The service - collection and drop off was great - I was met at the airport and met outside the office at drop off (different location), with friendly staff. Really happy on that - 5 stars. However, I afraid I can only give an average review overall as the actual hire car really wasn’t great. I was expecting a relatively new Polo or Swift, not a 122,000km (76,000 mile) Renault Clio. I can only assume I had one of the oldest cars of Avax’s fleet!

We were renting a car for 4 days (Suzuki Swift) in Makarska. I believe this is the best service for renting a car.
1) No deposit (at least if you include max insurance)
2) Friendly support
3) Car was delivered to the hotel and was picked up from the hotel.
4) 10 minutes to sign a contract and check the car
5) Good condition of the car
6) At least for me it was a very economy car (9 l/km)
I want to say thank you for your job! You are amazing!

Long story short: AVAX IS THE BEST. I rented a car in May 2021 to visit Montenegro for 4 days upon arrival at the Dubrovnik airport - it was the second time I've hired a car from them, because my first rental in 2019 to go from Split to Zagreb went so well. They were awesome as always.

Petra in Dubrovnik contacted me when my flight landed to make arrangements for me to find where she and the car were waiting, which I didn't expect and very much appreciated, never having had visited their Dubrovnik airport office. We quickly dealt with the paperwork, assessed the car condition and then out of her own personal generosity, suggested that upon returning from Montenegro, that I meet her in their Dubrovnik city office rather than the airport office which I had scheduled, in order to save me bus or taxi fare to the old town. She then said that when I drop the car off she would drive me the 3-4 miles from that office to the old town gate of my choice. Service like this is so rare and appreciated, it's why I will use Avax again every chance I get. They are fantastic (and unlike Sixt, don't charge a daily out-of-country fee if you visit a neighboring country). The are the best and I can attest to it. THANK YOU PETRA, YOU WERE AWESOME!

They drove 3 hours to bring our car to our door in Omis (delivered it from Dubrovnik) when we booked it on line at 11pm the night before. INCREDIBLE customer service and very friendly. Car was in great condition. No problems at all. When we dropped it back off in Dubrovnik they drove us back to our hotel for free. We got the full insurance so we didn’t have to worry about anything.

I needed a car from Split to Dubrovnik and read such positive review and I booked with them. The reason for the two stars is because first of all, the car wasn’t cleaned and what’s worst is the gas tank was empty. I ran back inside and ask them for the cloesest gas station. Know that I am a tourist and not a local and driving to a gas station with an empty tank was freaking me out and The stress level was high. I wish I had a more pleasant rental experience. Note: it was not a high season in Split, Sept 30, 2020

We rented from AVAX when we visited Balkan area and are very happy with our rental experience. They are the only company that allows us to go to countries like Albania and Kosovo. Their price is very competitive and they even ordered a new vehicle for us because the extended duration of our rental. Everything went smoothly as planned. We highly recommended AVAX.

Avax was great. I planned a road trip in the balkans including Albania and Kosovo. Avax was the only rent a car online, that i could do all the process online clear and smooth, with total price of service with no questions (about taking the car to other countries and to kosovo, boscnia, albania, etc.). I included in the reservation, the albania kosovo extra, 2nd driver was free (very useful for a 5000kms road trip), the ferry extra (it was free too), and most important the Total maximum cover insurance (0€ fee). The only need from Avax is that if there was an accident, you have to call the police, and have the participation, this is ok, since it is need to validate the insurance claim. The car was a Suzuki Vitara in excellent conditions, very comfy, low consumption and very suitable for the road trip. All went ok, and I am very pleased with all the process. Thanks Avax. From start to finish communication was great. Car clean and in good working order. Pick up and drop off straightforward and friendly helpful staff , much better supporting a local company and better value for money as 2 extra drivers allowed at no extra cost. Croatia Oct 2019 . Fantastic!!! The people who work here are great — I accidentally went to the wrong pickup location, so they drove to my hotel and picked me up 💯💯💯 Excellent customer service, great communication (they respond very quickly on WhatsApp), free border crossings (they provide the green permit card), convenient pickup/drop off locations (one near Rixos Hotel/Old Town and another at Dubrovnik airport), and they are one of the few places in Dubrovnik where you can rent a car with automatic transmission 👍 Also, the cars at are very new, so mine had Apple CarPlay, which was perfect as a tourist since I needed Google Maps to go everywhere. I highly recommend renting at Avax!!!

Picked up a car from split centre and delivered it back to Zadar airport. When we picked up the car it was covered in hundreds of scrapes and scratches and hadn’t been looked after. When a car is so visibly battered it makes you question the safety and quality of the car. When we questioned all the marks, the employee clearly couldn’t have cared less and didn’t offer any alternatives. Never the less we took the car and returned it back to Zadar airport a couple of days later. Upon arriving at the airport there was no employee from Avax present (despite it being within their hours). We had to wait around 15 minutes for him to turn up (when we called he was still making his way to work!!). There were a couple of people in the queue in front of us who had already been waiting 45 minutes when we arrived and were going to miss an attraction they had booked tickets for due to his lateness. When we returned the car the employee did not bother to check the car with us, just told us to give him the keys and paperwork and leave. I would not use this company again and would not recommend to others.

We hired a car from Split city centre. The man who served us was friendly, professional and gave us good tips about the car. We were upgraded and he took his time explaining the terms and conditions and any current damage to the car. We dropped the car back earlier than we had planned, but he was so accommodating and helpful. Great experience with Avax!

I selected AVAX because of the good ratings which were obviously well deserved. Unquestionably the easiest most efficient car rental I have ever done.
Pick up in Dubrovnik was fast and easy - reserved on line the night before and all was ready- in and out in 5 min. Turned the car in in Split and that was also 3 min. Rates were also better than others. Highly recommend

Car I requested was not available so told I was being given a car which would be collected again that evening. After waiting around for half of first day someone called at 7pm with the same car as I already had in manual instead of automatic. This was a cheaper car than I paid for but no effort made to recoup balance to me or no gesture at compensating me for wasted time waiting for cars to be swapped to suit Avax. Car I had was fine but I would not use the company again after how this experience with them.

Overall, a good experience. We chose this local company as they provided extras for free that the larger companies charged extras for - additional driver and a green card for crossing the borders with Bosnia and Montenegro. The cost of renting a GPS was also good at €45 for 2 weeks. Also, we could specify a Suzuki Vitara, which is exactly what we got. The car was almost new, very clean and in excellent condition. The Dubrovnik office is off-airport but only a short walk from the terminal. You just have to be careful crossing the main road with suitcases. An official crossing point would be much safer. We had quite a delay picking up the car as there is only one person on duty at a time and there were two other families ahead of us in the queue, each of whom had non-straightforward bookings resulting in lengthy discussions. Fortunately, our car pickup and subsequent drop-off was quick and easy.

Everything was very easy. I got a message with the phone number when I arrived at the airport and I just had to contact the agent.
The car was 1 minute away from Split airport and the process was very quick.
The delivery at Dubrovnik was even quickier. The car was in good condition.

Excellent Service , was met at arrivals paperwork was done in less than 5 minutes and car was great. Drop off was easy as well , would 100% use these again, much better than the big corporate companies.

Great service - friendly guy who even picked us up and dropped us off at the port, even out of office. Amazing experience.
