Conned my wife into buying a Lynx E MTB…

Conned my wife into buying a Lynx E MTB large size and she is 5 foot 4. $2500 for a bike that does not fit. The cheap "Maximus" not "Maxxis" tyres punctured in the first week. They were fitted with HP tubes designed for a racing bike running 160 PSI tyres not a tyre with maximum pressure of 65 PSI. Didnt even throw in a pump or a puncture kit lights or even suggest them. So had to walk 2 hours home with two flats. Rang the Adelaide store couldnt have given a stuff said come in and we can sell you a pump and a puncture kit.
Not an option as she had to drive two hours there to pick it up in the first place and 2 hours back. It was fitted with a TDF racing saddle too totally unsuitable. So a gigantic rip off zero care zero service just deplorable conduct and taking advantage of someone. Even worse they demanded $160 to unlock the speed as it was to be ridden exclusively on private property no speed limit applies. Just a terrible experience and they refuse to take it back when its totally unsuitable for what she wanted. Unconscionable conduct of the highest order so have to go through Consumer Affairs and we will.

99Bikes Carrum Down, 100% Service

This relates to their Carrum Down, VIC store.
The gentleman who stayed back to change my daughters tire and put on the new pegs, just so I wouldn't have to come back another day, your customer service was excellent! I have, and will continue to recommend you to family and friends.

Big shout out to Denzel from Bike99

Big shout out to Denzel from Bike99! I took my son’s bike to have the crank looked at over the weekend and even though Denzel was busy serving other customers, he said he’d have a look to see if he could fix it which he did!! It was just a simple changing of a bolt but what I really appreciated was Denzel’s willingness and eagerness to help. Thanks Denzel, you rock!

Worst Experience for Standard Bike Service

I handed my Road Bike in for a standard service and discussed with one of the mechanics that I would also want to exchange the handle bar tape.
When I returned to pick it up a week later, the bar tape was not replaced. I asked again to have this done and told the mechanic that I would like to go for the cheapest option possible. Again I waited a week to pick up my bike, only to find out that I was charged an additional $100 for a new tape and the service to change the bar tape, even though this should have been part of my initial service. When asked about the bar tape, I was told that this was not the cheapest option of bar tape. Only after I complained was the additional charge taken off my bill.
I then cycled home, only to find out that the gears were not shifting properly and the chain was falling off when shifting from the small to the big chain ring.
Again I returned to the shop and left the bike there for it to be fixed AGAIN. Another week later when I returned, no one was able to tell me what the mechanic had changed/ repaired as there were no notes on file.
This has been the most frustrating and disappointing experience, as you would expect your bike to be looked after and trust that it will run without issues after a full and expensive service. I also felt like staff members were trying to rip me off adding material that was more expensive than agreed upon.
Will definitely not recommend.

Crap service

We purchased a mountain bike for our 14 year old son in 2020. He only used it for mountain biking twice and he has barely used it. However we have had to repair the chain and wheels because it got bend twice. The wheel wasnt bent because of mountain biking but doing a little burn out on grass. Last month we got the wheel replaced because it was bent again. They advised us that the wheel (one wheel) isn't the strongest and also recommended replacing the chain. I have to stress this bike was $1100 which isnt cheap for a 14 year old child- and being a mountain bike you have an expectation that what they sell is safe for the child to do what it is specified to do. A little grass burn out should not bend a wheel and the cahin should be cheap. If he did more mountain biking what could have happened to our son? Dont sell a bike and then to keep the price down by adding cheap parts - or advise that its cheap parts. I am stunned that this business could have played with my sons safety. We could ahve bought a bike for the fraction of the cost and it would have been a tank. One expects mountain bikes to be strong and durable not flimsy. The new wheel and chain cost another $500. We did conact the business directly but there was no care and no response. Why bother with purchasing from a bike shop??? They were not very friendly either and rather annoyed with us questioning why cheap wheels and chain were sold initially. Wouldnt buy from them again.

Hi Jen,

Really sorry to hear about the experience you have had with your sons bike and with our store.

Our bikes are installed with high quality items that are designed to withstand the tracks! Unfortunatley, some parts can come with some problems that if they are detected within the products warranty period, can be replaced at no cost to you!

We apologise for the run around you had and have passed your feedback onto the relevant teams to review.

Sold a demaged,bike.

Went to pick up a new bike I had purchased online "Click and collect", I was expecting it to come in a box and I would have to assemble it, it was already assembled when I got there, they told me they had done it for me, I had to wait 20 minutes while they did a safety check.

When I was putting the bike into the car I noticed it was a demo bike, it had scratches all over the bike down to the metal, there was rust on the bell and the plastic on the gears was all faded.

I took the bike back straight away, they apologised and offered me a discount.

I said No, and asked for a full refund, they gave me a twenty dollar voucher.

They wasted hours of my time, and I am not sure what would have happened if I got the bike home before noticing the damage?

True Professionalism

I visited 99 bikes at Stanmore yesterday while out on a ride. I didn't have a service booking at the workshop but a bicycle mechanic named Allan was available to see me straight away. I had gear changing issues while during my ride. What I thought the problem was, Allan clearly explained the root causes to me. He educated me of the issues and solutions. Allan also explained the complete rectification process and professionally answered all of my questions. Overall, my experience at the 99 bikes, Stanmore, workshop with Allan's assistance was very positive. Allan was professional, informative and reassuring. This is a perfect example of 100% CUSTOMER SERVICE. Thank you Allan 🙂

Refused Service and Warranty

I purchased a new bike from Burleigh store and moved to the Sunshine Coast 2 months after. Burleigh assured me that I could redeem my new bike purchase free service at any store but Kawana refused and informed me that I had to go back to Burleigh to redeem it. It's 9 months later and it started having problems so I booked it into the Kawana store for a warranty check. They informed me that the bike was unsafe to ride because it hadn't been serviced and it would cost me over $200 in repairs before they could look at the bike. Mind you that my wife is 56 years old and rides casually like you would expect a 56 year old woman would. I've just been to collect the bike and they acted like they did me a favor because they didn't replace the cassette like they first quoted. So the cost ended up being $193 in total. This price is made up of a $14 chain, $10 brake pads and $169 for labour. I have put in a case with Fair Trading as I feel like I've just been robbed. I will never purchase anything from this store again in my life

99 Bikes Stanmore Waste Customers Time

The bike shop is soo busy. I booked a service on 3 January for the earliest appointment which was the 19th of January. I got a reminder on the 18th. I went in at 0900 on the 19th and waited about an hour and 99 bikes never opened. There were 3 other people waiting too. It seems that they must have the technology to notify people scheduled for service when they choose not to open. This is stupefying bad customer service. I think Trustpilot should add the ability to give a "0" rating.

Illegal for me to change a spoke - but this shop can do it.

Took the bike into 99 Bikes to replace a spoke and fit mudguards. Was then told "We can't work on that as it is illegal [for us to work on it]" and it was not made in Australia. 99 bikes can do as they please but

1: the bike was made in Australia - to Australian Stds.
2: Even if it was over 250 W it is not illegal in Australia only on highways.

The guy was so abrupt and rude in his tone, and the fact that after he delivered his sentence (whilst cancelling the booking) he turned his back on me in a basic "we are done here", on the plus side he told me a shop that would service it - although I am non-plussed as to why it would be illegal in his shop and not the other.

Anyhow, no point arguing with someone who has already made their mind up so left, and will not be buying any bikes or material from 99 bikes again, even if they are the cheapest.
