Fast and efficient

Response to initial request was very fast from office staff. Charlie was friendly and did a great job, fast and efficient and explained what he was doing. Initial rate was competitive, but the additional work was a bit pricey for what it was.

In response to my review 0800 Homefix Ltd they said that couldn’t forward the report to me because I gave them the wrong email address. 0800 Homefix ltd forwarded the first invoice for over £144 to me via email. I called the company Thursday and Friday requesting the report and at no point they mentioned incorrect email. It was only when I asked for my money back that they said I gave them the wrong email. They weren’t interested in anything apart from money and over inflating price for a straight forward job.

We’re sorry to hear you remain dissatisfied with your experience. We would like to clarify the full sequence of events based on our records.

An engineer attended your property and carried out a full assessment of the leaking kitchen tap. During the visit, the tap was inspected, isolated, and partially dismantled to identify the fault. It was found that the internal hot cartridge had seized, meaning a safe and reliable repair could not be completed on site. As a result, a recommendation was made to replace the tap and install isolation valves. A quotation was issued based on these findings.

Following the visit, a job report was generated and sent to the email address provided on the booking. When it became apparent there was an issue with receipt, we requested confirmation of the correct email details and resent the report accordingly. We understand you state you have not successfully received it.

We also attempted to contact you by telephone today to discuss your concerns directly, however we were unable to discuss the issue at that time.

As there are multiple outstanding concerns regarding both communication and the report itself, this matter cannot be fully resolved through review responses alone. We would therefore ask that you contact our office directly so we can review the complete job file, correspondence history, and ensure the report is received and any remaining issues are properly resolved.

We are ready to assist as soon as we are able to speak with you directly.

Homefix’s same day service is great

Homefix’s same day service is great, with a speedy response to my request on Checkatrade Dean from Homefix quickly sorted out a toilet blockage and related leak and also gave me good advice on possible future work. Great service and clear communication, many thanks!

Excellent service

This was a last-minute call out to detach a waste disposal unit for access reasons. The company was super responsive and professional. Gave me reliable pricing information. The plumber was John Mills - excellent all round. Professional, diligent, efficient and friendly. Highly recommended.

Misleading charges and a really upsetting experience

I’m very disappointed with Homefix. I explained clearly during the booking call that a plumber had already tried everything and that machinery would be needed. I asked directly whether the engineer would come with the right equipment. I was quoted £120 for the first hour, and not once was I told there would be an extra £385 + VAT machinery charge.

When the engineer arrived, he confirmed exactly what I had said — machinery was required — and only then told me the extra cost. By that point, it was hours before our festival, and I felt completely stuck.

I was also never told that payment had to be made upfront, which left my wife suddenly pressured into paying on the spot. She was extremely upset by how the call was handled, and even the engineer apologised for how she had been spoken to.

When I raised all of this with the company, they dismissed the concerns and took no responsibility for failing to disclose the charges or the upfront payment requirement. The whole experience has been stressful and very upsetting, and I expected far better transparency and basic understanding.

As outlined in our previous correspondence, the initial booking covered a first-hour assessment. Any further work identified beyond that — including the use of specialist machinery — falls outside that scope and is quoted separately once the engineer has assessed the situation on site. In this case, the requirement for additional equipment was confirmed during the visit, a quote was provided, and the work only proceeded once it had been accepted and payment authorised.

We understand your concerns around communication; however, our records (including the quotation, invoice, and email correspondence) show that the additional charges were clearly presented and agreed to before the work went ahead. Our terms regarding upfront payment are also set out in advance, and while we appreciate this may not have been your expectation, we are unable to proceed with works without payment being made.

With regard to the call you referenced, we have reviewed the recording. While we recognise this was a stressful situation, we did not find evidence of our team member acting inappropriately. The call reflects an attempt to clarify how you wished to proceed, particularly as concerns were being raised at the time.

We do regret that the experience did not meet your expectations, but based on a full review of the job and communications, our position remains unchanged.

Brilliant work and great service

Had a great experience using Homefix. Booking the service was very easy and they had a quick turn around to have someone coming to my flat to look at the issue.
Luke was very friendly, capable and knowledgeable. He was clear in his report what the issue was and what to do next to solve the drainage issue I had in my flat.

I would highly recommend this company, their prices are fair and they offered a great service.

Unreliable, unresponsive, and not worth the hassle!

I wasted a whole morning due to this company. I was initially assured that their request to push my appointment back 2 hours would still guarantee a morning slot (10–11am), but later received confirmation for a much wider 10–5 window.

I was told I’d receive a call-back to confirm the engineer’s arrival, but never heard anything. Instead, the engineer contacted me directly to say he had multiple jobs before mine, showing the office had no clear idea of his schedule.

On top of this, their phone lines were not working properly, making it impossible to get updates. When I did get through after hours of trying, this was something they shrugged off. I was also not informed in advance that the required part could not be replaced on the same day (something I expressly asked when booking) which the engineer confirmed immediately. They were too keen on making false promises, which was the trend throughout my conversations with them.

Resorting to email, I was able to cancel the booking and request a refund - please do not pay up front like I did...

0800 HomeFix's service is disorganised, communication is poor and false assurances consistently made. Please avoid this company!

An immediate call right after post the job

After posted the job 2mins on Checkatrade, received a call claim they are interested in the job. However she is not able to describe any information I shared in the job details- even the job title. When I asked her more details about my job, she hand up my phone. It feels like a fake account to collect customer’s enquiry and resell it to other traders. This might explained why some of their traders ask more money after arrive. Because they don’t care the reputation as it wasn’t their actual name at the first place.

£120 call out charge then wanted £900 to fit a toilet which is not working properly and want £1800 to come back to finish the job they have done badly and stood over me demanding I pay immediately, the guy was unprofessional making several personal phone calls during the day.

AVOID, DO NOT PAY £120 UPFRONT

I booked and paid in advance for a bidet installation, expecting a standard toilet bidet. The engineer identified the product was only suitable for sink installation but proceeded without contacting me.
Installing a bidet to a sink tap is clearly different from a toilet water supply, both in function and cost. I was charged £120 for a straightforward installation that does not meet the intended purpose.
The company declined any partial refund, despite this being avoidable with proper clarification.

Our engineer has confirmed that the bidet supplied was not suitable for installation on the toilet and could only be fitted to the sink. We understand this was explained to the person at the property at the time, and we were advised to proceed with the installation on that basis.

Having reviewed the job notes and call details, we’ve not found any indication that a toilet installation was specifically requested in advance. Our engineer attended and completed the installation requested using the product supplied. Unfortunately, the item purchased is not compatible for toilet fitting, so we’re unable to return and install it there. If you would like us to attend again to fit a different, suitable product, we’d be happy to arrange this as a new chargeable visit.

We do appreciate your feedback and are sorry this experience did not meet your expectations.
