This system is very easy to use…

This is a system that is very easy to use and understand. You dont need to have an IT certificate to get the very best anonymity out of this and it provides truly excellent coverage for your needs.
Im very impressed with the range of simple to use options for staying anonymous and how well they work after a pen test.
I can hardly believe the level of service provided for the money I paid for this.

The app itself is great - BUT the support?

The app itself is great. The people working for them ruin the entire experience if you need support.

Terrible connection, useless customer support, and no refund!

Avoid this provider! The service only worked for a couple of weeks before it completely failed to connect.
What makes it worse is their customer service. They are extremely irresponsible, perfunctory, and completely unhelpful. When I asked for a refund since the product doesn't work, they just used their terms and conditions as an excuse to dodge liability and deny my request.
I had to waste more money to buy another VPN service. Surfshark just takes your money and shrugs their shoulders when their service fails. Be aware before you buy!

Awful terms of service

Awful terms of service, has no problem taking money from long time customers without providing service, customer service is useless with no decision making ability, and websites frequently block you when vpn is activated.

Hi Alexander, sorry to hear about your experience. If websites are blocking access while connected, please try switching to a different server location or changing the protocol in Surfshark -> Settings -> VPN Settings -> Protocol, as this can often help with accessibility issues. As for the billing and service concerns, we’d like to take a closer look at your case and review what happened. Since you’ve already contacted support, please reach out to us directly at miles@surfshark.com.

VPN Never Automatically Starts Up

This VPN has never automatically started upon computer startup, even though all the settings are set to do so. This means you have to remember to open the app and launch the program, and usually download an update and wait 5 minutes for the install, every time your computer restarts, which with a PC is usually twice a week due to its updates. Very often, it also blocks the Internet connection on my older PC until I restart it, and it takes even longer to update the VPN on that.

Risk of losing refund rights due to unclear automated bans.

I subscribed to a 27-month plan, but my account was suddenly banned after only two weeks due to "usage anomalies" detected by an automated system.
No prior warning was given.
Initially, I was told that the 30-day money-back guarantee would not apply due to this "violation," meaning I would lose my entire 27-month prepaid fee for just 14 days of use.

The rules regarding "excessive traffic" remain unclear, which is concerning for a service marketed as "Unlimited."
My initial experience with customer support was frustrating, as they only provided rigid, template-based responses.

I eventually contacted the National Consumer Affairs Center (CCJ) and my bank for assistance.
Fortunately, the issue was resolved before they had to intervene formally.
After escalating the matter and providing a detailed explanation, the higher-level support team showed flexibility.
They reinstated my account and ultimately processed a full refund.

I appreciate the final resolution, but my experience suggests that committing to a long-term plan immediately is risky.
I highly recommend new users to test the service with a short-term plan first to see if their usage patterns trigger any automated bans.

Hello, thank you for sharing your experience. We offer unlimited device connections so users can protect all their household devices. Unfortunately, this feature is sometimes misused for prohibited activities, like unauthorized reselling or large-scale automated activities. It can put a heavy load on our network and impact performance for other users.

To address this, we use an automated system that detects technical red flags associated with service abuse (extremely high numbers of simultaneous connections or drastic traffic volume spikes) and blocks such accounts.

Because of our strict no-logs policy, we don't know what specific activity triggered the block. While the system only responds to significant anomalies and false positives are very rare, we do take reports of possible errors seriously. We’re sorry for the frustration caused by the automated block. We’re glad the issue was reviewed, your account reinstated, and your refund processed. If you’d like us to look further into the handling of your case, please email miles@surfshark.com.
