We travelled all the way from the aiport only to be husselled for additional fees at time of pick up. When we complained the said too bad. We took an uber to another place. Terrible customer... See more

Unhelpful, unfriendly service at pick-up. Provided with a car with serious damage. Didn't use car for 4 days (at 50 euros per day) until a replacement was provided. Refunded £19.15 and no apology.
I have now received my toll gate charges and although I spent £88 the extra charges on top amount to £143! Not only did I pay for the actual car rental, not have the extra driver as promised, but... See more
Was hesitant due to bad reviews here, but everything went smooth. Got two cans of iced tea for free because it was very hot, both when picking up the car and upon return! Did book full insurance onl... See more
Borderline unbelievable - Auckland Airport
Borderline unbelievable - Auckland Airport. I rented a Land Cruiser for a week. Car was 15 years old. 157k km driven. Not maintained ac giving you allergy. Car stinks so bad you can’t adjust. My estimate is I paid more for the rental than the car is worth for sure. Worst experience ever and I have seen a lot!
Don’t trust
Came to Chch in New Zealand and discovered I had an additional daily payment on top of rental and insurance that made a reasonable deal absolutely ridiculous. The rep was not at all accountable for this and I was tempted to cancel but knew the hassle would be mine, then before we went to drive off my passenger tried to open the car door. Couldn’t open it at all. All in all do not use these guys! Am nervous about getting my deposit back in allocated time after reading other reviews and even having videoed and photographed the car being scammed for damages.
Don't be fooled by their low prices
Don't be fooled by their low prices. They don't tell you all the details. You end up paying fines and administrative costs. Will never use them again, would rather pay much more. It was the worst service I received from a car rental agency.
Scam
The sales rep did not go with me to examine the car, and since it was parked between the two cars I was physically unable to record the video of the small damage below the rear door as it was very well hidden.
Then I received an email where they said they will charge 600 EUR for a miniature damage at the door frame below the rear door.
A pure scam!!!
Not received our deposit back even by paying insurance
We rent a car between the 27th of July and the 29 of July, we paid a deposit which was supposed to be given back 1 month later as maximum because we paid with a debit card. We accepted, signed a contract and also paid an insurance that cover all our potential issues faced. We didn't have any. When we gave back the car, everything was checked and seen as good. They warned us, that we will have our deposit back in month. It has been 3 months, and we still have nothing. So what? Is it a simple forget from yours, or are you trying to steal us money? We were very pleased about the service until this. I am waiting for receiving my money back and hope it will not take again 3 months.
Shitty service AutoUnion in Vienna
Flying from Brussels to Vienna. Our airplane got delayed during boarding with 30 minutes which made use arrive at around 22:15 at the Vienna airport. AutoUnion desks were already closed at 22:00 and after taking contact with their helpdesk, they told me they could not help me further and only checked whether my flight was really delayed otherwise they reported my delay as a no-show (without pay-back). No other solution was offered. I had to look for another car rental company that night! Also, retribution payment takes 21 days!!! Worsed experience ever with a car rental company
Don’t go
Don’t go. After you give the car back you start receiving crazy fines, in periods you didn’t even have the car, without even minimally apologizing for it later. And they take off 50€ every time from your account (just to send your details somewhere) before even telling you anything at all (crazy). If you call, they don’t answer. If you text, they only reply to send you another fine and then stop replying again. Terrible customer service.
On the first day of the school holidays…
On the first day of the school holidays I went to collect a rental from Christchurch autoUnion and received the worst customer care I have ever experienced. The agent was rude aggressive and I was forced to find another rental.
My advice would be DONT book with this company.
BE WARNED
Took an hour to be collected by a extremely rude young woman. She didn't speak and wasn't helpful. Drove using her phone. Cars are literally falling apart. Think they try to get people with the $3k deposit after blaming people for damage to their car...
Positive experience
It looks like this company is a mixed bag - I'm happy to say that they were excellent for us in every way. We didn't have to wait long for pick up or drop off. the car was excellent. The deposit was explained clearly and we were refunded speedily. The price was amazing. I would gladly rent from them again.
Autounion is a desaster
I booked a rental car with Auto Union, via billiger-mietwagen.de! The rental car policy had full coverage for damages via an axa insurance/waiver for the deductible of 500 EUR. Unfortunately, we had an accident. The rental car company (a subcontractor of Autounion) immediately charged ca. 3800 EUR on my credit card. I challenged them to charge only the contractual maximum of 500 EUR - to no effect. This is fraud! On top of this, the Axa insures has not paid the deductible of 500 EUR to this date. Autounion has taken no action and ignored email. I am still waiting for my money.
Don't use this company
Don't use this company , unprofessional , charged for existing damage on car , even with proof . Don't touch this company
Its one big scam
Its one big scam, when we brought back the car they said the interieur had to be cleaned and if we didnt pay €87,- they would call the police and make sure we miss our flight back home, they yelled in front of our kids and started threating and extort us. NEVER HIRE A CAR FROM THIS TERRIBLE COMPANY !
Thrives and con men
Booked a car through Expedia, to pickup @ Kingston airport Jamaica. They didn't arrive at all. We had to spend $150 on a taxis.
Then spent 3 days trying to get the vehicle with no car ever being delivered. When we got Expedia to give us a new car through a different company they refused to refund or money.
Avoid this company like COVID. They are a buck of thieves....
Would recommend this car hire company.
We had a fantastic experience when hiring through Auto Union. Their shuttle bus picked us up from Vienna Airport and drove us quickly to collect the car. The staff were extremely friendly and welcoming. They had superb English and made us feel very comfortable. Rima especially is a credit to the team- she explained everything simply and efficiently. We didn't have a long wait and were on our way very quickly. The cars were all of a good quality and standard. We would recommend.
Vorsicht Trickbetrüger
Caution!!!
If the car rental company knows that there are three of you booking the car (two registered drivers and a booked child seat), you will be presented a car when you pick it up that formally falls into the same horsepower category as the car you booked, but clearly in terms of trunk-volume turns out smaller. You will then be offered a larger car for “only” €10 extra per day.
We had booked a Hyundai Grand i 10 ("or a similar car"). We were presented with a Honda N-One, which even has one more horsepower than the Hyundai (64 instead of 63 horsepower), but which only has half as much trunk space as the Hyundai, so it was clear that three people, who would be on a three-week vacation, couldn’t even begin to accommodate their luggage there (with the rear seat in the Honda N-One not being divisible). We only realized this trick when we looked at our voucher again shortly before returning the car. When we picked up the car, we, as parents with a small child after a 14-hour flight, were simply not awake enough to see through the cheap game.
When the car was returned, the employees insisted that the cars had the same horsepower.
In this respect, we can only warn very clearly about Auto Union Car Rental.
Vorsicht!!!
NEVER RENT A CAR FROM THEM!!
NEVER RENT A CAR FROM THEM!!! Absolutely Horrible customer service. I rented a car from them, it shut down 2 days later. I called NUMEROUS TIMES, was unable to reach anyone. Once, I finally reached someone, I was told that I had to find my OWN roadside service. AGAIN, NEVER RENT FROM THEM!!! Go to a reputable rental agency or you might be extremely disappointed!!
Never hire a car from this company
Never hire a car from this company! We believe we were nearly the victim of the 'chip in the windscreen scam'.
We booked through Discover Cars so did not know this outfit in Rhodes, Greece. We were supplied with a vary nice new VW Up and the lady who handed it over to us was English and very pleasant. However, she said that it was a new car so there wouldn't be any marks on it but when we checked it thoroughly with her and we found at least four marks that were not on her sheet. We, rather ignorantly, did not take photo but they may have not helped us in our case anyway.
We had no problems while on holiday and on our return to company we filled up the fuel and the petrol station washed our windscreen for us. It was immaculate.
When you return your car to Autounion they make you drive it round to their automated car wash and take all your stuff out of it. They then put the car through the car wash immediately while you go round to reception to complete the paperwork. This time, at the desk, was a very grumpy, unfriendly Greek man. He grunted at me saying he had to go and check the car. He did not check the car in our presence but left us waiting in reception. After at least 10 minutes he returned asked if I took photos? When I said that I didn't take photos he told me there was a problem as he had found a chip in the windscreen. Both my daughter and I were incredulous, and told him that in no uncertain circumstances was there a chip in the windscreen! We told him we had just had the windscreen washed and it was immaculate. He was very rude and demanded we went and sat down while he checked our contract. ???? By this time we were getting very worried as we needed to get to the airport for our flight and this outfit is out of town so they had to transfer us.
While he was in the office, seemingly rummaging through paperwork and talking to someone loudly on the phone in Greek, my daughter and I began to Google car hire scams involving chips on the windscreen and were shocked to find it definitely was a thing! While we were doing this a Greek family came in to return their car, and they didn't even check it, but let them go straight away.
We must have waited 20 minutes and I had already decided I was going to get a taxi to the airport and was not going to agree to any extra charges, when all of the sudden, the man came back and said we could go. No explanation or anything. And they did transfer us to the airport.
I have no idea what went on, but all I would say is I believe this to be a scam. Otherwise, why not check the car in our presence? And why suddenly let us go if they really believed there was a chip?
Really unpleasant end to our holiday.

Old car, rented in Montego Bay and the car didn’t matched my expectations. We dad to pay an extra to have access to Bluetooth in a car where not even aux input was installed.
Only good point they gave us back all the deposit ( after 10 days I had lost the hope but arrived)
Still waiting for my deposit after 55…
Still waiting for my deposit after 55 days!!!!
The local company name is called golden key car rental. The pickup/drop-off was good. However, it has been 55 days since I dropped off the car and they have not returned my deposit despite numerous calls and messages.
