Misleading dental coverage
I’ve been using Genki because they market themselves as nomad-friendly, but when it comes to actual claims, they hide behind their underwriter (Squarelife) and ridiculous technicalities.
I cracked a perfectly healthy tooth on a hidden bone in my food in Egypt. It was an unexpected, sudden event. Squarelife denied the claim, stating that biting down on a hard object is an "occlusal injury" and not an accident.
According to them, for dental to be covered, you basically need to be hit in the face, fall off a bike, or be in a car crash. They explicitly told me that unless there is "impact to the jaw/face" or injury to other body parts, a broken tooth doesn't count.
The "Emergency Dental" coverage is practically useless for real-life scenarios. If you think you’re covered for eating mishaps, you aren’t. Avoid.
UPDATE: after this review they decided to refund me. Great but not the way it should work.
