Scammers

The worst rental car company ever . Bad cars crappy unprofessional customer service with zero communication . I rented a car when I was in Dubai and the process of handling was so poor in delivering the car and in receiving it . They didnt even have a location in the airport . They make their driver meeting me in a parking lot near the airport area in the middle of the heat & humidity . First thing he asked for was an instant good review about them which I refused until finishing the whole experience . They took big security deposit charged to my credit card and they have never return it back . A bunch of scammers

Excellent company

Excellent company, great customer service, and terrific price. They are off the terminal, but picked me up 5 minutes after I called them. Used them several times and will use again. Mishel

A bunch of theiving charlatans.

A bunch of theiving charlatans.

Would give negative stars, if I could.

Crappy ancient cars without basic entertainment system, or usb charging.

Had to refuse 2 and wait any age to get approved something half decent.

To make matters much, much worse. The reverse camera on the newer car was fitted upside down! That means, when you reverse the right side of the screen is not showing the right side of the car. It's showing the left side. It was about 1m out. The first time I reversed, I scraped a fence post and they kept all my $3000 deposit because of the damage to the car's wheel arch (another scam because there's no way it cost that much to repair). Luckily it was post I reversed into and not a child.

They accepted no liability for renting me a dangerous car.

Smooth experience with Autounion at Tirana airport

We rented a car for a week and got a slightly bigger car than rented at no extra cost.
The information entered tru the website was actually available in the system, so no annoying need to repeat all information at the counter, just had to provide drivers licenser and sign the papers.
The car was clean, and ready in a few minutes.
Unfortunately the car got a small scratch while parked, but no extra cost was charged even though the car was almost new.
All in all a very positive first time experience with Autounion

The worst experience ever!

The worst experience ever!
Never book with this company.
My flight was delayed which they had my flight number , had to get taxi to the rental place they were closing up I Said I had a booking they Said too bad we closing . I was in the middle if no where and had no place to stay he didn't care at all come back tomorrow. So I did then they Saud my booking was canceled plus they wouldn't accept my license as I have a full driver's license with learners motorcycle and they thought I just had a learners and had no idea about this . So they wouldn't rent me a car at all. Sooo terrible so I had to book at juicy rental they gave me car right away. Never will I book with you ever again. Not even a sorry!

Won't use again

We have just had a car for 8 days from Auckland airport branch. The car had not been cleaned properly, we found 8 tubs of yoghurt in the glove box, and used tissues on the back seat. For the first time my husband was refused driving, being over 80 so I had to do it all. He has had no problem from other NZ companies, and in USA. When we first collected the vehicle, it was 'you take photos' of any existing scratches, dents etc, plus pay $3000 bond (which was refunded on return). We won't use AutoUnion again.

Worse Experience Ever!!

It took 45mins to be collected by shuttle bus from Auckland airport. Then it took 3 hours to finalise car hire because staff wanted me to pay $3000 bond for a $195 rental.

I rented a van from NU - Autounion Car Rental

I rented a van from NU, also known as Autounion car rental, at Dubai Airport. The van was passable, though showing signs of wear with high mileage. They required a $1,000 deposit, promising its return upon van return. However, despite assurances, the deposit refund was delayed. After 20 days, they informed me to expect the refund. Yet, two months elapsed with ongoing WhatsApp communication, only to receive promises of checking and updates. Three months later, they ceased responding altogether, offering no explanation or refund. I have decided against renting from them in the future based on this experience.

Terrible customer service

Terrible customer service - DO NOT USE! our flight was delayed so we got to auckland at 7pm. Called for the shuttle and it just rang through. Got a taxi there to find them closed. They made no attempt at communication with us. They hadn't left the keys with the after hours service. Had to book into an airport hotel costing $200 with a 10 month old baby and come back the next day. Ofcourse they wouldn't refund us for the inconvenience because "our opening hours are on our website". The lady at reception was so rude, continuously interupting us!! Never using this service again

DODGY AS HELL

Gave us a car with tyres that had wire showing through. VERY unsafe! Luckily we discovered this at our first stop as I know they would have charged us for "USAGE". Then tried to make us pay for a cracked light which we didn't do but they insisted we had. Again luckily one of the photos I took showed the crack was already there and the guy knew it as he found it immediately when we brought the car back. They then billed us for an "unpaid Toll" yet when I sent the receipt for the paid toll they refused to refund the fee. Wish I had read these reviews beforehand.

DO NOT BOOK WITH AUTO UNION!

Booked a car in Auckland for a week. Was a disaster!

Waited 40 minutes at the airport to be collected. Was then taken to their lot and presented with the car. Left their place an hour and a half after reaching their pick up point at the airport.

It was disgusting. 180,000km on it and it made so many weird noises, and was worn and dirty inside. Radio unusable as the display was so scratched. Could not drive at night as headlights so scratched. Called back after 24 hours and told nothing else available so had to keep with the full week.

Took it back and told all ok and then hours later charged $200 for a tyre that had worn through as it was so old, you can see how worn the whole tyre is in the pictures but they say it is damage.

So they gave me an unsafe, dirty, only partially usable car. There is a reason they may come up cheaper than the other main companies, do yourself a favour and pay the extra for peace of mind.

Also be wary if you are over 70. Saw another customer who had made a booking, but hidden away in the t&cs is info that their “standard” insurance does not cover him and he has to pay another $250 at the desk. This is something that I feel that should be raised at time of booking when drivers age is entered!

Looking for every chance to add costs on you.

I rented a car with registration WQZ537 on Malta.
1. Wrong google maps address on booking.com (cost us 2 hours)
2. They only accepted my VISA debit card if I pay 96 Euros and pay 400 Euros in cash for deposit. They don't return cash deposit.
3. They don't return cash deposit in cash. They hold your deposit for about 4 weeks until they return to your bank account (i hope so). Customer service replies with "these are our terms". So take it or leave it. I recommend leave this company!

The worst experience with AUTO UNION

Booked a car through ECONOMY CAR RENTALS for the 29th of December 2023 for 4 days at Vienna airport. The shuttle bus was very easy to find and took us to the pick up site with no problem. There, i presented my documents but unfortunately found out that my driving licence was expired. The lady there showed unspeakable rudeness and made everything she could not to help us. Her words were..., i do not care i close in half hour and the only thing i can do is to take you back to the airport to find another company to rent a car. That was after i could not get in contact with ECONOMY CAR RENTALS either by phone or email. My proposal was to forget about the booking i made and make another contract on my wife, charge me again and give me the car was already reserved for me. She just said i cannot do that. Finally we were taken back to the airport and rented a new car from another company. I understand that there might be some regulations but the behaviour of that lady there was enough for me to say that i would rather walk than to take a car from AUTO UNION again. They just took my money without giving me a car and sent me away, when my wife had all documents needed.

DO NOT USE!!!

DO NOT USE. Booked via Discover Cars website. 1) not clear I would need 5k on my credit card to hire the car prior to accepting first offer, therefore price doubled to get the 5k BOND down to $500. I’ve never been charged a bond before, but an option to reduce the insurance excess. 2) car was old and in average condition and it didn’t sound well 3) upon return the employee or owner tried to blame us for tiny scratches on the window (of an old average condition car). Thankfully we had pictures of the window screen. It felt like this guy was after our bond money and maybe an insurance claim. 4)
Aside from the girl who picked us up from the airport, the customer service was terrible. 5) this place is quite a distance from the airport. I would not use either of these companies in the future as not clear what you’re actually getting, cost doubled, distance to airport and the car rental company was very poor for the reasons above. Appreciate Discovercars reimbursing some of the extra funds we paid to get full cover insurance.

Very happy with Autounion

We had very bad experience with Monza and Discover Car cancelled our reservation with them and booked with Autounion. Very good customer service. They’ve updated our car in the same price. Highly recommend them and I will use their service again.

Avoid this company

Avoid this company! (Otopeni Airport in Romania) Citroen C-4 car in poor condition with almost 80,000 kilometers. The chassis feels unstable. Although I refueled with 20 km to go. before delivery (the gas station receipt was shown) they demanded payment of 80 euros because the gas tank was not full. The tank has a small capacity, so the use of 1 liter is visible on the panel. It is technically impossible to fill 100,000 percent.

Terrible service and poor communication

I took out car hire with Autounion in New Zealand, but had full coverage insurance with Discover cars. I had an accident and did not get the claim details until 2 months after I returned the car as Autounion forgot to send me the details. Discover cars would then not accept my claim as it was more than 28 days after I had returned the car. I lost NZ$3000 due to no fault to my own. I will never use Autounion or Discover cars again.

I do not recommend this company

I do not recommend this company, or if you do use them, book directly with them rather through a generic booking website. Booking website (not autounion's) misrepresented location as being at airport whereas it was a significant distance away. Company closes at 17:00, something not initially revealed by booking website (again, the third party website, not autounion itself). As our flight only got in at 16:30 and the airport was congested we could not make the pick up in time. They did not answer their phone either. Finally, autounion itself attempted to carry out a bond transaction on my credit card (for insurance I did not need as I already had travel insurance) which caused the bank to freeze my card for suspected fraud. Amazingly, the autounion agent must surely have known that this would happen as he pointed to a warning sign behind the counter AFTER he had attempted the transaction. All in, a very horrible start to my short holiday.

Great experience

Great experience, very professional and honest, absolutely highly recommended. We rented a car from Fez to Marrakech, it was a good choice. Operators are very friendly and honest. All worked ok. Highly recommended
