I ordered an expensive swim set. Yes it came %100 see through, which ends up being not as bad when you put it on, but this might be a deal breaker for some people. My issue was that when I tried on the bathing suit bottoms straight out of the bag they fell apart into my hand, the seams were never closed properly I guess so as soon as I went to put it on the straps fell right off of the bikini bottom and there was no way to tie them up. I emailed customer service right away and they said because the item was on sale that I could not refund or replace them and that they could offer me a partial credit which was maybe half the cost of the bottoms which would not come close to buying me a new pair of bottoms. This is the worst customer service response I think I have ever encountered

So many bikinis I’ve ordered online end up being disappointing. This is the opposite. It’s gorgeous, comfortable, and exactly as described.

I buy swimwear regularly because I live near the coast, and I’ve tried everything from high-street brands to luxury labels. BetterTan is one of the few that actually feels as good as it looks. The stitching is neat, no loose threads, and the cut is flattering from every angle. The fabric has this buttery feel that doesn’t rub or chafe, even after hours at the beach. The tan-through feature is such a clever bonus – I don’t have those thick bikini strap tan lines anymore. I’ve already told three of my friends about it and two of them have ordered.

HORRIBLE HORIIBLE HORRID !!! SEE-THROUGH and they won't give you your money back or exchange your products.

THESE ARE COMPLETELY SEE THROUGH, and Better Tan did nothing to refund my $350. Don't be fooled by the great discounts, as they will use that to not refund you for a faulty product. I sent photos of the togs ( 2 sets) from behind where my "behind" was out on full display so you an imagine what the front looked like. Also taken in both indirect and direct sunlight as they tried to use that as an excuse. It clearly says "not see through" under the tog I purchased, 100% false, very upsetting and costly experience.

I can’t even review the product because they can’t tell me where my Bikini is. I’m fairly certain it’s been sitting in the warehouse for two weeks while they keep telling me it’s shipped. Needless to say it won’t be here for my vacation now.

The sizing is all off…the waistband on the bikini has zero stretch and I could barely get it over my hips. I’m a size medium and weigh 128lbs. The tie string on the top is flimsy. I tied to email the company using the address provided on the confirmation emails I received and got a “delivery status failure” message so there’s no way to contact them. I bought these on sale and still paid too much.

Wore this all summer so far and it’s still in perfect shape. Doesn’t fade, doesn’t stretch weird, and the fit is still as good as day one.

I am still dealing with the tan I got from 2 years ago. This did not let sun through. At all This company is a scam. Good for nothing. Can’t believe they’re still in business.

Update: still dealing with this tan in 2026.
Company asked for verification that this was a legitimate purchase. My order # was 9779. Still mind blowing they’re still selling merchandise under false advertising.

NEXT UPDATE!!! Update following their response. I just decided to check the better business bureau and this company has had 5 complaints so far, with mine being processed now to be the 6th. Search for Better Business Bureau, BetterTanswimwear, and click on complaints.

Purchased the "tan through" bikini and wore twice with harsh tan lines both times. First time no sun screen second time 3x applications of sunscreen in 3 hours (was kayaking).
Requested a refund for fraudulent products and was refused.
Expensive and fraudulent.

Cute swimsuits, but frustrating customer service and slow refunds

BetterTan definitely makes adorable swimsuits—I loved the designs, and their staff was polite and friendly. No issues there.

The problems started when I needed a different color. I emailed to ask if they could simply charge my card and re-send the correct color (and refund me later), but I never received a response. I followed up multiple times with no success. In the end, I had to place a new order myself. Thankfully, there was a buy-one-get-one sale, and when I paid extra for shipping, the swimsuits did arrive on time.

The return process, however, was the real issue. I had to follow up three separate times, and it still took them more than four weeks from the day they received the return to issue my refund. Their explanation was that they were “very busy,” but to me, that is not a reasonable excuse—processing a simple return should not take over a month.

Bottom line: the swimsuits are cute, but the customer service and refund process were unacceptable for the price point they charge. If you order, I recommend planning for delays and being ready to chase down your refund if you need one.

Aside from the fact that they do not work to give a more even tan the sizing is terribly small.

I used the size guide and they were about 2 sizes smaller than advertised on the chart.

I ordered at the start of May, stating it would be delivered in about 2 weeks. It is now the middle of August and I have received nothing. You can't get a hold of anyone just a bot. They ignore my emails. I got scammed out of $100..

Shame on me for purchasing this. I used the measly 15% discount, when top arrived I didn’t like the way it fit. I can’t get my money back, only store credit due to the discount. Should not have bought in the first place. Buyer beware!

The swim suit is HUGE. I’m a zero/xs and there is no way the xs size would ever fit me. Size chart is wrong, and the ratings on their website are fake. Horrible customer service as well, tried to return and they will only offer store credit, don’t buy with a discount if you’re looking to just try it. Definitely don’t buy if you are petite!!!

Hey, so I bought a better tan bikini. I read the reviews, (on the site and tiktok I should’ve known better) and I saw that they were promoting what a tan would look like with a tan through bikini, which was basically nonexistent with no harsh tan lines. I can’t even write a review on their page. I was outside today, the UV was 9 it was 92° outside, suns out, winds blowing. I did 20 minutes on my front and 20 minutes on my back. I went back inside to go take a shower, and I had horrible tan lines from the bikini that was supposed to not give me harsh tan lines. I tried taking photos which you can’t kind of see them, but they’re worse than what the photos show you, it’s two different colors. It’s brown and a light olive. I’m so disappointed. It’s not like they’ll give me a refund on it. But I spent so much money. Over $100 after shipping, taxes, everything. For me to not tan through the bikini like they guys have promoted and shown through pictures of what a tan is supposed to look like after you wear the bikini. On top of that, I followed the size chart which I have talked to somebody about before. I followed the size chart and based off what they said, I would wear in their bikinis a large which is what I got. That was too tight on me and when I got it and obviously also can’t return it. I’m so utterly disappointed, I spent so much money on a bikini so I wouldn’t get harsh tan lines because I have a ball that I have to go to in a few months and i’m also possibly getting proposed to during that time. I did not want to wear a ball dress and have horrible tan lines on me, so I spent over $100 for bikini that was supposed to fix that problem, for it to work just like my regular bikini that I might’ve spent $15 on and give me those harsh tan lines.

Sizing chart is wrong, product does not tan as advertised leaving drastic tan lines, and see-through so can't even wear it in public. Complete waste of money. Return policy is trash as you still end up spending more money.

I would’ve given zero stars if I could!
I initiated a refund with Better Tan Swim back in February 2025 and even returned the unwanted and unworn products as instructed, from Australia and out of my own pocket. It’s now May 2025 and I’ve had no response from them on issuing a refund. An absolute clown of a business run by gypsy scammers.

The Belize tan through swim suit was way too short in the torso...my breasts hung out! When I tried to return it I realized that I would have to send it back to somewhere in Eastern Europe which would cost me more than $20....However, I decided to return it anyway, but despite several emails, I never heard back from the company on how to return it. BEWARE OF BUYING ANYTHING FROM ABROAD!
