Computational incompetence

I used Aternos for a while, but I got tired of the constant lag spikes (and I'm not one of those kids who use Bukkit or Vanilla and call it slow, I use Paperspigot). While it is far more user-friendly than most hosting services, the trash processors and RAM allocation to each server is what makes the servers entirely unplayable. Corruption and other errors are uncommon, but it is nigh impossible to interact with anything in-game since ping is usually above 500ms (somehow Aternos thinks a reasonable ping is 350).
Queues never posed issues for me, but I know some people struggled with them. The limit of renderdist 10 is irritating, but it's not like chunks render anyway cause of the garbage tech chugging away a pixel at a time.
Aternos is by no means technologically up to scale for any free hosting. Use it if you will, but you will wind up frustrated and vastly irritated at the computing incompetence posed by all server-side problems.

Almost good until...

Good until you get "suspended" (banned forever) because they dont want you to use discord bots to start and stop the server remotely. Also your server and your backups are deleted so no comming back on another service
+ Many crashes during gameplay that lead to data loss.
+ can't import own datapacks and mods
+Lag, when you mine a block it disapears 2 minutes later (not joking this actually happened with no mods just vanilla)

Never using again

I’m so annoyed. I loved this service at first and thought it was awesome that it was free and easy. I had a server that was active for months and had all of my friends and my gameplay for that whole time. They claim that inactive servers will be deleted but that they will email you to log in if you don’t want it to be deleted. They deleted my server and when I contacted their help center they said “The server has been deleted without any notification since it didn’t had any data on it.” A- learn how to spell. B- explain to me how my server that had a massive amount of work and tons of projects had no data on it. Never using them again. Don’t recommend at all.

Its free. Works well

Been a user for 1+ years. Here's a short list of pros and cons:

Pros:
- Free
- Mods
- Plugins
- Easy to learn
- Customizable servers

Cons:
- Not up 24/7 (fair enough though)
- Takes a little bit of time to launch the server
- Laggy (at least in NA east)
- Starts being super laggy with 4+ players (again, might just be NA east)

Overall, its great if you just want to test things in multiplayer, play with siblings, or friends. But it's not better than other paid services.

Arternos is free that's all I care about because if I spend money on a game I'm dead my mom will kill me soo yea

Bad sides-
.Not 24/7
.you can't add mods/plugins freely unless you use bedrock
.it take a long time to start a java server
Good sides-
.EVERYTHING ELS

Personally I play bedrock course I can't download java rn but when I make java server I always use geyser plugging also to me patterns is good I say 9/10

Best Free Host out there

Good, all the other reviews here are just kids that had an issue (often of their own fault) that understand nothing about the service. A truly free service offering a lot of options, just give it a try

Very nice FREE Minecraft Servers provider

Positives:
- Automatic backups
- Share your server management with somebody and select their permissions
- THERE'S NO ANYMORE QUEUE.
The queue is now history. It is already a while since the last time I saw the queue. Big thumb up for removing the queue.
- You can upload your world
- You can change the online mode
- A LOT of languages to choose from
- Everything else
NEGATIVES:
- You can't upload your files (except worlds)
- Can't upload paid plugins/mods
- Sometimes laggy (especially when you have elytra and trying to fly through new chunks)

This host deletes unused servers after…

This host deletes unused servers after 3 months and is so laggy even says "Its free forever" and ftp doesnt exist because "Plugins or mods uploaded to your server run on our hardware. They might contain suspicious software code which is then executed in our environment." that means that we would install malware on our device too. 1 out of 5. Falixnodes is better
