Ongoing dispute since July 2023

I've had an ongoing dispute with this company since July -hiring me a class of car that didn't actually exist and refusing to refund me.

Their stance on the issue is nothing short of a scam.

They have now started emailing me in arabic!

Very poor service

Very poor service, i contacted them for refund with email but the email they sent me it is wrong, the email on website it’s also wrong after searching I contacted them with WhatsApp she gave me new email is not even on website and estate I should notify them with this email I couldn’t find. No compliment link. No manger email address after all I’m not able to get refund because I sent wrong email. This company is fraud and scamming people credit.

We were cheated!

We were cheated!

In Alghero, Sardinia, we never got the keys to our car, which had been prepaid with a Visa card, as the credit card, that had to be used at the airport as security for damage, was not a real credit card, but a debit card.
Contacting Cartrawler did not help and we ended up having to rent another car at the airport.
Subsequently, Cartrawler did not want to refund the car rental, as the "conditions" surrounding the type of credit card were not met.

Never rent a car through Cartrawler! Go directly to the established car rental companies!

I recently had a deeply concerning experience with a car rental company operating at Miami Airport, and I feel compelled to share my cautionary tale to prevent others from falling victim to a blatant scam. My family's trip took an unfortunate turn due to what can only be described as a classic bait-and-switch maneuver.
I had meticulously booked and paid for a car rental, complete with the necessary insurance coverage, to ensure a smooth arrival for my wife and children at Miami Airport. However, upon their arrival at the rental office, chaos ensued. It was midnight, and the last thing anyone expected was to be hit with distressing news: the reserved car was suddenly unavailable.
What unfolded next was a shockingly audacious scheme. My family was told that the very same car I had booked was indeed available, but here's the catch: it would require an additional payment of $340. As if that weren't enough, the situation escalated further as they were coerced into purchasing insurance at a staggering cost of $45 per day.
This deceitful tactic, known as the "bait and switch," is a manipulative ploy that leaves customers feeling trapped and exploited. By advertising one price and then revealing hidden costs upon arrival, these rental companies capitalize on travellers' vulnerability and fatigue after a long journey. It's not just a matter of financial strain; it's a violation of trust and tarnishing of what should be a smooth travel experience.
Before this experience, I had heard warnings about such scams, but I never anticipated falling prey to one myself. It's evident that this car rental company's priorities lie in maximizing its profits, even if it means sacrificing customer satisfaction and ethical business practices.
I implore anyone considering renting a car at Miami Airport, or anywhere else for that matter, to exercise extreme caution. Research the company thoroughly, read reviews, and if possible, opt for reputable rental agencies with transparent pricing policies. Document every step of the booking process, keep all correspondence and ensure you fully understand the terms and conditions, including potential hidden fees.
Let my family's unfortunate encounter serve as a stark reminder to remain vigilant against these dishonest practices. We deserve better than to be taken advantage of during what should be a joyful and memorable journey. Worst car rental company I have ever…

Worst car rental company I have ever used. Don't use them. If you have the slightest problem (a problem with a credit card on a Saturday when the banks are closed, for example) you won't receive the car and you won't get a refund at all.
I did contact their customer service on Whatsapp, which referred me to the contracts and in the end kindly told me to go to hxxx.
No empathy for customers. DO NOT USE

I would give zero stars if possible!!
No show on 12/3/23 @ 20:00 hrs at Dubai T3 airport from the UK arrived no sign with our surname… wandered around for over one hour then received a call at 21:22 hrs from driver where had he been??? Had to make our own way to our hotel paid on our expense.
Cartrawlers are blaming us for NO SHOW after 8 hours flight this assumption is ridiculous.
20th March return to Dubai T3 driver arrived late at hotel blamed me for incorrect information when booked. CARTRAWLER you provide a service your incompetence at not checking the flight time is inexcusable!!
They will not refund me as blaming me for everything.
AVOID AT ALL COST
COMPANY NOT ACCEPTING ANY RESPONSIBILITY AT ALL
Paid £71.00 sterling and received zero service.
Been liaising via email, chat, phone
Just not helpful at all keep telling me NO SHOW!!
Also raised with Emirates as Cartrawlers are one of their partners waiting to hear back.

CARTRAWLER AND ECOVIA CHEATERS CAR HIRE COMPANIES

booking number IT847784470, arrived on time, no pick up was done, we took taxi to reach the hire place, was waiting for the credit card holder to arrive, main driver had all necessary documents, the rental provider , after 2 hours waiting decided to refuse to give the car with explanation that time is over!!! We were urged to book and pay again!!! to other car hire company nearby and no money or car received with your voucher, which is already paid in advance!!!! Such cheating face to face never ever have seen in my life! We were threatened to get bitten and kicked off by the two guys in the office ( ecovia or whatever is there in the voucher) and when I tried calling YOUR company , the tel provided rang in the same office of the cheaters they had sent me to!!! no cct details , no office, no someone to file a complain, they just take your money they robe you and do not provide the services!!!!!! Please take care and never to book with these cheaters!!!! CARTRAWLER AND ECOVIA !!!

Thieves

Booked a car in Greece, paid for a one month rental in full with full insurance, when I arrived to pick up the car the refused to give it to me because I did not have a debit card, I offered 2 other bank cards and offered to leave a cash deposit. Not accepted and the refused to give me a refund. Disgusting company, very unprofessional, worst experience ever

I hire a car on Guadalajara thru this company and they sell me a insurance the car rental wont accept so.I request refund of that money by an email to these guys and the costumer services manager his name is Mohamed refuse to get me back my money he took a long time to responded back and he has a really bad attitude.

Very unetical business

Very unetical business. Businesses like this one should not exist. We booked at Easyjet.com and at the destination airport they did not deliver the car breaking the contract! They also refyse doing a refund. Awful experience!!

BEWARE…Easyjet car hire vouchers
I had a 300 euro car voucher from a cancelled trip at lockdown. Using this voucher is a very protracted process. If you don’t still have the booking number they will not help you. How difficult can we make it for customers to claim their money back Easyjet? Numerous calls to customer services, referrals, cut off calls, unable to find booking, no voucher, yes a voucher.
I used part of my voucher for a short Carhire in faro of 50 euros and when trying to use up the remaining 250 was told that the voucher is a one-time payment (ie I am unable to use up the remainder of my voucher for future car hire and have lost the majority of the money I am owed) This was never made clear when making the faro Carhire booking..
throughout this process the impression is one of a company not wanting to pay up on what they owe. I feel mislead, tricked and deceived and have lost all trust in Easyjet Carhire.
Daylight robbery
I will do my utmost to avoid booking any Carhire via this company in future

Do not rent with car trawler and europcar

Do not book through this company. We booked a car through car trawler and Europcar. When we booked online before our trip, it was written clearly in the contract that all taxes, fees and surcharges were included. Upon returning the car, we were also told there were no further charges. Subsequently, we were invoiced to our credit card without our authorization an additional 156 Euros for “environmental surcharge”. We contacted Car Trawler three times to rectify the situation and they dismissed our concern with no rationale. Do not book with this company.

Book your car elsewhere

I wanted to make a change to my reservation 26 hours before. I had to argue with customer service for more than an hour overall. They tried saying that only the private car service could make changes. The private car service said only cartrawler could make changes. The customer service representative tried to say that i was not eligible for a refund because it was within 24 hours. This was untrue, it was 26 hours before the ride.

A disgrace to the travel industry

I am amazed that this company are allowed to continue trading and would be delighted if they were closed down and this country and the car hire industry was rid if them forever. Shame also on their board of directors for allowing this awful business practice to continue.
The car we hired in Italy broke down on the first morning of our trip in a remote location and was towed away leaving us stranded in a remote location.
The hire company offered us a replacement but only if we returned to their offices some two hours away. This was impossible as there was no public transport or taxis and the breakdown compay refused to take us. The hire car company agreed to cancel the contract and said that they would have refunded the balance of the hire charge but as we had paid through Car Trawler we would have to get the money back from them. Car Trawler have consistently refused to refund any of our hire cost. Their emails are full of useless "customer care blandishments" but have no substance.
To all airlines, hotel groups and booking companies who bother to read this and other comments on Trustpilot - do the travel industry a favour and refuse to have any dealings with Car Trawler. Your own reputations will only suffer if you don't. In truth they do not even merit one star.

Total Scam

When I booked my rental car through Hotels.com, I was re-directed to a 3rd party site, Car Trawler. I booked the car in my husbands name and used my credit card to pay for the car (like I have done countless other times with several other car rental companies). When I arrived at the Las Vegas NU car rental desk, I stood in line for almost an hour. Then, they refused to release the car I had paid for because my husband had a debit card, not a credit card. They refused to accept a debit card for the security deposit. They also refused to help me rebook in my name (since I had a credit card) and I was treated very rudely and poorly since I booked with a third party company. They left me completely stranded on Thanksgiving day. I had a road trip planned, with hotels already booked and paid for and I desperately needed a car. After a couple emails with Car Trawler "customer support", they refused to refund any of my money. Credit cards and debit cards are basically used interchangeably. We have used a debit card to rent cars from at least 3 other companies this year.

Horrible Service!

Horrible Service! They do not make clear you have to catch up the car within five hours even when the flight ist delayed. Then they do not give you the car you have already payed. Their licence should be taken off.

Avoid at any cost.
Booked a car through EasyJet Car, because my flight was late and the Car Rental Desk was closed, they canceled my reservation for "No Show" and keep all prepaid money without offering any alternative or penalty for late Pick Up.
This despite I correctly communicated the flight number in the reservation.
Skip this company and book directly with the car rental company, you will be more protected in these situations.
Costumer service practically useless, they cannot move or rebook reservation and all they do is sending premade email telling how sorry they are.

Booked Cartrawler through the Easyjet…

Booked Cartrawler through the Easyjet app. Paid for car and upon collection was told that my license wasn't enough. They wanted the "counterpart" of the licence which is not required by law to be part of your driving licence. Neither did they say anything about this counterpart when I booked. So on that, they took my money and refused to give me the car as I stood at the counter. I do understand why Cartrawler would be sneaky like this but shame on Easyjet and Sixt car rentals for allowing this to continue.
