It's a s-h-i-t company

It's a s-h-i-t company - simple & plain...they take much in insurance policy, but refuse to pay anything if you should need it!!!

"The insurance only covers tooth injury due to accident or food intake" ...

My dentist at the destination said "your problem with cracked tooth is caused by eating a nut or other hard food"...

Then they come to the the conclusion that we DON'T PAY ANYTHING and hope customer don't use government complaint agency - because then we will loose so hard...

That tooth treatment cost $ 200, you said $ 100 was your maximum refund on tooth treatment, then deduct it with with $ 50 in self-risk... Is it worth getting irritated customers and bad reviews for $ 50????!!! Obviously for AIG....

What is the point of Travel Insurance?!

I recently had a very bad flight back from Dubai to UK on the date below. The EK031 flight was 2 hours 37 minutes delayed - strangely just below the threshold for compensation. We were over 2 hours on the plane delayed by rain. Yes the Emirates cannot deal with rain, even international award winning airlines.

I had taken out additional £48 insurance with AIG for any interruption to my travel, as I was flying close to conflict areas in Gaza, Yemen and Ukraine. I have lived in the region for over 20 years so was cautious.

The flight delay caused an issue with my onward travel with National Express, and was bumped off the next coach which was full, and further delayed 4 hours. I then had to pay £36.75 for a new single ticket.

I contacted AIG and received two conflicting replies, one from a loss adjuster saying that I probably was not covered, but could neither confirm or deny and I was welcome to waste my time further. No thanks.

Another mail included an un-editable partially completed PDF claim form, that I now have to try to work out how to complete, if I can be bothered.

Most of the contents of the claim form does not seem relevant to my simple claim for additional costs incurred.

Next time I will not waste £48 that would more than have covered the extra ticket required and coffee whilst waiting. Total waste of time and money. I will not insure with AIG again.

I am not surprised at their rating by others, but they are the only linked insurer for Emirates Airline it appears.

I planned a trip to Italy

I planned a trip to Italy, with three other girlfriends. We all purchased insurance through AIG. Our trip for for 18 day, flying first class. The departue date was May 18, 2020. Obviously, Covid hit the entire world. Although we all wanted to complete our vacation, we were not allowed. Knowing we were not allowed and could not complete the trip, we filed on AIG. They did not honor our insurance. They stated a pandemic was not covered. I have since traveled 8 to 10 more times (w/o insurance) and I am curentlly booking another trip. I will never use AIG again. That was my first and last time using them. Had they honored our paid for insurance policy, they would have made over $4000 more (just from me alone) in travel insurance purchaes over the last few years. Every time I book a trip, I refuse the insurance due to their lack of payment. Shame on them. They'd be making bank if honorable, however, they'd rather cheat clients than pay. That always costs in the long run. I'm PROUD to say I will never use them again...money SAVED!!!!!

Do not purchase it is a waste of money and time

I purchased this policy and ended up having an extensive surgery which stopped me from traveling. This was not an expensive trip just two budget tickets to Germany and the company was unexceptable. I had to file the same paperwork over and over again, my emails were not answered and my claim was finally denied after 2 month due to the Flight company giving me a partial credit. Even if I followed their policy and signed a waiver that I would not use the Flight voucher. This company is more of a headache than a benefit and is not willing to pay what they promise. Stay away!

Travelers beware

Travelers beware. AIG has the ability to alter or determine what category of coverage they place you into. My wife and I had a three leg trip. When we were at our first destination, my 85 year old Mother became hospitalized. She was part of our 2nd part of the trip. It was determined to keep our departure date which was 2.5 days away. Upon our arrival in FL. my Mother's condition became grave and unsure. We quite naturally canceled our departure, which after two weeks my Mother was released from the hospital and moved to a rehab center where she stayed another 3 weeks. After over a month and $10K later, we returned home. My Mother was sent home with further inhouse cares. AIG asked for a ton of proof and was given everything even DR. signature validating her care. Well, here is where this insurance company is able to get away with fraud and non payment. Within their policies, they incorporate language which can go multiple ways. In our case, they placed us into s "trip DELAY" VS "TRIP interruption". They claim we were merely 'delayed" and not interrupted. I do not know about anyway else, delay means you will catch another flight in a couple of hours or at the worse, the very next day. We were over 30 days staying in hotels, rental cars, fuel, meals etc.. By placing us into a "delay" category, this took away all except the flight costs which was only $803.00 out of $10,244.00. Insurance is a risk and out of the millions who do not make a claim, this is how these dirty dogs rake in their loot. I have asked our State insurance department to look into this They sent my appeal and complaint back to AIG, guess what AIG sent back. They quoted each and every step (I) presented and timelines. Not once did they address their ability to "self-police" and alter or use the verbiage in whatever way they need to in order to deny a claim. So, TRAVELERS BEWARE! You think you have coverage, well you do as long as you do not need to make a claim. Hmmm

I sent in claim for a medical service…

I sent in claim for a medical service in September 2023. At the end of October I called and was told they had moved to a new address which they never notify us clients of. I resent it October 23 and they received it November 1, it is now February 7 of 2024 and all they can tell me is that they’re backlogged. it is now February 7 of 2024 and all they can tell me every time I call each month is that they’re backlogged. So did this company have a major layoff because it never took this long before . Very disappointed and poor Service.

An absolute scam

An absolute scam, run by untrustworthy immoral swindlers

They will either make up clauses or hide things in very fine print that are inaccessible at first, later when you try to claim they will list those hidden clauses.

Liers

I bought both Home insurance and Travel Insurance. When I asked them how to claim my broken screen from Home Insurance, here what happened:
My message:

Hi,
I am a customer of Fortum Insurance Koti M contract type
I've just had an accident which I dropped my computer screen on the floor and it is not broken and can not be used anymore.
How can I claim this accident to my insurance?
Do I need to send you a photo of the broken screen?
Please see below the invoice of the screen I bought from Gigantti.

Their answered was to make a claim in travel insurance, as mentioned that I should fill in document about the trip and luggage:
Hi,

You can fill the claim form online: claim-notification-online

Include a documentary about the trip and when you received your luggage, as well as receipts for purchased necessities.

The decision of compensation will be made in our Claims department after your application is received.

and finally they refused that there was no instructions made to make the claim with Travel Insurance:

Our customer service has merely advised you to attach all necessary documentation to your claim, they did not tell you what kind of a story to apply the indemnity with.

My Amtrak train from Detroit to Chicago…

My Amtrak train from Detroit to Chicago got cancelled. My husband drove me to Chicago. AIG was contacted to ask for reimbursement for mileage at US Govt rate and tolls. After continuous request from AIG for more information, the company finally concluded that mileage is not covered. If I had rented a car, it would be covered. WHAT ??? It was never spelled out in the contract. When I asked for specifics they sent information about a Bundle coverage. Don't Trust them.

Apple Care refers you to AIG company to…

Apple Care refers you to AIG company to claim the insurance. It is so difficult to communicate with them. Hefty online/over the phone form procedure. They charge a shocking high excess fee of 109 pounds. On top of the big Apple+Care monthly payment, it is higher than any other company. I chose Apple+Care because I admire the company and thought I was paying for quality. But I am highly disappointed with Apple. I advise all my friends and family to cancel Apple+care and will not ever use their products. Forgot to say that the whole process of phone replacement took a month—a Month to replace a Phone. In comparison, all other companies do this in a matter of days.

Insurance is Scam

Back in April 2023 my family and I plan a trip to Dominican Republic. From sep28-Oct 9 . My son was currently in the military and took time off for this trip. we booked round-trip airline tickets through frontier and bought insurance. I was told by the representative it covered trip, delays, cancellations, food, new tickets, hotel,
Two months later frontier canceled the flight, and there were only flights on different days before and two days after.
I reached out to the insurance company and they told me to wait two days before the flight was leaving to make sure another flight wasn’t available. Then the representative from AIG could help me find other travel arrangements..
I did not want to wait 2days before initial travel, that’s insane , my son was able to rearrange his schedule, and we were able to rebook the flight.
Therefore, I transferred that insurance that I did not file a claim on to the new tickets .
While at the airport, we got a notification from frontier that we were going to miss our connecting flight, and there were no other flights available until two days from where our connection was
Therefore, I called the insurance and a representative helped me book New tickets out that same night with Spirit airlines! Not One time did this representative say it was not covered, if it was not covered, why did he book the tickets for me? Why did the first representative tell me to wait two days before to rebooking another flight. We would have gone somewhere else like Mexico. The trip we were going on was through our timeshare so we could have changed it at the last minute. I even received a call from
AIG wanting to know if we made it.
On that trip, one of our bags was lost, we had to buy new clothing, and when the bag finally arrive four days later, it was damaged mildew and wet.
When I got back home, I filed the claim submitted the new ticket prices ,all the new clothes we purchased, the cost of old clothes damaged, food and drinks for us at the airport for during the delay.
Then, all of a sudden I get a email saying I’m sorry, but nothing is covered,
I asked for a supervisor to call me back and nothing happened, I got an additional email saying that a check was cut .
I submitted a claim for almost $1600 , I’ve been waiting for this check and finally I get through to a representative who tells me the check that’s coming is $268, and that I needed someone to call me It’s wrong That didn’t even cover the cost of the flights.
I’m told by the insurance company that they don’t cover delays from the airline that makes no sense if my trip was protected quote for trip delays , also if it wasn’t covered, why didn’t the representative tell me before allowing me to book
I sent them receipts of purchases , I sent them the airline tickets, original and new, I explained the situation and occurances.
This company is a scam and they have people that don’t know what they’re talking about and giving false information to clients
Tell me what’s the point of this insurance if what I just named is not covered ! And if this stuff is not covered, and they know that , then the representatives needs to say that it’s not covered, they knew the reason I called of what was going on! That is deceptive and unethical!

I purchased car rental insurance via Expedia...total scam

I purchased car rental insurance via expedia for the summer holidays. when returned the vehicle it had small scratch. So Avis Spain charged my credit card USD600+ and i filled the clam form in details and as per the book.
Tricia was my claim adjustor, she asks me for the same document over and over again...

I wrote to the adjustor
Dear Tricia,

I am writing you this letter to advise you of my dissatisfaction of the process and handling of my claim of almost US$700.

You keep asking for the same document again and again and despite being submitted several times and sometimes for four consecutive times.
As I have written to you before regarding this issue, I will not tolerate any further unnecessary delay. If this is an intentional tactic for me to give up, please note this will not happen. In fact, any further delays will cause unfavorable claims from me as per local insurance consumer laws.
I attach as requested for the fourth time the damage estimate and I really do hope you process the refund within the next 14 days as you had more than enough time to review.

So two months post my claim i recieved an email on 21 september 2023 that my check was getting printed and being sent.

NOTHING RECIVEIVED BY NOW....i will take them to court.

AIG must be the worst travel insurance…

AIG must be the worst travel insurance providers I have ever encountered. Despite the language barrier, their customer service, or lack of, is beyond abhorrent. After my recent experience whilst on holiday, I was left completely abandoned after waiting for over 7hrs for them to approve a procedure which was deemed necessary by the attending physician. Neither the call, nor the approval arrived. On my return to UK, I have been corresponding with them on a daily basis, only to be advised, after a full investigation, that my treatment from them was totally unacceptable and thereafter offered compensation. This did not compensate for the distress caused by their severe lack of communication and more over, their distinct lack understanding and empathy. Today I have been contacted by the treating physician to advise that AIG are refusing to pay for the initial consultation which was previously agreed and approved. I would therefore advise anybody considering using this company for travel insurance to seriously reconsider their options.
