Cable Confusion.
Bought my wife an Apple Watch for her birthday. Why have they changed the charging to USB C as none of our other Apple devices use USB-C? So she has Lightning for her phone, USB for her iPad and now USB-C for her watch. Not very environmentally responsible Apple.
NEVER BUY THE APPLE WATCH AGAIN!!!
NEVER BUY THE APPLE WATCH AGAIN!!!
I bought an apple watch series 3 from the apple store last year. I just used it for about 16 months from new. One day the watch suddenly stuck on the apple logo and got no respond any more. I tried to reset the watch and also fully charged the watch, but it is still stuck on the logo and everything is dead. Finally I took the watch to Stratford City Apple store and asked them to check the watch. They said the warranty was expired and asked me to sign to a contract to agree that if they cannot repair the watch, I need to pay the full price to buy the series 3 apple watch for replacement. The staffs said if I did not sign the contract, they will not take my watch to check or repair. They also convinced me that if it is the software problem, they will not charge me any money. I think the watch should not need replacemnt as any watch can be used for many years. No reason the apple watch is with a such short life cycle of 16 months. I was very reluctantly to sign the contract and let them repair the watch.
One week later, the Stratford City apple store sent me an email and asked to collect the watch but did not state how much is the repair fee. When I went to the Store to collect my watch, the staff told me the watch cannot repair and asked me to pay a full price of the series 3 watch for £163.00 for replacement. I disagreed to pay the full price again to buy the outdated model of series 3 Apple watch. I complained to the Store Manager that the watch was just used for 16 months and it is unbelievable the watch cannot be repaired. Even any classic cheap watches can used for over serveral years but why does apple watch just used for a short period. I have do nothing to the watch, so it is absolutely that the problem comes from their manufacting process. I said if you charged me a reasonable repair fee, I am happy to pay. Now it is series 8 in 2022, I think nobody will pay the orginal full price £163 to buy the old model series 3 watch agian. I refused to pay the replacement fee and asked them to return my old watch to me but the staff refuse to return my old watch.
I complained the case to the senior Apple support department but nobodies seemed to be helpful. They insisted me to pay the replacement fee to get the new series 3 watch because they said I had signed the contract. Oh what is the Apple company policy, their apple watches are not durable and with a so short life period but force customers to buy their old product again. Otherwise you will get nothing even though you had pay the money to your previous old watch.
Now the case is not yet solved. They keep my old watch and refused to return it to me. Of course I will not pay £163 to Apple to buy the series 3 watch.
I hope the senior Apple management staffs can look through the case and why their watch sometimes can use for 16 months, worse than any classic watches in the high street market. If customers are so unluckily to purchase this defective products, any help or compensation are given to customers.
I absolutely love my Apple Watch
I absolutely love my Apple Watch, ever since I bought it it’s been a staple in my health arsenal, I can never go without it anymore, I think it’s a fantastic device and I will continue to use it moving forward.
Buyer beware
Just received my Apple Watch series 7 which I ordered on the release date and was disappointed that on opening the box the USB lead was a USB-c and all our other Apple chargers were USB so I was unable to set up the watch. I called Apple Help and was told that this was the new standard and there was nothing they could do as this change had been happening to all Apple products over a period of more than a year. This was not the case when only 8 weeks ago I bought my wife an Apple Series 6 for her birthday which had the standard USB and that was what I had expected to be in the box when my watch arrived. In the end I was told that I needed to buy a USB-c charger from Apple or a third party vendor. After the call I went to the Apple Store and spoke with the manager and common sense prevailed and after explaining the situation a solution was found that resolved my problem. I think Apple marketing need to understand that they have a loyal customer base who have legacy products which don't have the new USB-c charger and after spending £399 on a watch and waiting several weeks for it to arrive there is a feeling of total disappointment when the product cant be used. Fast charging was major selling point with this product and it should have been made clear that a different charger would be needed, I watched the slick pre launch video several times and there was no mention of this. Great watch and love it but the shine was taken off the purchase because of this problem...!
Do NOT get caught by Apple because they will screw you big time!!!
Apple Series 4 Stainless Steel watch purchased Oct 2018 for $1200, now microphone defunct therefore no Phone function, No Siri, unable to dictate messages. So I now have a useless piece of metal junk on my wrist! Apple's response... Pay $618 + for repair or buy a new Series 6 for $599!! In other words.... ToughLuck!! Go figure!!!!

The Apple Watch Series 5 is gathering dust in the drawer. 18 hour battery life is almost useless. This needs to be fixed on Series 6. What good are all the functions, when the battery is dead.
