Even after I got recommendation from AlienAdv, I surfed internet for more options and facilities and finally ended up with AlienAdv as it had all what I wanted with in my budget, the staffs respond to my emails within minutes, I asked millions of questions and got immediate clear explanations, usually it's not easier to customise your trip to countries like Tanzania, but with this company I could, you can customise your tour with multiple options and get immediate response from the staffs. Thanks to Pallav, the person who handled my requirements.

My wife and I booked two tours (Kilimanjaro day trek and Ngorongoro crater day trip) in Tanzania via their local partner 'Homeland adventures'. The man in-charge, Muksin, was extremely cordial - answered my innumerous queries and made me feel comfortable about the whole trip. He also came a day before the Kili trek and briefed me about both trips.
However, our actual experience during the tours was far from this experience.

1. Kili trek - The guide, Nikolas (I think that's what his name was), was completely detached - seemed more like a person who's carrying our lunch packets. Moreover, he did smell strongly of alcohol - not sure whether he had it that morning or the previous night. He provided no real 'guidance' or information about the park or the flora/fauna. The lunch packet had stale chicken and funny-tasting yoghurt in it.

2. Ngorongoro crater - This experience was much worse that the previous one. I specifically asked whether there were group tours available with them and they said yes. However, it seemed more like they were partnering with some other local tour guys who had their separate bookings and pooling us together into the same vehicle. At the outset itself, the information provided was wrong. We were told that we will be 4 people for the safari. It turned out that there were 6. The vehicles provided were rickety and the guides/drivers seemed to care least about it. At one point there were 7 people (a cook sitting on an ice box) in the vehicle and the whole vehicle was completely cramped.

I have rated 3 stars just for the initial communication part and because I would like to believe that the Ngorongoro trip was handled by other tour guys. Else I would've rated you even lower.

One piece of advise - If you do not have a group tour available, please be honest about it. Else, if you depend on other local operators to organise/manage your customers' trips and they end up like ours, it would only tarnish your reputation.

Pallav has done a great job getting us set up for this adventure to Kiliminjaro. I look forward to this with great anticipation.

I had a really well organised trip to trek Kilimanjaro. All my questions were answered promptly which was important for me as I was travelling alone and trying to coordinate my trip with a trip my daughter was on. The whole process was made easy and was excellent value for money.

I made a reservation through this company for a climbing tour in Tanzania and paid a deposit. Things did not work out and I had to cancel. They refunded my deposit.

I booked through Alien Adventures for a solo charity climb of Mount Kilimanjaro. Pallav was very attentive from the very beginning and even made a donation to my cause. However I booked and paid for a luxury climb which was advertised and explained to me from Pallav to include extra luxuries such as extra thick mattresses, bottled water etc. However there was nothing different in my trip than if I had booked a budget trip. There was only one type of mattress despite the level of package booked and all climbers had bottled water provided to them. There were many other discrepancies in the package, the whole luxury package in fact did not exist and the tour company I climbed with were unaware of it. Long story short I paid hundreds more than I should have. The budget climb would have been the exact same. However Pallav was there to answer all of my questions when the local company I was booked with were not responding. This really helped me feel comfortable with everything especially being a single female traveler, this provided me with a lot of reassurance.

Pallav has arranged climbs of Mt Kenya and Kilimanjaro and a short safari for me through Chief's Tours. He and Adidas from Chiefs have been very professional and have answered queries promptly and fully. Of course the real test is yet to come. The review after the trip will be the one that really counts, but I feel confident of a desirable outcome.
