Support service is excellent. On the phone almost immediately with great knowledge on how to fix your problem. Couldn’t be happier. Ten times better than Telstra.

Changes data rollover policy without notifying customers in advance

I could have easily been a long-term customer with Boost mobile, yet they screw me over with the data rollover for the year-long plan. I had 155 GBs worth of data from my previous plan that was left-over, and wanted to roll over to my newly refreshed 1 year plan.

There was no issue with getting this done the previous time I refreshed my plan with Boost mobile. Yet, now, when I have so much data left over, I renew the plan, and they're saying it's not part of their policy anymore???? So Boost is just going to ignore the fact that

1. They never told me about this change
2. They're not going to give me anything to make up for the 155GBs of data I've lost.

I've asked the customer service representative to find ways around this to at least partially cover what was lost, e.g. manually add the data, or manually upgrade my plan to something with more data. All excuses, and no action that amounts to anything meaningful at all to my plan's profile.

The first time Boost screwed around with me, making me wait about a full week to get my number ported over to their service, I was able accept against my better judgement. Now, they're screwing me over a second time majorly, I cannot tolerate this any longer. I might just stick it out for one more year as I've already paid. But, I will be porting my number to a different provider once this plan is up. Absolutely do not want to be clowned around by boost, randomly changing policies to screw over customers and saying "there's nothing I can do about it".

I had a very negative experience with Boost. Choose another carrier

I had a very negative experience with Boost Mobile. I would not recommend. They have very poor coverage, cellular data was slow, and they have deplorable customer service. I moved to Thailand and no longer needed my number. However, I was not able to cancel my account using the mobile app, and when my next month's charge went through on my credit card, Boost Mobile refused to reverse the charge. You will be better served getting another carrier and avoid Boost. They Boost their pockets at your expense.

A horrendous experience

I signed up with this provider at the start of the year and immediately ran into issues. I could only make calls to certain numbers — not all. After waiting a full week, they claimed the issue was resolved, but I still couldn’t call some numbers. I ended up just dealing with it because I needed a working phone.

Now in June, I’ve been waiting over 1.5 weeks for a SIM replacement. When it finally arrived, I tried to activate it and was told I’d receive a confirmation email within 15 minutes. Over an hour later — still nothing. I reached out via online chat, waited 20 minutes, and was then told activation could take up to 24 hours. Seriously?

This whole experience has been a nightmare. Every issue takes hours to troubleshoot, support is slow and unclear, and getting straight answers feels impossible. There’s no sense of urgency or accountability from this company.

Absolutely would not recommend. If you value your time, your sanity, or reliable service — look elsewhere.

UPDATE 26 June 2025

I received a message from Boost saying that they believed I had incorrectly reviewed the wrong company and that my feedback was for another business. I can confirm this is NOT the case, and this review is definitely based on my experience with Boost Mobile.

I should also note that I STILL have not received an "activation email"

Bad service

signed up for a Boost Mobile plan that promised unused data would roll over automatically to the next month. This was a key selling point for me. I set up auto-pay and expected everything to run smoothly—but it didn't.

I quickly found out that the rollover doesn't happen unless you chase them. Every month I’ve had to contact Boost Mobile to get my data added manually, and instead of rolling it over automatically like the plan claims, they give it as a “bonus” after I raise a complaint.

This is misleading, frustrating, and feels like a sneaky trick hoping customers won’t notice. If you advertise rollover data, it should be automatic—not conditional on complaints.

To make matters worse, the network quality is mediocre. I’ve experienced dropouts and poor reception in areas where other providers work perfectly.
If I could give them zero or negative stars, I would. I do not recommend Boost Mobile. There are far better and more transparent providers out there.

Will be lodging a complaint with the Ombudsman.

26/05/2025
Did as I was asked by Boost and went to a retailer, I was told they could not refund as I did not purchase from there, which is exactly as I expected them to say.
I called Boost helpline which ended up being Telstra helpline and a recorded voice told me there was a 1 hour wait time. I was actually on hold for 2hrs20mins (wish I could attach the photo as proof). I walked to a Telstra shop whilst on hold and showed them how long I have been on hold. Disgraceful. The guy in the Telstra shop told me to hang up, as they will tell me to go to a Telstra shop and they proceeded to reiterated the same as the retailer that they could not issue a refund as Boost is a separate entity to Telstra and I did not purchase at the Telstra shop. He then suggested that I make a COMPLAINT on the Boost website and if they don't get it settled and refunded, to contact the Ombudsman.
* I guess you have to decide, do you want the coverage with Telstra and the lack of customer service unless you go into a shop or use the app, or great customer service and not so great coverage with another provider.
** Will let you know how I go lodging a complaint.

If you want to be on the Telstra network but don't want to have the most expensive plans available do NOT use Boost and definitely do not purchase ONLINE. Instead just get a Telstra prepaid plan. Boost 1yr is $300 for 290GB ($25/mth), Telstra prepaid 1yr is $350 for 310GB ($29.17/mth).
Trying to get the SIM activated especially if you have/HAD a Telstra account was near impossible online, I was directed to go into the Telstra shop who simply looked in their system informed me they "couldn't see any problem why I couldn't activate and it should be good now". I go home, try to activate (again) and am instructed to please go to a Telstra shop (again).
Then when you want to get a refund, when you purchased in a "store", they will usually say that b/c "according to their system this is a digital product and is activated they cannot refund", you MUST insist that the website directed you back to them for a refund (which it does).
If you purchased online, good luck with a refund, the online help will just keep insisting they can activate it for you, that's your choice. When I insisted i do not want to activate and would like a refund they told me to go to the nearest store/retailer for a refund. So I may have lost $300.
My opinion is:
I have travelled to most of SE Asia (18 years overseas) and NEVER had this much difficulty activating a SIM!!
If it is so much of a headache to activate the service, can you imagine what the customer support or even the provider service will be like? Actually it's NIL according to my experience so far.
P.S. Whilst sitting in the Telstra store signing up for the prepaid 1yr SIM, another couple were complaining about how much trouble they were having with their Boost activation and the Telstra "support" guy kept confirming Boost is under the Telstra services however that there is nothing they can do to help them as technically it is a separate company to Telstra.

Cheap offers but nothing is working

I already used to be a costumer. Due to traveling my sim got deactivated. As i was happy with the service i bought a new sim card. After 7 days i still do not have a working sim card. At first they blamed it on the verification of my id. This worked out after a few more days. Now the sim should be activated, since 5 days. Still no possibility of calling or using the internet. I already have a phone number but nothing is working. Costumer service is no help at all. I believe they have a huge error and the system, which they can't figure out.

Boost cancelled my pre paid phone plan

Was a customer with a yearly plan for 7 years, 5 years Telstra, 2 years Boost... Even though the same company, my data would burn up at least twice as fast with Boost, but with Telstra I had 60 to 80 gig left each year... Boost Customer service refused to do anything except tell me that they saw no problem... After running out of data 131 days before my pre paid plan ended, I ported my number over to Optus, and Boost cancelled my phone account, and said that l had cancelled it..! I paid for a service that was for a full year and cancelled without my permission... I would not ever use Boost or Telstra again..! Very dishonest and ignored all my requests to be connected to use up the last 4 and a half months of credit..! 0/10

Stay away from Boost mobile you can do better.

Hi,
I recharged with a boost mobile almost a year ago. My plan is to expire in 2 weeks and when I just recharge today for another year with the same plan instead of adding another one year after current plan expires it took the date I recharge it.
I have never seen any prepaid company charging any customers before the current plan expires. I have been with multiple companies who offer long expiry plans and also facilitate multiple recharge to stack up to 24 months if they like to sign up. This is very first company in Australia I have noticed this ridiculous company policy who are punishing customers who are actively liked to be with the company for another year.

Now I have two recharge but one mobile number. Stay away from BOOST Mobile.

Worst provider

This is the worst connection in the world and the best customer support! They take money twice and don't want to return it! When you call customer support, each agent gives different information because they are very unprofessional and just want to quickly end the conversation! They first took $16 from me as they should have, and then they took another $26!!!!They promised to return it, but they never did!

Held 20-year old Number Hostage - no port out code given before suspending & asking for SS# & 2 months fees

After Virgin customers were suddenly Boost I continued to pay on time, 2 years, no issues. Until wanting to join a family plan on another network--getting a port-out code to keep my 20-year old number was impossible. After trying in-store visits to both new service & Boost and 45-minute calls, a 4-day wait to get the port-out code that never arrived. Day 4 I go in and they cut off my service so I couldn't get texts, asked me to pay 2 months up front to turn on text I needed to leave w no refund & then insisted I give them my Social in full so they could "verify" questions from a credit report? What? No thanks. I'll get a new number.
A-holes.

It’s a NO from me. Not worth the savings.

My friend recommended Boost to me but I am so rrgrettrd of using them. Customer service is like zero. Phone and data always dropped. After contacting live chat, my phone number has been non stop receiving unknown numbers calls from different countries. It is better to use the mainstream phone company rather than pay a bit less to use Boost. Sorry I will not continue to use it once my pre paid plan is finished. Not recommended!

No customer invoices

No customer invoices are available - not sent by email, not in the customer portal, not in their mobile app. Good luck collecting GST if you run a business. ATO should be investigating them. Joke of a company.

Worst customer service

They are without a doubt the worst company I have ever dealt with. I signed up for their service on Jan 8 and as of Feb 18 I still had no service. During this period of time, they sent me a total of 5 Sim cards and none of them worked. They kept saying that the next card would fix the issue. Well, it never did. During this time, I spent more than 8 hours on the phone with various customer service reps that I could barely understand. Needless to say, I was very frustrated. The only reason I gave them 1 star is that you can't give zero. My advice is to stay away from this bunch. I switched to T-Mobile today and my service is up and running.

The worst 5G "net" connection possible.

The worst "net" connection possible.
I will never use Boost ever again.
No connection at Grange or Nth Adelaide and this is there 5g...at least 3g worked.
My wife's Vodafone for $10 per month is so much better.
Telstra just bought Boost but don't expect any improvements because Boost was using the Telstra network all along!
