Horrible company!!

Horrible company!!! Avoid at all cost. I booked an around the world cruise and got insurance for it to the tune of $4300. The cruise company (HAL) changed the cruise itinerary after the 15 day back out and AIG would not give me a refund! It is a TOTALLY DIFFERENT TRIP, and HAL refunded our money, but AIG would not. Only vouchers that we have to use in 2 years. Total CRAP!

I have been a customer of AIG for…

I have been a customer of AIG for several years, but my recent experience has been beyond disappointing. I currently have claims dating back to August 2024 that have yet to be paid. Despite repeated follow-ups, I have received no updates, no explanations, and no resolution. However, this morning, as expected, AIG had no issue withdrawing my quarterly payment.

For months, I have been told that someone would contact me within 7 to 10 business days, yet no one has ever reached out. Each time I call, I am met with the same response—customer service can only view my claims but has no authority over processing payouts. If there is an issue or delay, AIG has not communicated it to me. I have provided all necessary documents, yet I remain unpaid with no indication of when, or if, my claim will be processed.

A company of this size should be transparent, efficient, and accountable, yet AIG fails in every one of these areas. Their business practices are unacceptable—taking payments on time while delaying or outright ignoring valid claims.

At this point, I simply want AIG to honor their obligations, process my claims, and pay what I am owed. However, based on my experience, I cannot in good faith recommend this company to anyone. If you are considering AIG, I strongly urge you to look elsewhere. Their lack of responsiveness, accountability, and basic customer service makes them one of the most frustrating companies I have ever dealt with.

Terrible company to deal with.

First time I have ever written a negative review but this company's claim process is so egregious I felt compelled to warn people not to purchase their travel insurance. My Wife and I submitted a claim due to having to cancel an airline trip for a family medical emergency. We submitted the necessary paperwork along with 2 medical doctor reports that indicated the medical emergency. Our claim was sent in late December. AIG played a stall process over a period of 10 weeks by consistanly claiming they needed more information that we had already sent them. We again sent them the information they requested and again the same 2 doctor reports. They continued this process and after numerous telephone conversations they kept making excuses why the claim was not completed. I believe as I read other complaint reviews that they attempt to frustrate the claimant to the point that they hope would just give up. It wasn't until we informed them that we were going to refer the problem to our state Insurance advocate that they finally informed us that we would receive our money, however they only gave us back 85% and they kept 15%? I would caution anyone to check this company before purchasing their travel insurance. Read all of the reviews and you'll see what I am talking about.

I strongly advise against purchasing…

I strongly advise against purchasing AIG trip insurance. This company is a complete rip-off. Despite meeting all the criteria outlined in their policy documents when I bought the coverage, my claim was still denied. After reviewing countless other complaints, it’s clear that 99% of claims are rejected, no matter how legitimate they are.

What's worse is that AIG reserves the right to change their policy at any time, and sure enough, once I submitted my claim, they “adjusted” their terms to avoid paying. So, even though I followed every step of the process, I ended up with a non-refundable trip and zero compensation.

Paying extra for this insurance is a total waste of money. Don’t fall for it like I did—save your money and skip the headache.

AIG Warranty Service

AIG Warranty Service

Subject: Urgent Action Needed – Washer & Dryer Issues, Warranty Failure

I am writing to express my deep frustration, concern, and disappointment regarding the unresolved issues with my Maytag washer and dryer purchased in 2021, along with the AIG extended warranty. Despite my numerous efforts, the situation has left my family in a state of complete helplessness.

As of October 23, 2024, my washer has been inoperable, and for over 60 days, I have been trying to resolve this issue. I have contacted AIG over 20 times, speaking with multiple representatives, managers, and even recording conversations, only to be met with false promises, misdirection, and no real action. It is incredibly disheartening that despite all these efforts, nothing has been done to resolve this matter.

I have also worked with the service provider, Paul Appliance Service in College Station, dispatched by AIG. Their so-called "Master Technician" has been to my home multiple times, either ordering the wrong parts, receiving broken ones, or simply throwing parts at the problem. Each time, I was told to wait weeks for new parts, only to find out they were once again incorrect or ineffective. The repeated cycle of incompetence from the technician and rude behavior from the appliance company's receptionist has only added to my distress. They are the only service provider available in my area, leaving me with no alternatives.

This situation has reached a critical point. My family has been battling severe flu and cold over the holidays, and the inability to wash clothing, sheets, and bedding has made it even more difficult. Laundromats were closed during the holiday season, and I was forced to wash laundry in our bathtub. When the laundromats did open, I was paying $90 each week to wash and dry clothes—almost half of my monthly electric bill. My illness, which requires breathing treatments, makes it physically impossible for me to continue hauling laundry bags. The emotional and physical toll of this situation is overwhelming.

I have asked AIG for a buyback or full refund for the washer and dryer that I paid for in full, but to no avail. Instead, on January 8, 2025, AIG forced us into a buyout offer of $669, a fraction of the original cost. Today, January 9, 2025, I was informed that the check for this amount has not even been issued. Throughout this entire ordeal, AIG has failed to take appropriate action, and I am being left to handle the situation alone.

My washer has had every part replaced except the computer board. After months of delays and repeated technician visits, I am confident the "Master Technician" was not qualified to diagnose the issue correctly. AIG was aware of the entire situation yet failed to act. Whirlpool and Maytag have also neglected to step in and take responsibility.

We were forced into accepting the buyout because there was no other solution offered, leaving us with an unresolved issue for the dryer, which will still require dealing with AIG—an experience that has destroyed any trust we once had. After spending $2,666 on the washer, dryer, and extended warranty, we have been left with a mere $669, no working washer, no compensation for the excessive laundry costs, and a complete lack of respect for our family’s hardship during this difficult time.

This experience has shown that AIG, Whirlpool, and Maytag have no regard for their customers. Your companies have disregarded our family's needs, our health, and our efforts to resolve this in good faith. You have shown no urgency, professionalism, or care throughout this entire ordeal. I am devastated by how we have been treated, especially during the holidays when our family was ill and without a basic necessity like a functioning washer.

We needed a full replacement or full refund for the washer and dryer, along with a new warranty. Instead, we were treated with blatant disregard, and the financial loss has only added insult to injury. I will never purchase a Maytag or Whirlpool product again, as this experience has shattered the relationship we once had with your brand.

I urge you to reflect on the values and morals your company represents because this situation demonstrates a severe lack of care for your customers.

I wish I would’ve read the reviews…

I wish I would’ve read the reviews first… Recently booked a hotel and purchased the protection policy in case of an emergency/cancellation… Of course they denied the claim and gave me about five different excuses. Why my situation didn’t fit their parameter… With that I would highly recommend anyone Considering to use AIG for any insurance/protection policy, especially in a hotel booking situation… To definitely read the fine print and not just check the box to let yourself forwarned by understanding all of the fine print/red tape and jargon they will use against you to deny any compensation.

NEVER EVER HIRE THEM FOR ANYTHING

NEVER EVER HIRE THEM FOR ANYTHING, YOU WILL BE ON YOUR OWN

The worst insurance company I've delt with.

It's absurd how they take every possible opportunity to delay the payment to the customer, in months

They send you incomplete forms so every interaction take at least 7 business days, and they ask you for more infos, and this way you never get paid back

I can't understand how they are not being investigated by federal institutions for being so dishonest

Do not purchase insurance from AIG travel insurance AIG this…

Do not purchase insurance from AIG this is scam
After waiting 15 days I received a call from the adjuster that I needed more documentation when I provided all it was required.
3 days later I received an email telling me that cannot provide any type of accomodations because I am receiving credit from the airline, when I called the airline they are telling me that the air fair was cancelled as requested because I had purchased insurance no credit has been issued. Called again AIG just to tell me that I had to right a letter stating that I not receiving credit. We are at day 20. At this point I asked to speak a manager name Jonathan who provided no help whatsoever and that my claim has been cancelled as a result of the airline statement which it was not true. He refused to contact the airline to confirm that I was not receiving a refund or credit. The reason for cancelling our family reunion was death in the family Jonathan had no empathy whatsoever infact he couldn't care less.
Now another family member that did not purchase insurance was able to get a refund from United Airlines and within two days the refund was approved another 5 days the money was in the account.
Worst company AIG shame on you, I played their game for over 20 days. Be prepared for all kind of excuses in trying for you the customer to be fed up so you can go away and ripped you off.

Insurance scam

I purchased the premium/upgraded cancellation insurance from expedia just in case I needed to cancel. It said I could cancel for any reason and get my money back for a flight.

When my work event got cancelled last min, I tried to cancel, and they said I had to file a claim and that it WASN'T guaranteed I would get my money back.

I tried to file a claim and the website glitched and told me I had to call in. When I called in, they were unhelpful and it was a nightmare.

Bad Experience

I purchased their insurance protection via Expedia. A scamming rental car called Zezgo accused me with existing dents on their rental car, and charged me $2,000. I contacted AIG, but they didn't help. Wasted money for nothing. I shouldn't have purchased insurance protection.

It must be a wind up

Never returned by call, until I complained
When they did phone, they left a message saying they would ring me back and months later they still haven't
I have moaned again , and again, and again, and they keep saying they will look into it. Statistically I could be dead in 10 years, any chance I can get a response before then. Would be nice

Extremely bad management

Extremely bad management. Very poor skilled administration employees. Very poorly behave receptionist and billing personnel. Pharmacy guys are also poor in handling patients. Their main focus is to joke with their colleagues during working hours. Make wrong bills and you have to wait hours to get the correct medicines and amend the bill mistakes

Purchased a Complete Care on my furnace…

Purchased a Complete Care on my furnace for 10 yrs and is good till 02/15/25.
Lennox dealer attempted to fix noise problem six times but was unable to repair.
Lennox approved a replacement as they felt the furnace was defective.
AIG would not approve as they used the excuse it does not cover this problem.
I just paid $699.labour to replace furnace which I think should be reimbursed as I have coverage until 02/15/25
Does AIG not honour their coverage.?
I thought I would contact you before contacting Consumers Affairs.
Thx for your attention.

If you are considering buying insurance…

If you are considering buying insurance for your trip DO NOT BUY IT FROM AIG. is a waste of money and when you call their agents they give you the run around.. I also blame EXPEDIA, because they offer their the insurance through AIG.. I will never buy a ticket again from Expedia, I had an emergency and I could not make my trip, but I thought that was the point of getting a travel insurance but I guess I was wrong.. I hope they go backrup before they continue to screw people over.

Don't sign for it. It's a SCAM

When I signed up almost 20 years ago for life insurance with AIG, they promised that if I never got ill with anything terminal I would get back all that I paid into it as one lump some. I've never got sick and they seemed to have disappeared.. SCAM!

I wish I could leave 0 stars if…

I wish I could leave 0 stars if possible

I got somehow dragged having to deal with AIG since AppleCare+ theft and loss uses AIG as their partner.

I was robbed in London on 3/14

As soon as this happened I was with the police and marked my phone lost in my iCloud within minutes .

After chasing to the address the find my showed, we were unable to retrieve the phone as it was an apartment building with over 50 units. The police doesn’t have the authority to go in and search.

I went to the Apple Store and filed a claim right away within 1 hour of my phone being robbed.

This has been nothing but HORRIBLE experience

I was on the phone with apple support, was told I should have a phone within 4 days from March 14th and I should be able get it while I am still in U.K. as they have this protocol to convenience customers who are on the road.

I gave them my UK address as I was there until 3/23.

On 3/15 I receive an email from AIG asking for Gov ID with pic and proof of purchase again, replied and provided within 20 mins from the email.

Been calling AIG almost everyday since then as all their correspondence says we will contact you within 2 business days but nothing ever happens.

3/15 talked to rep and was told all documents are in order we just need to wait, and the time frame is 2-5 business days. That I can refer to the terms and conditions, which no where to be found confirmed with apple that it takes 2-5 business days to resolve a claim.

Rep name was Janice and she was the rudest and unhelpful. Asked to talk to a supervisor and was told will receive a call back. Never did and today is 3/22 still never heard back.

Keep calling everyday until 3/19 was told it still within time frame and in no way phone will be in UK by 3/23 and I have to deal with how to retrieve phone.

Since by now I have learnt that every time you call, they give you different information.

I called back and was able to change the shipping address back to my US address.

Called again on 3/20 and being told they ask for another 5-7 business days as it is still being reviewed. Rep Angela couldn’t provide more than this.

How long am I supposed to wait.

The terms and conditions says they will contact with an outcome of the claim in 2 business days.

This has been nothing but awful

I understand this maybe out of apple scope but apple should definitely stop partnering with AIG if they cannot honor the claims that they promised

3/21 Rep Nora said she sees a note saying an outcome of this claim will be out in the morning on 3/22

3/22 noon comes still no email, no call. Portal still says phone claim is pending review. Called again and Rep Pau said he will escalate and wait til next week.

I finally lost it and said I don’t want any apologies or empathy. I want a solution. Connect me to someone who can make a decision or can do something than apologize.

Again was told a supervisor will be notified and will call back.

Never heard anything but 2 hours later the claim got approved and he deductible was charge to my credit card instantly

Called to see when will the phone will be shipped since it says as soon as approve they will ship out via fedex priority overnight.

Was told by rep Joshua takes 2-5 business days from approve to ship the replacement phone and another 1-2 business days for delivery, even tho in apple website says up to 4 business days to have the device delivered once claim is approved.

This has been the most awful 10 days of my life and I hope I never have to deal with AIG again as I for sure won’t ever purchase any insurance or anything I have to deal with them

I do feel sorry for the reps working for them that are thrown out there with no information for customers.

I am sure I am not the only one who have called and lost it with how many bad and awful experiences you can find online.

If AIG can’t honor the time frame then don’t partner with apple offering phone insurances.
