Element14 was good once, now the very worst.

Element14 once upon a time was great. Unfortunately those days seem to be well and truly gone.

I have bought from them for over 10 years including back when they were farnell. Their service took a turn towards poor roughly 3 years ago and has gotten increasingly worse since then to a point now that I will do everything in my power to avoid purchasing from them. They take the longest out of any supplier I know to ship what you have ordered, do not respond to questions trying to find out why things haven't turned up for days, promise delivery dates and miss them by sometimes months without telling you anything is wrong unless you get very angry in emails to their support, they provide a tracking service for your order that simply does not work and says everything is on back order and hasn't shipped yet no matter what the status of it and if you ask them to provide the shipping details/con note or package number or even just who the shipping company was they cant tell you because apparently they don't know. Believe it or not they even screwed up a "digital delivery" which is literally just emailing a software key, which I paid thousands for up front and then waited two months to receive which is not even the end of it, they also registered it to the wrong business and took a further two weeks to fix so I could actually use it.

They do not seem genuinely interested in improving as I have made it very clear to them what my experiences are and that it needs some serious improvement and nothing has ever changed. It is the same stuff ups over and over every time without fail.

They should absolutely be your very last resort, you would have a better experience and better luck buying off a stranger who wants to meet you at the park in the middle of the night for the deal.

I suggest digikey who seem to be the best and failing that mouser is not too bad either.

Horrible experience

Horrible experience. Placed an order of simple components for personal use (Soldering station, flux, Dremel tools) at their Hong Kong website for a local delivery at noon on 12/30. All items on website clearly showing 1 to 2 delivery ETA. On 01/02 they tell me the don't have one component in stock so order could not processed (i)unless shipment delayed to mid-Jan or (ii)item cancelled. After chasing today (01/04) I find out order should be arriving "within a week". This is total BS as at very worst it takes three businesses days to have anything delivered in Hong Kong by regular post. Furthermore, everything felt very sketchy and with little transparency. Of course I have cancelled order right away as this company clearly LACKS the stock and I am not willing to wait for weeks on end ... or simply not get anything at all. If this is the service that you get for their main hub, cannot imagine service and speed for Oz ... Perhaps may be better if you order zillions of dollars but for certainly NOT worth for the small business or hobbyist.

Items never delivered !
Ordered in Sydney, Australia

I had a miss call from their delivery representative @2:08PM, and called him back @2:16PM.

He was rude and disrespectful, he informed me that since he has other parcels do deliver, he will not be delivering this parcel since I did not pick up his call 8 mins earlier.

This is despite me indicating in my special order delivery instructions that the delivery representative is to "Ring Unit XXX please"

He aggressively told me its not his problem and hung up.

Element14 are yet to issue a refund.

after the order was placed they doubled the prices

Placed an order today for $72.6. I paid by credit card.
1.5 hours later I got the confirmation email that's total $145.86.
WHAT ????
I checked my credit card history and they have taken $146.86. Now if I open the their web shop when logged in the price has changed to double however If I open it without logged in it still gives the lower prices.
They practically stole my money.
I called them and I was told the price changed.....I cancelled the order immediately. I am still waiting for the confirmation of the cancellation.
I have been buying parts from the internet regularly for years but I have never had this bad experience!!!

Really don’t understand why anyone is giving these guys negative feedback - I have never had any problems with element14 in Australia anyway even if the part isn’t stocked locally it’s always here within 1-2 weeks. I give them 5 stars

Zero trust deserved.

I placed an order for an item on 6/24.

It was then delayed 4 times before I called to ask on 7/17 about where my stuff is.

I was then lied to and told it would ship on 7/22.

It is now 7/24. It still has not shipped, and I have no way of trusting in their next guess as to when I will get my stuff. My order summary page still lists the shipping estimate as 7/16 and now the order total has an additional $50 mystery charge that the car rep cannot explain.

On top of that, they curate the reviews on their site, so you'll never see any critical review that will dissuade you from buying something based on their handling of their products.

Element14 will never give you the ability to make an informed purchase.

Worse electronics supplier around

The couriers they use can't even deliver 20km away overnight.
My experience with Element14 has been terrible and I'd purchase from Arrow, Mouser or Digikey over these clowns any day.

DO NOT ORDER AT element14 singapore in case you still want on-time delivery of components

element14 singapore still does not deliver my order at all, since more than 4 weeks, although the components were all confirmed for maximum 5 working days since July 25, 2018. Those components were and are urgently needed for my project.

Since August 9, 2018, there are in total 9 e-mails from me questioning the status of the order and when will the components be shipped. Since August 23, only 2 e-mails from the manager which just promised that the involved staff will contact me. No contact at all from the promised staff. And the manager also gave no information what has been happening.

Update: still nothing happens until now :((

The worst experience ever.

The worst database management ever came across. Extremely inefficient management, be it, shipment, payment, customer service and what not!
I have had several incidents with their team while I was doing my P.G. One such goes like this: I had placed order on a set of components which I never received. I had already made payment before shipment. When enquired the team said they had delivered it to the address as per my account. Seemed their database was not managed well. They were quite non-cooperative when I called them up on the customer care number. It took me many calls to get them to share the delivery and tracking details. I spent a lot of time enquiring about the shipment and got to know that the address to which they sent was that of a person in a different hostel in the campus. They promised re-imbursement after a lot of calls and complaints and the promise IS NOT KEPT TO THIS DATE.
The second incident is even more annoying for which I still get irritating calls from their team. The claim is that some purchase has been made from my Element14 account and the payment is overdue. Interestingly, the so-said order was placed after I had even left the campus after the course. Many people took turns to e-mail and phone-call me asking for the payment. They relentlessly disturb me even after telling them countless times that I had not made any purchase and it could be some similar fault in their system. Even the person who had agreed for the re-imbursement called me for the same. When I reminded him about the re-imbursement, he became silent and tactfully ended the call. I can even give you the names of people..

To element 14- Please dont quote 12 year warranty if you cant provide the best support and abuse customers. Your customer care is inefficient, you dont have a technical or customer grievance team in India and the customer care representative does not have the courtesy to reply even after sending 3-4 reminder mails and in-numerous calls .
