Absolute rubbish service
Absolute rubbish service. Booked accomodation which was very poor. Got no response from the host and the property had not been cleaned. Left an appropriate review but book a batch sites reviews default to the latest best reviews not the bad ones. Very mis-leading. Would not use bookabatch ever again!

I requested a reservation and was approved, only to be me met prompts like "Something went wrong on our end" without any resolution. I have a few weeks to get the situation sorted or it's money down the drain.

Terrible support and very frustrating to deal with. And before we were able to resolve the problem, I was disconnected. This happened multiple times! Very irritating to be getting nowhere with them.
Their Customer Service is in India!
Our recent experience with BookaBach's services was far from satisfactory. While they provide a platform to book accommodation, their customer service and support left much to be desired. When we encountered serious issues with a Bach in Palmerston North, we found it extremely difficult to get hold of anyone to discuss the problems.
There was no nearby property manager available to assess the situation, and the customer service team was based in India, despite the property being in New Zealand. This geographical disconnect made addressing our concerns even more challenging, in conjunction with this their complaints or help method involves creating emails to a help desk that is monitored inconsistently.
When I raised a complaint via their online chat, the representative I spoke to was clearly unfamiliar with English and lacked an understanding of the issues I was facing. They did open a 'case' for me, but within 12 hours, it was closed without explanation. I had to send a follow-up email to ask why the case was closed, as I had not yet submitted all the necessary documentation because I was still away. After this, they re-opened the case because I contacted them once more to ensure the case was kept open to allow me sufficient time to accumulate the issues and present them to their services department.
The most significant issue is the lack of contact options for assistance within New Zealand. There is no direct local support, which makes it very frustrating when trying to resolve problems. BookaBach needs to improve its customer service, provide local contacts for emergencies, and ensure cases are handled more professionally to offer a better experience for users.
Clunky
The app seems to lure you jnto loops ... I got emails notifications but nothing new appears ... clicking on links (eg property info sheet) just took me to an error page. Frustrating and clunky ... like they designed it for them and not customer or property owner

If I could give no stars I would. I have tried to cancel a reservation well within the free cancelation period . The owner has tried also to confirm the cancellation so I can get my refund back. 2 plus weeks and still waiting and every time I contact vrdo even thougt I booked on bookabach i have to start again with the issue .
They say its a technical issue .. really 2.5 weeks to fix ??Now on the phone again for 40minutes and counting Will never ever use them again . search the property you want and go direct ,its cheaper too, there was a hidden $625 service fee added as without explanation.

Our property shows up at the end of searches of the area. Like 130 out of 140. It not price oriented on price or closest to the region. We get competitors 35km away promoted before us. We have not had an enquiry in 4 months. I've asked why.. no response.

I booked and paid the accommodation in Rarotonga and just after confirmation, I received message from the host to cancel my booking as it was duplicate with another booking at the system. Refund was made but less 25$ with no reason. It is really unreasonably when I spent time to make the booking, suddenly receiving cancellation and loss money.
If every one just loss 25$, then imagine 100 bookings per day they can get 2500$, totally is a scammer.
The Worst!
We were already on the road when the host informed us our 3 day booking, starting tomorrow was cancelled due to the property being sold! We had booked many months ahead. As it was the school holidays finding somewhere in Waverly, South Taranaki was next to impossible. We called Book a Bach who agreed the host was in the wrong and after an hour on the phone, much waiting as the incident was being "escalated", unable to understand the customer service rep, who became increasingly rude. We were left with a promise that someone would get back to us tomorrow with some accommodation. As expected we never heard from anyone. I rang again the next day and was offered 1 night 9km from where we needed to be, and unable to find accommodation for the other 2 days I declined. He then offered compensation which as expected we never received.
The whole experience was extremely stressful and ruined our holiday. I will NEVER use BOOK A BACH again!

Joy and John are selling the lifestyle. They are kind friendly hosts and supplied us smiles, banter and laughter, eggs, milk, butter, fruit juice and Weetbix.
Joy helpfully told us all the wonderful restaurants, activities and sights to be enjoyed.
We had access to kayaks/canoes and snorkelling gear at all times.
The property is right on the lagoon and the view above and below from the studio was breathtaking. When not out and about we lazed on the deck, the deck chairs and the beach or immersed in the plunge pool. Otherwise we explored the neighbouring islands and marvelled at the tropical fish saw in the lagoon, think Finding Nemo meets Fish Tail.

I have used Bookabach 5 times over the last 7 years and I have never encountered an issue. I spend hours deciding on a bach, that has been the hardest part. I am not rich so like the fact that there are baches to suit all budgets.. I have found the website easy to use, and booking online has always gone smoothly with prompt email contact. Communication of codes or keys has always been sent on time. I can honestly say I have had some great times and awesome and affordable stays away thanks to bookabach.

If I could review any lower I would. Property owner cancelled on us. And bookabach is saying we haven't paid deposit even though we have a bank statement and confirmation email. Called them four time for them to say the same thing about escalating to investigate only to call again and then say it hasn't been escalated. We are now left a few weeks before our music festival with no accommodation and struggling to get our deposit back
Incompetence
I tried to book a property in Petone weeks ago. When trying to pay the system kept coming up 'error try later'. After 6 attempts I rang an 0800 number (not in New Zealand) and cancelled the booking. I kept on getting emails saying I hadn't paid when I HAD cancelled. Emailed tge owner and said I HAD CANCELLED. Today I get an email saying the owner had cancelled the booking. I found your system of operating incompetent and would NEVER use Bookabach again
I'd avoid Bookabach…
Keeping a long story short...2 houses in a row showed spa pools they did not have. Both owners were great abd both confused why their properties had even shown a spa. Bookabach were no help at all and indictaed if the owners refused full refunds, despite this not being my mistake or a change of mind, they wouldnt do anything further. The 2 owners helped me as best they could and after paying a total of almost $700 I "only" ended up $100 out of pocket. Wouldn't recommend.

They have similar websites like Expedia, last-minute. All these are brands are kids of bookabach. They just take the consumers money and runaway. I saw a stay with available in particular days and tried to book it. I didn’t get a booking id and the money got deducted. I have immediately spoke about the same issue to the customer service and she mentioned it will be reverted to my bank account in 3-5 days. When you ask them to write an email regarding the same issue. They just back off. Not a pleasant experience. I am gonna raise a fraud complaint if my money is not gonna come back in few days. Very bad experience using this website. DO NOT USE BOOKABACH, EXPEDIA, LAST-MINUTE for any hotel or stay booking. They are such a crap.

Booked, paid for and confirmed… then received a message advising there is a ‘glitch’ and money will be refunded ‘shortly’ tried to contact customer service to discuss and chat ended once all details provided.
Money came out immediately, unfortunately hasn’t gone back in ‘immediately’…. Whole thing is just a waste of time and looks like money also.

TAHUNA FAMILY ESCAPE in Paihia is such an awesome place to stay. So family orientated - had so much to keep the kids entertained and open spaces for the adults to relax. Even the cemetery next door gave us some laughs with the kids saying good morning & night to our neighbours LOL...highly recommend this place. Owners next door were very private that you wouldn't even think they were there. Perfect spot for our trip up to Cape Reinga. It was hard getting the kids back in the car to leave. Thank you so much for the experience.
They take your money and run
Won't refund us. Host awesome, but fees held by Bookabach/VRBO. We arrived and a dog barked at us for 15 mins. We left straight away. Not peaceful. So far impossible to get a refund. Messaging comes up with technical difficulties, try again in 2 hours, then another 2 and another. Did not meet customer expectations, so legally they have to refund. Look how much its costing us to battle this. Property was not what we expected either. A tiny room, not full apartment. Lovely hist though. They are equally affected by this and ripped off.
