Badly damaged baggage

We travelled from Athens to Santorini in Oct 2025. Once I collected my checked luggage from the baggage claim I immediately noticed the shape of my bag was a very irregular shape. On further inspection I found the 2 aliminium tubes that house the handle extensions were completely snapped. This would have required a great deal of force to break these. I contacted Aegean once I returned home to make a claim including all photos and details. My claim was rejected by Aegean saying I should have attended their damaged baggage desk to obtain a claim number. I was on holidays with our transport waiting and wasn't aware this was the procedure. A very unreasonable process i feel. Therefore Aegean did not accept my claim. The flight itself wasn't anything special either. Very disappointed customer and will try and avoid this airline at all costs if given the choice in the future.

Bad checkin experience

Flight: A3 721
Airport: Lisbon (LIS)

This was my first time flying with Aegean Airlines, and unfortunately the check-in experience at Lisbon airport left a very poor impression. The signage at the check-in area was incorrect, and there was no clear queue for economy class passengers. Normally this would be a simple issue to sort out, but the young supervisor on duty made the situation unnecessarily stressful.

Instead of calmly clarifying the process, she was surprisingly aggressive and escalated the situation rather than de-escalating it. What made it even more frustrating was that the staff working under her seemed more mature and reasonable, yet she wouldn’t listen to them either.

Overall, the lack of clear instructions combined with the supervisor’s unprofessional behavior created a very negative start to my trip. Based on this experience, I would not be eager to fly with Aegean again

Aegean sold me an impossible connection and then blamed me

I had a short connection (1 hour, theoretically ) with Aegean in Athens and did everything humanly possible to make it: I ran through the airport, hardly breathing, straight from the plane, through passport control and security, without stopping for a second (yes, it makes no sense that they keep you luggage and send it to the connection flight without you having to take it and check in again, but you have to go out like as if Athens was your final destination and go through passport control and security checks again and then go to gates -maybe because my flight came from outside eu). I still reached the gate to find the flight closed. Instead of helping, Aegean staff were cold, rude and judgmental – I was told the time was “totally enough” and that it was my fault for being “too slow”, while I was literally shaking and sweating from running like a marathon.

This airline sells borderline impossible connections and then treats you like you’re the problem when you can’t teleport through queues and extra checks. My warning: do not trust Aegean with short connections. If something goes wrong, don’t expect empathy, support, or basic respect – expect to be blamed and be sent to buy new tickets wherever you want - they are not covering you anything.

Flight A3502 from SKG to MUC

Flight A3502 from SKG to MUC. I checked my luggage in the business class and I asked the lady if I can switch my automaticly given middle seat to another one because I don't like being between 2 people. She said that I can just sit in both seats because the one next to me to the window is open and she didn't changed me. After boarding a full plane with 0 seats left I had to sit between 2 people and exactly behind me a mother with a toddler kicking my seat and crying. This check-in agent woman in the business class is why I have trust issues.

On 8 November 2025

On 8 November 2025, my father was travelling from Amsterdam to Ioannina via Athens. He had purchased a Flex ticket, which allows one cabin bag and a small backpack. At Amsterdam airport, we wanted to print the boarding pass as a backup in case the phone battery ran out. A staff member asked us not to use the self-service machines and directed us to the check-in counter.
At the counter, the agent informed us that the cabin bag had to be checked in “because he is flying economy and the plane is full.” I explained that:

The Flex category includes cabin baggage allowance.
He had a connecting flight to Ioannina and needed essential items, especially considering his age (73).

The response was dismissive and rude, stating that “she doesn’t care,” that “these are Aegean’s instructions,” and that if we had an issue, we should “take it up with Aegean.” She refused to print the boarding pass and told us to go to the gate.
When my father reached the gate, a staff member approached him and, quite pointedly, asked him to hand over his bag. He was the only passenger singled out, and they admitted this was not due to weight or size but because “he caused an issue at check-in.” For context, the conversation at check-in was polite and handled by me, as my father does not speak English.
This behaviour felt discriminatory and humiliating towards an elderly passenger who does not speak the local language. It was not about customer service—it was about targeting someone unnecessarily. Such actions undermine basic courtesy and respect.
I hope the airline reviews this incident with its ground handling partner to ensure other passengers do not experience similar treatment.

Cancelled my flight with no notice and kept insisting I cancel the return ticket as well and buy it again at a higher price

What the title says. No explanation given as why when asked, they kept insisting I book another day, fly to a different airport halfway across the country or cancel my return ticket as well and buy it back at a higher price than I paid for both tickets. They also cancelled the flight themselves without warning and I had to call, insist I get my flight refuned, the add ons also refunded, because at the start they told me they can refund the ticket only and I have to wait 30 WORKING days for a refund. Which means I'll get my money back in DECEMBER.

Taking advantage of our national tragedy

I am Greek. They intentionally raised their prices for tickets from Santorini to Athens when there were massive earthquakes in Santorini at the beginning of 2025, and people tried to escape in case the volcano erupted. They also raised their ticket prices from Athens to Thessaloniki and Thessaloniki to Athens (our two largest cities), as the railway connecting them closed down for ~2 months following the national tragedy of the Tempi incident (February 2023), where two trains collided causing the death of 57, +1 left still in a coma, and hundreds injured. They have not been supportive of their customers and of the people of Greece in times of needs, especially by taking advantage of the national tragedy of Tempi and the fear of the Santorini locals and tourists trying to escape the island, as the earthquakes might have caused a volcano eruption. Also, my nephew’s imaginary friend can build an app that functions better than Aegean’s. The airline is very bad at transferring fragile objects. They ruined two of my paintings.

It portrays itself as a full service…

It portrays itself as a full service airline. I booked a flight on Aegean which turned out to be flown as a code share on another airline. They ripped the whole wheelhouse of my suitcase out leaving a gaping hole in the suitcae. There is no Aegean rep in Corfu airport but a desk in the arrivals hall with a phone number on a sign. I spoke to customer service who said it was not a problem - I should just fill in the online claim form and I would be reimbursed. Far from!
I spend 30 minutes filling in all sorts of information, received a mail back asking for a photo of the bag and damage beside the bagage belt IN the arrivals hall in as proof that they were responsible. I have never heard this before (I have been 25 years in the airline industry) and asked where I could find this rule in their passenger information or in conditions of purchase. The reply was then - we will not cover take contact to the other airline".
I have neven been so disrespectful treated - Greek at its very worse.
Never again.

Don't buy the flight pass

Don't buy the flight pass. This company has a good monopoly on the market so they get to walkover everyone and don't treat their clients good. flight pass was purchased, 7 flights left on it, the rep told us to book in the future and keep changing the date forward. Of course, when we decided to do that, it the system won't allow us. They claimed the policy changed "Last year" and there's nothing we can do. Shame aegean air. I'm sure The one star reviews here are not definitely a reflection of the bad customer services this company has.

Don't buy the Aegean flight pass

I've been a member of miles and bonus for a long time. The past year, Aegean's customer service has severely declined. They promise upgrades that they never deliver, the staff in the lounge's reception is rude and above all the flight pass is daylight robbery. Both my partner and I were told by Aegean that as long as we book our flights before the pass expiry date we can then re-schedule them for a later date. So my partner had 7 flights left on his 12 flight pass (which by the way you need to pay 86 euros in taxes each time additionally, plus luggage) and before it expired they told him he had to use all the flights before the expiration without the possibility to re-schedule. So he lost 7 flights and they did not care. The customer service agent was very unhelpful and offered no help whatsoever.

Terrible customer service.

Disappointed – No Consideration at all for Passengers with Special Needs

After our flight was cancelled twice, Aegean rebooked us on a very early morning flight, despite us clearly explaining that we are traveling with two disabled children and this schedule is not manageable for our family.

There were better, more humane alternatives available, but they chose not to offer them. We now face unnecessary stress and extra costs because of their decision.

Aegean prioritised cost over care, and showed very little understanding or flexibility. A truly disappointing experience.

Forced delay of baggage transportation…

Forced delay of baggage transportation Comment:
On September 30, 2025, I traveled for business reasons from Athens to Baden-Baden, Germany (final destination) via Frankfurt on flight number A3 830 at 8:10
At 8:10, I noticed from the window that my suitcase, along with other suitcases on the airport trolley, was being removed from the plane.
I complained to the flight attendant that my suitcase did not get on the plane. The flight attendant lied to me that luggage is ALWAYS transported on the same plane on the same flight. Then the plane was delayed. Upon arriving in Frankfurt, I waited for my suitcase for 1 hour. Later, an airport employee approached and informed me that the suitcases had not arrived and that we had to make a statement.
He said that the luggage would arrive on the next flight around 18.55. I have called Aegean airlines customer services. They lied to me that my suitcase would arrive at 18.55 and would be IMMEDIATELY transferred to Baden-Baden, my final destination.
I received my suitcase 2 days late on October 2, 2025. My trip was business and inside my suitcase were my work things and special clothes for work with a contract from September 30, 2025. The result of the delay was that I lost 2 days of work. I have missed the prepaid train from Frankfurt to Baden-Baden and had to buy a new ticket. (50 euros). To incur essential expenses (much more than the 40 euros proposed by Aegean Airlines). Moral damage has been caused.
I believe that the delay of luggage is equivalent to a flight delay. In Germany, as in all EU countries, the General Law of the European Union No. 261/2004 applies. Airline passengers whose flights are delayed by three hours or more are entitled to financial compensation (Flugverspätung Entschädigung). 400 euros at least, how much for a distance of more than 1500 kilometers.
I claim compensation!

Horrendous seat pitch in economy

Horrendous seat pitch in economy - flew Athens to LHR and was the most uncomfortable I’ve ever been on a flight. Smallest seat pitch I’ve seen. Avoid (unless you’re really short!)

It should be called disaster airline

It should be called disaster airline. …they flew (55 minutes late from Frankfurt , forced me to pay 50 euros to check in my carry on bc they say it was few cm wider than thier stupid dimensions (I always use the same bag as carry on with other airlines)…so I had to get my bag and ran. I was at the counter 4( minutes before the flight they said too late to check in.. so I missed my second flight to Jordan . It is a scam airline, no reimbursement nothing.
