What an absolute nightmare
What an absolute nightmare. I have Genki and had a major accident playing sports. I have terrible nerve pain down my leg, numbness and serious difficulty walking.
I got an MRI which Genki reimbursed me for and it showed I severely herniated a disc in my lower back. The doctor is recommending surgery.
Genki just denied the claim. (Well, it’s not Genki, it’s their insurer called Square Life but as they are linked, they really are one and the same).
Square life is saying this is an elective surgery. This is absolutely insane. I can barely move, am taking pain meds to get through the day and get to sleep, can’t bend forward and the physical therapy I got it made it worse.
Just a terrible and incredibly painful experience.
UPDATE: In response to Genki’s response.
*You and I both know this is not a preexisting condition.*
This is an acute sports injury from December 19th that resulted in multiple herniated discs, numbness and pain down my leg. I saw the doctor on December 25th. Merry Christmas to me 🎄.
I understand that you are well trained in your communication style. You do it well. But again, you and I both know that you will find any loophole to not provide the coverage that your client thought he had. You’ve found a way to do that. It is immoral and cruel.
An elective surgery is something that doesn’t need medical intervention to heal. Based on my inability to walk for 3+ weeks now and the Doctor’s recommendation, that is clearly not the situation here. Here, you have a patient in serious need, who’s lost weeks of work and thousands of dollars, and who you refuse to cover.
I honestly couldn’t give you a worse review. You are the shame of the medial system, unkind and harmful. I felt so grateful to have insurance when I went to the doctor and he ordered an MRI. I felt so grateful to have coverage. And then so Incredibly demoralized by your viscously cruel actions. If I had the money to sue you, I would. But instead I have to spend that on a surgery for something that is so far from “elective”.
Stay healthy? Get well soon? 🌱
Don’t be so patronizing. You are really terrible people.
