I ordered a specific, numbered bonsai (Pinus thunbergii Nr.08) from the "Genummerd" (Numbered) collection. According to the website's promotion for this collection, these are "unique bonsais of which there is only 1". I paid for this exact tree.
However, I received a completely different, generic tree.
The "customer service" is an absolute farce and a maze of lies:
The first lie: In response to my complaint, I was coldly told that all photos were just "example pictures." This is demonstrably false for the "Genummerd" collection.
The second lie: After I proved I had purchased "Nr.08", there was radio silence for 4 days. Then came the next excuse: suddenly, the "Nr.08" tree was allegedly "not in good condition" (sick).
The "Forced Goodwill": As a "gesture of goodwill" (their words), they sent me an allegedly "more valuable" tree – without my consent, without asking, without even informing me.
So which lie is true? Was it an "example picture" or was the "specific tree Nr.08" sick? Both cannot be true at the same time.
This is not a "gesture." This is fraud. They knowingly sell unique, numbered items that they either don't have or don't intend to deliver, and then send an unsolicited replacement.
I have ordered from many different bonsai shops in Europe and ALWAYS received the exact tree that was pictured. Bonsaiwonder is the first shop that has so brazenly deceived me.
P.S.: My first critical review on their internal platform (Judge.me) was censored and never published. This shop actively deletes negative criticism to maintain their facade.
ABSOLUTELY DO NOT RECOMMEND. STAY AWAY!

It was a traumatic experience in the end, as the shipping left a lot to be desired and ruined the purchase and overall experience.
The bonsai was transported upside down and arrived almost completely destroyed. I believe it was the shipping company, not the bonsai company. In any case, having to retrieve the bonsai was ultimately terrible, and I don't know if I'll be able to resist.
