Promised <2-hour transfer, canceled after 16+ hours
I initiated a transfer from the US to the Philippines around 10:00 PM ET. The app advertised that it would take less than 2 hours.
I first tried Google Pay, but it didn’t work, so I switched to using my debit card directly and confirmed it was verified and showing in my account. The transfer canceled twice, and I was still forced to add Plaid for verification even though I was paying with the same bank/debit card.
At 10:59 PM ET, I received a call from support asking me to email the front of my ID. They stayed on the line, confirmed I was approved, and told me it should process within 30 minutes. I waited several hours and it still showed “processing.” When I chatted in the app, I was told it was with the “Verification Department.” They acknowledged the 2-hour commitment, but couldn’t give any updated ETA.
A little over 16 hours after I placed the request, I received an email/text saying the transfer was canceled because they couldn’t verify my account information—after I had already provided everything they asked for (debit card, Plaid connection to the same bank account, and ID). No one attempted to explain what specifically failed or how to fix it. When I called the number provided, I couldn’t reach a person—an automated message said I’d have to go to a “participating location” to do it in person, without even specifying which locations.
If verification is going to delay or block a transfer, that should be handled upfront before advertising a <2-hour transfer time. At minimum, customers need a clear reason for cancellation and a real path to resolve it.
