The rented car was not given!!! due to the wrong Pin Number, as in Catania Surprice said!!!! I lost my money. I asked kindly through many Emails and phone calls to AutoEurope to reimburse my Initial Payment, You made it difficult and impossible. permit me to say "Shame on you". I went next door, in Catania, next to your office or your Partner car reantal "Surprice" and rented a car from Autovia- Thank you Autovia, you discovered a big scam with Surprice. Well, I should say " No Surpise with Surprice"I used the same Mastercard, The same pin code and it was working there!! I have the proof of that. meaning, I can prove it to authourties and to you.you like to make money without giving the rented car, easy Money. Really, Its a shame or a leagal Scam. I am the same person and I used the same Mastercard and I have a very sufficient credit( the same Master Card ) that cover up to or more than 3000 Euro. You took my money on line and refused the same card at your office, while Autovia simply did an Honest work. I have all the evidences, but no one up to now take my complain seriously from your company after all the detailed explanations. Through my phone calls, you were ( AutoEurope Car Service ) slightly communicative and never cooperative. Really, Its A shame. I will tell everyone about you and how you treat your Customers and tell how a company in Germany does that, If my Money doen not comeback . I will be obilged to file a complain at the Police and may be further more , please take things seriously and react . these acctivities are not acceptable in Germany. All my Initiatives ( Email and Phone Contacts ) with AutoEurope are up to now in vain. instaed of sending me fake autoeurope.co.uk customerservice or none answered phone Numbers. Please react and save your company. I have all the proves to let you loose at the court. Thanks

Catastrophical service-900 Euro charged unrightfully
I rented a car with Auto Europe Germany and had to pick it up in Sweden at company BUDGET. I paid the full amount in advance to Auto Europe.
Upon return without any damages I got AFTER I left the office and was in the plane back an invoice by Email with 900 Euro charge.
I made a complaint directly on 20/8 with full documentation at kundendienst auto europe. On 17 Oct I got the reply that the Swedish Budget station has refused to pay back. I received no reason. Auto Europe mailt me that will check and get back soon. Now we are 1 month later and I have not heard anything from Auto Europe.
This is a violation of the service time that car rental companies have to respect.
I am considering legal steps.

I booked a car via this website and I…
I booked a car via this website and I had a fabulous afternoon and evening today. I rented a car from centauro. At pickup, the lady at the rental tells me that she would recommend taking out additional insurance, because in an emergency help would then come directly from centauro and not from the online booking portal or my credit card company.
Therefore, I hat to pay an additional 180 euros.
Today now I could not open the car first and then no longer start. Therefore, I called them for the first time at 17:30. I was assured that you would take care of the problem and send help within the next 30 minutes. 8 phone calls and 5 hours later, the RACC Team finally arrived and found out that the battery of the car was defective.
They had to bypass the battery and then sent me back to the rental with the defective vehicle. If it should stop again, I should call them directly.
Arrived at the car rental, I described the incident. Complete disinterest. Also my reference with the 180 euros was commented with a grin. I got then first a car in which had been smoked and asked to exchange. The second car was then completely dirty. Unfortunately, there was no alternative.
It was also filled with 80% fuel and the employee told me that I would have to pay extra for this, since the first car was originally filled with only 25% fuel. The defective car, however, I had brought back fully fueled but I didn’t get a confirmation. Asked for it. Also for this no refund was possible. Complete rip-off.

Great customer service
Had an issue with my credit card outside of my control that became a problem when picking up the car at the airport. The Auto Europe team helped to settle the matter with the rental company. Great service.

Seriös!
We rented a car in Sweden for 2 weeks (July 22). Unfortunately Volvo’s collision warning system didn’t work and the bumper was scratched after hitting a street lamp. Hertz charged the maximum excess of 800 Euros for this. Our booking with AutoEurope was with “refundable excess” but we still were very unsure if it really works. We have been travelling for almost 15 years but never had to ask for a refund. And there are so many bad reviews about every company on the internet so you never know what to expect. But! It did really work! AutoEurope has refunded the money! So thank you very much and next time we’ll book with you again!

Autoeurope and SIXT scam - case closed!
Rented a car with Autoeurope in Amsterdam to be picked in the airport.
Upon arrival at Sixt we were informed that they don't have the car seat for our 2 year old that we booked.
After talking to sixt representative over the desk, who understood us, we decided not to take the rental car.
Sixt are saying that they have released the money to Autoeurope.
Autoeurope has confirmed the reimbursement will be done, over the phone.
Still, until today 12 weeks later, we are waiting for our money to be released from Autoeurope.de.
Autoeurope is a complete scam!

15 weeks later and no refund!!!
Today i have sent all my bank extras to both companies to show that no money has entered into my accounts as they are insisting to have paid me.
I have also sent 100-150 e-mails shared during the last 3 months to both parties where i am trying to get the refund without success.
I have spent more than 3 months dealing with these two companies to receive our money back, 396 Euro.
I can prove with documents that i haven't received the money but somehow this is not enough.
I have now contacted The European Consumer Center from Romania for help.

Hi Autoeurope,
Thank you for following up on this case.
I confirm that I now have received the money.
Not into the account that I provided but instead the money entered into a euro account that I honestly forgot that I had.
Case closed.
Thank you!

bait and switch...
Tried a short term lease in Spain which they offer based on the homepage. Only 4 pickup locations in the whole country but OK, tried it anyway. No availability when searching online, I am supposed to call a number.
The number is the normal hotline for the car rental - they knew nothing about short term leasing. Told me to submit a lot of paperwork but could not even tell me whether there is any availability.
The rental prices she quoted where more than double of what you pay when you search outside the big companies like Herz and Sixt that they seem to be restricted on.
So in summary they offer a service they cannot provide and try to scam you into renting an (overpriced) car with them.

Terrible experience
For some reason they booked the car in the wrong city. I didn’t immediately notice it, but they fully blamed me for not noticing the wrong city in the voucher, and did not even allow me to pick up the car at a later date. Very bad experience, and very unpolite and unhelpful customer service. They charged me the full amount despite me not having any way of picking up the car in time given the location

Selling expensive cars, providing lower standard cars
Selling more expensive cars (Nissan +150€) on their homepage, local partner provides only standard car (Dacia)"similar type". No chance receiving money back or different costs, answer from callcenter " depending on answer local partner".
They take actions in the interests of local partners, not costumer! Watch out, maybe this is standard procedure for earning money...

Beware
Beware! No customer service to speak of, only interest in their profit.
I wanted to keep contract but change main driver/credit card holder, was asked to cancel contract and re-book for a 80 Euro penalty. Could not resolve issue with Budget as the broker sits in the middle and blocks customer friendly solution.

Happily ignore cheating by their local partners
I have rented several times via Auto Europe before, without problems (but also without issues where their service could have bene tested). Recently I booked with them, and got the car from Sixt (in Bilbao – re the 2*-review I write for Sixt). I pre-paid the rental, including all insurances I needed/wanted. Sixt then slapped another 60 Euro on top for the 3-day rental, and they only use digital signature pads where customers sign without ever seeing the contract (or seeing the extra charges, which are of course also not mentioned to the customer… ) – the actual invoice is only emailed later on, after you have paid – this approach clearly cannot be legal in any country. I had to complain several times to Sixt to get that extra money back, and also informed Auto Europe. Expected response: this is not their problem, but something to pick up with Sixt. This complete ignorance of their partner systematically cheating customers is just not acceptable. Will look for a different broker in the future

Stay away from AutoEurope - if you ever get in trouble with the local rental company, you're on your own!!
I tried AutoEurope for the first time this summer, since it offered a slightly better price than my usual car rental intermediary. I relied on their reputation and advertisements, and I am now quite sorry for that!
We rented through them a car from Green Motion in Chania Airport, for a two-weeks period, all fully prepaid (450 EUR). We were 2 hours and a few minutes late to pick up our car from Green Motion (due to a flat tyre on our way to the airport) and they simply laughed in our face while pointing out dismissively that they automatically cancel all bookings if the customer is more than 2 hours late at the counter, with no refund. They said that it was not their problem to explain anything to me since “I am not their customer” but the customer of AutoEurope, so I should call and ask AutoEurope for any further assistance.
I then had to call AutoEurope several times and talked to them on the phone for more than an hour or so (from the airport), with no result. The first time I was put on hold for 15-20 mins while the operator said she was checking all this with a supervisor and they finally hung up. So I had to call again, explain everything to another operator, who told me (after another round of internal checks) that indeed the two-hours rule was written “somewhere” in the T&C and that I should read those more carefully (not even an attempt to explain the "reasons" for this 2h pick-up rule for a long-term, pre-paid rental of 2 weeks!). The only proposed alternative to losing all the prepaid amount for the 2-weeks rental (450 EUR) was to lose “only a part” of it if I re-booked by phone through AutoEurope, but the “best available” price to book even the smallest possible car on the spot was exorbitant (between twice and three times the initial price). I later called AutoEurope a third time after trying to rediscuss alternatives with Green Motion and the (third) operator to whom I explained the situation offered at least (for the first time) to discuss directly with GreenMotion Chania and see what can be done. He then got back to me to confirm that nothing else can be done in my case and that I simply lost the money for the 2-weeks rental and have no car.
I then wrote a formal complaint to AutoEurope and I received a reply that they will look into it and get back to me, which did not yet happen even to this day (i.e. after a month).
Therefore, it seems to me that with AutoEurope all is nice and easy in terms of on-line interface, on-line payments and receiving vouchers by email, but everything collapses once somebody actually has a problem with picking up the car or a disagreement with the local rental company. I find it inacceptable, in particular, that AutoEurope (as intermediary) takes part in this type of “scams” of companies such as Green Motion, who are apparently engaging in this practice of invoking the “hidden” 2 hours rule on a regular basis (as we just learned from many other reviews in the meantime), while AutoEurope is perfectly aware of that. However, AutoEurope (i) does not clearly inform their customers in advance of this (rather important!) aspect, (ii) refuses to take into account any objective justifications for such a delay (as in our case) and (iii) is not acting as a real broker on behalf of the client in case of trouble, but simply providing standard, mechanic answers on the phone.

SCAM!!!!
We have rented a car in September 2020. We had a full insurance claiming 100% refund.
Autoeurope charged as a deductible of 1816€ which we never agreed on. Till today 5 months later, we have not received a penny back. THIS IS THE WORST CAR RENTAL COMPANY, DO NOT RECOMMEND. STILL WAITING ON MY MONEY!!!
