwing the last dollars out of a dead brand, like often happens.

Unreliable and take your money

I never thought a major platform like Zoom could drop the ball this catastrophically, but here we are. I scheduled a crucial work meeting—the kind you only get one shot at—and trusted Zoom’s recording feature to do its job. Spoiler: it didn’t.

Despite everything showing as “recording,” Zoom failed to save anything. No video, no audio, no trace the meeting even happened. Hours of preparation, coordination, and critical information gone because Zoom couldn’t perform the single task I relied on it for.

And the worst part?
When I reached out to support, hoping for at least some accountability or a refund for a service that objectively didn’t work,

It’s outrageous that a company can fail to provide the service you paid for and then refuse to offer any kind of compensation or remedy. At best it’s terrible customer service, and at worst it feels like they take your money and vanish when something goes wrong.

If you rely on recordings for work, documentation, compliance, or anything even remotely important, look elsewhere. A platform this unreliable—paired with support this unhelpful—is not worth the risk.

Zoom didn’t just disappoint me; it undermined a pivotal moment in my professional life and then refused to take responsibility. I won’t be trusting them again.

Overall Zoom has just really dropped…

Overall Zoom has just really dropped the ball. Their processing time takes way too long for starters. On top of that, the ability to trim a recording doesn’t work well, nor is it easy to figure out how to do. I attempt to download the three files to take the work to another platform to get what I need done, and even the downloads are a pain. I’m going to have to try moving from a Mac system to a Windows system to see if it works better - but overall, you don’t want to use Zoom.

A Reliable, Evolving Tool for Everyday Use

I’ve been using Zoom for over three years now, and it’s become a core part of how I connect and collaborate. While I can’t speak to their customer service—simply because I’ve never needed to contact them—that alone says something about the reliability of the platform.

What keeps me coming back is the ease of use. So many of Zoom’s features feel intuitive, and bringing new users onto the platform is simple, even for those who aren’t very tech-savvy. That accessibility makes a big difference when working across different teams and client groups.

Zoom continues to roll out new features regularly, which adds ongoing value to my subscription. The amount of functionality included—screen sharing, recording, breakout rooms, webinars, and more—gives me more than enough to run everything from team meetings to client presentations.

If I had one wish, it would be for a higher default clarity in image quality. But even that hasn’t been a deal-breaker.

When I have a question or want to learn something new, I can usually find what I need through their help center, or from the wide range of third-party tutorials available online. Zoom’s popularity means that guidance is never hard to find.

All in all, Zoom has proven to be a stable, ever-evolving platform that I trust. It continues to meet my needs and exceed expectations—quietly and consistently. That’s why I remain a customer.

ZOOM SETTINGS DON'T WORK!!!!

Awkward as it is, I went into settings and chose the settings to record separate audio files for meeting participants. There are only ever two people in my recorded sessions.
Despite the settings being enabled, Zoom does NOT record the tracks separately. Never.
Also, I enabled their AI to create a transcript, summary and notes of the recording. Guess what? It doesn't do that either.
Also - SUPPORT IS NON-EXISTENT, even for my PRO account,
What a rotten company and foul, lying unworking unacceptable technology,
Riverside.fm ALWAYS records separate audio tracks without any need to go to settings. AND it creates a transcript and summary and notes without being asked. Every time.
I still have months left on my paid ZOOM account but clearly it's time to move on, There are better and more decent and acceptable platforms out there.
If I was allowed to give Zero stars, I would have.

Poor Handling of Account Security Issue

I hosted via Eventbrite. The incident involved an unknown participant changing their display name to mine and repeatedly sending recording requests, raising serious concerns about potential unauthorized access or hacking.

Upon reporting this issue to Zoom’s support team, I was informed that they had “taken action against the disruptor.” However, when I requested further clarification on what specific actions were taken, they simply closed my ticket without providing any explanation. I attempted to submit another request to gain a better understanding of their security response, but my ticket was closed again without any resolution.

My Concerns:
1. Lack of Transparency – Zoom refuses to disclose what actions were taken, leaving me unsure if my account security has been properly addressed.
2. Poor Customer Support – Instead of investigating further or providing detailed assistance, my ticket was closed multiple times without resolution.
3. Potential Security Breach – The fact that an unknown individual was able to impersonate me in my own Zoom meeting and request recording access suggests a possible security vulnerability that Zoom has failed to address properly.

Requested Resolution:
• A clear explanation of what actions Zoom took against the disruptor.
• Assurance that my account has not been compromised and that my security settings are intact.
• A review of Zoom’s support response policies to ensure legitimate security concerns are properly investigated rather than dismissed without explanation.

I believe Zoom has a responsibility to provide transparency and security assurance to its users, especially when account impersonation and potential hacking attempts occur.

Works until you have a problem

Zoom is convenient to use for video-teleconferencing until you have a problem, such as a breach of security on your account. They have absolutely no customer service for the average person. The recording says you have to have a premium account to get any adviser other than a chatbot.

SLOW SLOW to convert it into video

SLOW SLOW to convert it into video

I am using zoom for 5 or 6 years. Still using the same computer, the same screen, the same graphics card, but it has become so slow that I am wasting an hour of my time at the end of the meeting to get the recording out, as I have to send it asap to my client.
It is not acceptable, it used to be much faster, I refuse to use the cloud to do the conversion, I wonder if zoom is forcing its customers to work on the cloud which is not an acceptable option for me.

This is the worst customer service I…

This is the worst customer service I have ever experienced. Zoom has overbilled me by $2,744. AND I can not get through to anyone to solve it. I've submitted multiple tickets, they close them without responding. I have called, they transfer my call and say they can not help me.

The charged me an overage fee of $2,578.50 for cloud recording. My previous bills where $26.75.

There was no notification that I was going over on storage. The amount showed $10/month for storage.

Even if I had been charged the most amount on the website for 2T of storage it would have been $200 a month - NOT $2,578.50.

I can not change my plan or cancel. There is no place on the website to do that except through email. I have emailed they will not respond to me.

I can not get through to customer support on the phone unless I pay for upgraded support. However, I just paid $2744 and they still will not talk to me.

This is the WORST experience I have had yet. These policies have got to be against consumer rights.

Consumers MUST have a way to cancel with a service and companies must be required to disclose erroneously high overage fees if a consumer is accumulating a bill equal to TEN THOUSAND percent more.

This is ridiculous.

I contacted them immediately following the charge and I still have had no follow up or resolution. Even though I was told multiple times they would do so.

Zoom is lying to their Pro Account…

Zoom is lying to their Pro Account users about Cloud recording in 720p. They are actually recording in 640p unless enabled higher (and good luck finding where to admin that), AND.... only if Zoom ALSO enables it on THEIR side on a per-account basis!

That's like saying the car comes with air conditioning, but only if you go back to the dealer and have them install it.

But wait, there's more... 3 out of the 4 help desk agents I connected with **did not know any of this.** I have spent over 2.5 hours on this issue and my promised account recording quality is STILL not enabled.

Mendacious and slimy.

NO CUSTOMER CARE WHATSOEVER

Zoom has gotten too big too fast, and has ZERO concern for its many users. COVID necessitated me to take my senior yoga classes on line. I pay for a monthly subscription. When I accumulated too many files, zoom stopped recording my classes with little notice. I began furiously deleting files to make room but there is a 30 day wait until the space becomes available, and when I asked for help, I was told I get no support even with a paid subscription. What?! Bottom line: THEY DON’T CARE.

Zoom keeps sending me incorrect threatening emails

Zoom keeps sending me threatening emails that I am exceeding my cloud recording level. But it's empty. When I contact Zoom, they pass me on to a chatbot that seems unable to understand the simplest of questions. Really poor UX, and a company as big as Zoom should know better.
