To give 1 star is generous

To give 1 star is generous. I paid for the home through this bank held this account for years...
The level of respect i had was little to none.
I was victim to fraud and the fraud team more or less laughed at me.
Sneered and actually said how did you fall for that. The shock of lack of compassion was unreal i complained he tried his best was unable to resolve the fraud team refused to acknowledge it was a scam and i was a victim its like they wanted to avoid this they refused give any charge back said cus i authorised the transaction culdnt refund but each time i called i got a different story someone has to take an account for this
I will be closing my account having nothing to do with this greedy bank again they me me sick choose bank of Ireland my advice! Dont go near AIB very bad people they offerdd me no support no help no advice little to none i felt like a burden and they didnt hesitate when i told i was closing it they nearly told me how to instead of stopping me. There job is to keep customer happy but it proves who they really are if they didnt even bother to try help its very sad for them the amount of customers they will use lose...but their own fault i lost 6400 and i was further exploiated by AIB!

No doubt the worst bank

No doubt the worst bank I have ever dealt with, in any country. Constant app issues like "updates", login and verification, still require card readers for certain things, they charge a fee every quarter for account management, no method ever worked to top up my Revolut (bank or card), the list goes on... Will be very glad to finally have all my accounts closed soon.

The approve function is absolutely horrible

The approve function is absolutely ridiculous. I've missed so many time sensitive purchase agreements just because the alert just wouldn't come, the app was off line or any other "technical difficulties". Fix this please. Seriously considering closing my account.

Wired money to a credit Union account…

Wired money to a credit Union account but owing to who knows what the money never made it to my wife so I was told to issue a recall. The credit Union ignored it and AIB just told me there’s nothing they can do. Rubbish. I’m closing my accounts there. Find any other bank is my advice.

As a customer for over 35 years

As a customer for over e5 years, AIB are by far the worst bank to deal with, incompetent staff, on line when you phone even worse more under trained staff who don't have a clue and give incorrect information, and have the ordasidy to change every quater for account management, well get some proper staff who understand enquiries and don't read from a script.

Stay away!!!worst bank in Ireland

Simply the worst bank in Ireland to deal with. I have switched my mortgage 2 times since I bought my house in 2020. People advised me to not deal with them however I insisted because it was the best deal I thought I’d have. It turned out to be a nightmare. I applied online in the beginning of Feb/2025. I thought 2 months would be enough to deal with it. I am not even close to it. They are very disorganized! My application delayed 2 weeks because of their own internal mistakes. 1st I had to go to the branch with my wife, we went there during our lunchtime nobody told we had to print proof of address, since I have it online I could just email them. In this day and age they made me print it and return in the next day. Then the person who received it did not sent it to the mortgage area. More delays! The the person who was reviewing my application did not check properly our salaries and said we did not had enough to comply with our financial obligations. I had to explain all the paperwork, which by the way were straightforward, and the agent apologized by the mistake. Anytime they send you a message and you reply to it they will only revert to you after 48hs. This is ridiculous because even if it’s a simple mistake it will delay your application even more!
Now, a 3rd person is analyzing my case and it is asking tge exact same questions the other 2 agents asked me. It’s ridiculous! Our salary raised since 2020 and I also made pay downs along these time. Also I am currently mortgaged in a 20 years term (by our choice). How can it be so complicated!!! I just wanted to switch to them because of their current fixed rates! That’s it! But they clearly don’t care about customers. Stay away!

Absolutely useless mortgage provider

Absolutely useless mortgage provider. The best green mortgage rate on the market; but a retarded approach to assessing applications.
I've been paying minimum €617 per month for the past 7yrs 6mths without ever defaulting. Saving 7.5K per year. Paying €900 per month into a pension. Literally told me, we can't consider the €900 you're investing monthly towards your pension, €625 monthly savings capacity, plus ability to meet an existing €617 mortgage. against your ability to repay a €1100 monthly mortgage.
Told to stop paying into my pension for 6 months and reapply. What a load of numerical illiteracy.

OLD School services, payments blocked

It is an OLD SCHOOL Bank, totally unhelpful when you need it to transfer money outside Ireland, it blocks payments to an international institution and the card NEVER works when you try to pay public transports in Europe, totally frustrating.
Really considering to move to another bank as AIB services is never reliable.

AIB do not care at all

I was caught in what is known as an accommodation scam. I booked accommodation via a reputable site but later found out that it was a scam. Filed a reverse change procedure. AIB constantly asked me to forward on communication of the scam and I repeatedly asked them how can I send docs from scammers.. Credit cards were supposed to offer security. AIB are do not have a customer's interests in mind whatsoever. No better than the scammers themselves.

When is AIB going to join the 21st century?
You cannot do an international transfer on the bank’s app. Why not????
“Because it requires a card reader”!
Has the bank not heard of technology? My UK bank has been allowing this and much more for YEARS now.
AIB will you PLEASE get your act together!🙄🙄🙄😤😤

This is a message for Lisa who posted a…Message re A

This is a message for Lisa who posted a negative review re aib bank in January this year re 3 times having cancelled a Direct Debit yet the money was still paid to the payee.
You have rights Lisa!!
The bank has no choice but to rectify their error (assuming you can prove you did cancel the DD) under the DD guarantee (if you don’t know what this is (the bank ought to know but from my own experience I discovered that my bank Manager at the time, didn’t even know what it was; fortunately for me, I did), google it.
If the bank made a mistake the guarantee entitles you to a refund (there are time limits.)
Google first then go back to the bank, ask to see the Manager, ask him/her has he/she heard of the guarantee? If they haven’t then tell them how disgusted you are at their lack of knowledge (this guarantee has been around for donkeys years) and ask them to find out (why should you tell them how to do their job?). MAKE them rectify their error by immediately refunding your money (plus a goodwill gesture for lack of knowledge at that branch’s senior level) and make sure they know to ensure their staff are trained properly.
If the Manager knows about the guarantee, why haven’t they abided by it? Threaten to contact the CEO and the press.
Hope that helps.

RUDE

I filled out a mortgage request online and requested an evening call as I work during the day. An extremely rude man rang and I stated that I was not able to talk as I was working and had requested an evening call and just as I was trying to arrange another call back he said fine and hung up!! all calls are recorded so I hope quality control has checked this!

So much for backing small businesses

My recent experience with AIB and starting my own business has caused me untold headache. They advocate supporting small businesses but the experience I had was not reflective off that in any way. Rang customer service before arranging an appointment in branch to make sure I had everything I needed. Organised an appointment and came in with all my paperwork. Was told I would need a sole trader account and was asked to fill in the application details their. I questioned was this the correct account type as I had my own limited company as this seemed unusual to me. I was told this was correct so proceeded - at the end of the day this is their bread and butter so I'm going to take their word for it. I needed a card machine for customers so the first issue presented when applying for a card terminal. The person who set up my account was then uncontactable as they were on annual leave before Xmas break last year and were a temp cover. New year I am chasing the branch to get it sorted. Business advisor for that branch calls and assures me they are all over it (this was after putting a complaint in as I tried multiple times to contact the person who opened my account by phone and email with no response). Couple of weeks go by and I have other priorities so don't get a chance to chase up on it and AIB have done nothing since. In the end my accountant rings me to say I need to do something ASAP as I can't invoice for any more into that account until it's sorted. Ended up going with Revolute Business - 10 min application and approved next day. Even with 3 months of persistently chasing AIB for what should have been a routine ask and they couldn't sort it. By far the worst experience I've had and had high hopes given they push their commitment to small businesses. I am still having issues now trying to update details with my card terminal provider as unknown to myself these errors also carried over to them. I will be pulling my personal accounts and moving to Revolut also. The Irish government should have let them sink.

AIB get your act together!

All kinds of problems, phone nos on websites inaccurate, I contacted them 4 times re statements .... no response!
Pillar to post approach to customers.
Got one very helpful staff member in "bereavement section" who implied that my time and her's was being wasted .
Uninformed staff.
Regrettably the particular branch which I dealt with was excellent now seems to have gone downhill only recently.
There is supposed to be a "relationship" manager, but it now seems they are gone.
No list of staff available. Cant report to manager.
Sent letter to manager, no response in two weeks.

Tried to make a lodgement in Blackrock Branch in Co Dublin . Not able to, was sent to the nearest "An Post"
Whilst attempting to make a lodgement over xmas at a post office was told "we can only make cash lodgements to AIB accounts but not cheques."
What a service! Customers beware!
And to add insult to injury the top people want their "bonuses"
Come on AIB you used to be very good ; Get your act together!
