Review of Halfords Autocentres
Questionable Integrity
I had a dispute with Halfords Autocentre in Kettering over poor communication and poor work. I had to go to independent arbitration as their customer service was appalling. Their online chat "experts" were in India. They had no expertise and their grasp of the English language was not great. They would assure me that they could take action that never happened. The telephone "experts" were in South Africa and would also give me assurances that things would be done, or that things were possible, which, likewise, never happened. Eventually an agreement was reached, not 100% satisfactory, which the autocentre tried to alter by adding on charges.
Part of the agreement was a £50 e-gift card. The deal was that once the cost was paid and the car collected I would receive the card. The car was paid for and collected on Friday 13/03/2026. I did not receive the e-gift card until Monday after having had to chase it up. Their excuse was that the car was not collected until Saturday when I have proof that the car was collected on the Friday (I received the scrap value as soon as the car arrived in the yard). Either Halfords are lying or the Autocentre did not inform them straight away for their own reasons (hmmm!).
Don't use Halfords. Rubbish customer service and lacking in integrity.

Highly Recommended
Although they only had one driver on the day, they put it out to a contractor and my car was picked up when needed. The money was in my account quickly. The service and courtesy far outstripped that shown by the company that my car was collected from.

Poor Customer Service
They helped me find and finance a car but when I called today I was met by an abrupt, rude gentleman who had absolutely no telephone manner. This is not good customer service.

Avoid Halfords Autocentres, Especially Kettering
I had to keep contacting them and was constantly told, "It will be ready tomorrow." They didn't contact me until the third day when they had suddenly discovered a whole bunch of work that they should have picked up much earlier. I needed my car and, as Halfords do not do courtesy cars, I had to hire one at my own expense. Meanwhile their customer service department is based in India (online) and South Africa (telephone). They are described as "experts" and will say they can get something done when neither is true. In response to my complaints, Halfords offered me a £22 discount and a £50 Halfords gift card. After going through arbitration I got a further £100 off, but I would say avoid Halfords at all costs. They think they are too big for accountability.
