Unhappy with customer service

Wouldn't give them one star if I had the chance. My daughter suffers from schizophrenia and I ordered a bed but made a genuine mistake on the website to collect old bed. I paid extra £25 to get a delivery slot to enable me to travel 30 miles train/bus only to find they arrived early and I had missed them by 10 mins. I phoned the company to try and sort it out but was informed it would cost £60 and would need to be rescheduled. I was advised to write an email to cancel which I did then later I received an email to say I had to pay £60 for returning it - didn't even leave the van. I refused to pay the extra money so I lost £60 they lost a sale of over £600
I would try others like beds on legs and beds.co.uk offer the same quality and some are the same makes a lot cheaper.

Thank you for your reply managed to get the same bed cheaper with beds on line and fantastic customer service for less than the price refunded.

We understand that you had an issue with the collection option where you thought you had selected the recycle option during your online order. As my colleague explained, in the second image you sent showing the shopping cart there is the ‘add bed/mattress removal.’ when you click on that it shows all of the options and costs for the removal service and gives you the option to add them to the cart.
As a company, we strive to provide clear instructions and flexible options for our customers and believe the visibility of this option is as clear as it can be.

Our delivery and collection services are scheduled to ensure efficiency and reliability for all our clients. Our third-party couriers do their best to adhere to the estimated time slots. In this instance, our records indicate that our delivery team arrived within the scheduled window which was booked as an ‘AM’ slot. The timeslot which was within these times is an estimated slot so someone would need to be in the property between 8am-12pm. Unfortunately, they were unable to complete the delivery as no one was available at the address. The team followed the standard procedure in such cases which would include returning the goods to the depot.

The fee mentioned for rescheduling and returning the item is in line with our stated policies, which are designed to cover the redelivery or return collection charge as we pay for space on the vehicle to have the goods either redelivered or returned to us. These terms are communicated on our website prior to placing any order with us.

We also note that you chose to cancel the order after being informed of the rescheduling fee. While we respect your decision, we are obligated to apply the return collection charge as per our terms of service, which were acknowledged at the time of purchase.

If you have any further questions or require additional clarification regarding our policies, please do not hesitate to contact our customer service team.

BedStar & Birlea Furniture Suppliers be Warned

Ok so please see my review below, following a recent number of purchases and appalling delivery service that followed.
BedStar use a furniture supplier called Birlea and in fairness to BedStar it was Birlea’s delivery team who let my disabled wife and I down so badly.
That said my contract of purchase and delivery was with BedStar and they had the ultimate responsibility to put things right that had gone so wrong.
Firstly BedStar arranged delivery with me for Monday the 8th December and I took a day off work to accommodate the delivery so my wife would not have to deal with it, I was promised a text on the day to advise of a delivery slot and BedStar advertise a team of training technicians to deliver larger items to any room of your choosing.
On the day of arranged delivery, gets to around 11am approx and no text received with advised delivery window ? Calls BedStar and a short time later I receive an email to advise, there had been an error with their supplier Birlea and my Willis and Gambier chest of drawers had not been scheduled for delivery on the day I was advised it would be delivered on.
Contacts BedStar delivery arranged for next day and it was put down to an error and that was it as far as their Manager Christina was concerned. These things happen I was advised and the fact it had cost me a wasted days annual leave didn’t matter.

Following the delivery the next day which my wife sadly had to put up with see full details below of what I would consider as a failed delivery and breach of my contract with BedStar. I did give Christina the opportunity to put things write and cover the £80 cost I subsequently paid a local Professional Movers Company to lift the Willis and Gambier chest of drawers from the front door hall way where BedStar had abandoned it to my wife’s bedroom, however she declined to do this stating I would have let the delivery company Birlea come back and “ try “ to move it to my wife’s bedroom. I had no choice given the previous experience with Birlea’s deliver men but to refuse this as we no longer trusted them and were not going to let them back in our home after the way they had previously spoken with and interacted with my disabled wife. So everyone is clear it took the Professional Deilvery Team I arranged less than 10 minutes and without any problems or stress to lift said chest of drawers to my wife’s bedroom.

Please allow me to be clear, my review is not about the Outstading beauty and quality of the Willis and Gambier furniture piece’s I recently added to my collection.
No this review to make member’s of the Public aware of who not to purchase their Willis and Gambier products through
I looked through the Internet on infamous Black Friday and found the Ivory Collection Double Wardrobe and 8 Drawer Chest of Drawers being offered through a Company called BedStar via the furniture wholesaler called Birlea.
WOW what a big mistake, delivery arranged and confirmed for Monday 8th Dec 2025, so I took day of work to receive items, come the 8th no delivery, no communication to advise what had occurred. I called Bedstar who contacted Birlea the Supplier and who was delivering the items. Advised that an error had occurred and items not getting delivered till next day !! When what a waste of my day off. When the “so called “ Fully Trained Delivery Technicans arrived the next day to deliver to “ any room of my choice “ they were thoroughly Unprofessional and quite rude to my unwell disabled wife !! They managed to deliver the 3 boxes that make up the Double Ivory Wardrobe, however simply dropped the 8 drawer chest of drawers in the middle of my entrance hall stating they didn’t have to take it to the bedroom it was only required to be in the door !!
Many emails to Bedstar and photo’ s of stairs and images of actual measurements later I was advised that Birlea would contact me to arrange to return and “ try “ to move the chest of drawers upstairs to my wive’s bedroom.
Sorry but enough is enough, I wouldn’t trust the Birlea delivery team back in my home and don’t think they should be allowed to deliver high end quality goods. To be honest I wouldn’t let them deliver a Pizza. I have now arranged at my own cost to have a true team of local furniture delivery professionals move said chest of drawers to its required destination, ie upstairs in wives bedroom.

Moral of all this would be YES do purchase Willis and Gambier furniture, it’s really fantastic quality and so well built, just check who you buy it from and avoid Bedstar and more importantly any Retailer that uses Birlea to supply your order.

I did contact Birlea and gave them the opportunity to put things right, however over a week and no contact from their Transport Manager.

Moral of my Review “ BEWARE of purchasing from BEDSTAR and any other Retailer that fulfills your order through the Supplier “BIRLEA”

We acknowledge that the communication regarding your delivery window on December 8th was not handled as expected. We also recognize that the follow-up delivery service did not meet expectations for professionalism or care.

As you were aware we contacted our supplier to investigate the reason why the item was not taken to your chosen room of choice, we were advised by our supplier their delivery team felt the item would not go up the stairs without causing any damage to the property. As advised on our website it remains the customers responsibility to ensure the goods will fit through the intended space.

After forwarding the requested measurements you very kindly sent to us, our supplier agreed they would send the team back to attempt to deliver the item to the room of choice. We understand you decided against this taking place therefore declining the resolution; based on this, we would not cover the cost of another party taking the goods to the intended room.

At Bedstar, we are committed to providing a smooth and supportive customer experience from purchase to delivery and as this fell short on this occasion, we are actively reviewing the events with our supplier and their delivery partners to understand how improvements can be made with their processes and communication.

We are pleased to hear you are happy with the quality and beauty of Willis and Gambier furniture and apologize on this occasion this wasn’t matched by a seamless service experience, by our supplier’s delivery partners.

Finally, I am sorry to hear you have not received a response from our supplier's Transport Manager, rest assured I will be sure to pass this onto them.
