I'm sure that others have had positive experiences

I'm sure that others have had positive experiences with this, in fact I originally signed up as my friend recommended it based on her good experiences. Unfortunately my experience, and my fiancé's experience were awful. We signed up in January, using a free ticket code and we were told that we would receive tickets for January's event despite technically signing up lare. Then we got nothing, so we assumed that we would just get tickets for February, no big deal.

Then February came around, and they tried to charge us £10, but our bank blocked it as a dodgy charge, and we also still didn't get any tickets. Despite never recieving a single ticket. We intended to cancel at that point but other things happened and we forgot. So now we come to March and we have both received notifications about our bank blocking a charge and freezing our cards. We both immediately emailed and said that we haven't received any tickets before at all and that we want to cancel. They respond that it's all good, they've cancelled and then we also suddenly get tickets for the March event.

I also get told that I must've missed my emails from them as they're all marked as not read, which quite frankly is a total lie. I read every single email I receive because I hate having unread notifications on my phone. I also routinely check my spam/junk email so I have never received emails there. Then on top of this they have apparently cancelled my subscription now as of Monday, and then tried to charge me again this morning (Wednesday). I'm really not happy at all with this service.

Enjoyable, unique experiences.

I've been a Mystery Ticket Club subscriber for a while now after originally signing up through Buckt, and I’ve honestly loved the transition.

The range of activities so far has been brilliant from indoor football events to a comedy show coming up this weekend. Each month feels different and creates excitement and genuine 'mysteriousness' around the next event.

There's a real friendly and social atmosphere at these events. Even if you go with friends its easy to chat to new people and feel a part of the community.

The value for money is great only being £10 each month and I'd definitely recommend Mystery Ticket Club to anyone in Birmingham who is looking to try something new and meet great people along the way!

Great fun!

I’m a Birmingham subscriber who originally joined through Buckt, and I’ve honestly been really enjoying the transition over to Mystery Ticket Club.

The experiences in Birmingham have been such a great mix of things I probably wouldn’t have gone to on my own. We’ve done loads of different activities like darts, comedy shows, board game cafés and arcade bars, so it’s been a really fun way to try new places around the city.

One of the biggest differences I’ve noticed compared to Buckt is the sense of community. I usually go with my friends, but everyone there is so welcoming that you end up chatting to loads of people and making new friends as well. It feels really social and inviting.

I also love the passport system where you get a sticker for every event you attend, it’s such a small thing but it adds a really nice personal touch and makes the whole experience feel more special.

Booking is super easy too. On the first of the month you get the ticket drop email, then your activity is revealed and you just book in. The hosts always do a little intro at the start (sometimes Dan or another host) which brings everyone together and sets the tone for the night.

It’s also genuinely really good value, tickets are around £10 and most of the activities would cost more than that if you booked them individually.

Overall I’ve had a really great time so far with Mystery Ticket Club. It’s pushed me outside my comfort zone, helped me discover new places in Birmingham and meet some really lovely people along the way.

Like others

Like others, my experience of Buckt was great post-COVID. Clearly, after its switch over quality and support even for a single mystery ticket had dwindled. I’ve contacted the support email multiple time requesting cancellation and confirmation of this over months with no response - they have charged me each month despite my emails. Don’t bother considering this company.

Customer service is shocking

Customer service is shocking. Activities in the new 'Mystery ticket club' are not worth it at all. Current ticket is point blank in Manchester for £20 - you can do that activity for £20 anyway (and if you book yourself actually get to choose the time/date you want to go) whereas with their 'club' you're given one afternoon - if you're not free then you just waste £20.
Buckt used to be good, this new idea is awful and really bad value for money.
Don't bother!

I’m trying to cancel my subscription

I’m trying to cancel my subscription. Sent 2 emails; no response. I received at Wowcher for Christmas, it then took me ages to figure out how to activate my voucher, wasn’t clear at all. Emailed and they said there was an issue so activated it for me. I put my bank details in and picked my subscription, which once again due to life I’ve never used. They’ve since been taking £40 a month so they’ve had £200 of my money. Ive sent 2 emails to cancel my subscription and refund me as I’ve never used my subscription against anything. Everything is just difficult. My emails have been ignored!

Money grabbing scam.

I bought my friend a month of tickets for two as a birthday gift and she claimed it this month.

After handing over money at no stage has this process been simple.

First I was emailed a confusing mess that my friend needed to navigate to register, which lead to a rather bashful apology from me as I promised to help her register.

When the time came it took us over an hour of back and forth to work out what exactly she needed to do to get the gift given.

Once she had registered ( and forced to subscribe for future months giving her card details) she was presented with 5 'tickets' she was told that she could not cancel her subscription until she had booked one ticket.

This is where things got frustrating.

You don't actually get tickets.

You have to email to request tickets for each of the 'experiences' and give details on the date you want, time etc, the thing is they don't reply.

It took two weeks for her first email to be responded to, after I also emailed asking what was going on. During this time she had decided to cancel her card to avoid charges and we realised that this was not just a small business cramming a square system into a round website but a SCAM!

She called the venue for the ticket and they were unaware of buckt bookings let alone hers before finally hearing back from BUCKT telling her she will receive confirmation a few days before the experience will be confirmed.

Except.. after following up again she was told that her booking was infact not confirmed and that there were no bookings for this experience available.

She has four other 'up and coming' experiences that god knows if she will receive but this first one was obviously the most appealing, she tried to book It the same day she was able, nearly a month later after taking time off of work and managing the uncertainties of this company.

Thier communication, when it does happen is condescending and unapologetic, the site awful to navigate once you have subscribed and the ticket process is clunky. All of these would have been forgiven as a small start up with minimal tech or comms ability if come the end of it you actually got what you had promised. What you had paid for.

This is a SCAM.

I thought I'd be getting my friend a gift where she'd be able to explore Bristol, instead she got one that made her explore her patience.

AVOID at all costs.

Spend your money on a bunch of random tickets to local gigs, stand up and cafes instead.

Reply from Buckt

Hi Ripley,

It's Dan here - CEO of Buckt.

I'm really sorry that you've had a negative experience with the company. This is obviously extremely disappointing and I do understand your frustration.

I have just tried to call but you weren't willing to discuss this on the phone unfortunately, so I just wanted to outline a few key points here.

I can assure you that Buckt isn't a scam. We have served tens of thousands of customers across the country and have worked with thousands of different business partners. I appreciate that you have had a negative experience in this instance, but having a negative experience of a product does not automatically make it a scam.

I've just addressed a few key points below:

- The gift process is outlined before any purchase is made on the gift page (https://buckt.uk/gift/) and in our FAQs (https://bucktuk.zohodesk.com/portal/en/home), and in the information that is provided to the gift recipient once the purchase is made. We would encourage anyone purchasing a gift to read this information before deciding whether it is for them.

- The requirement to sign up for the service when using a gift is industry standard and is seen in many other services, such as Netflix and Spotify.

- Subscribers can cancel at any time. As long as they cancel before their next charge date, no money will leave their bank account.

- An automatic message is sent to all customers once they submit a booking request saying that it is being processed, and they will be contacted once it is sorted. We have clarified this in recent months, however, to emphasise that they won't get a direct response from us until their tickets are ready.

- We work with countless partners and many partnerships are arranged at head office or with other companies that own those subsidiaries. Often, the person on the front desk may not be familiar with the name 'Buckt'.

Once again, I am really sorry for your negative experience. If you do wish to discuss this, you have my personal contact details.

Dan, Buckt

Really solid business, always get my moneys worth, the app is great and makes booking easy activity selection is eclectic but that’s the whole point. Where else can you do magic the gathering, and go paddleboarding and have a go at zorbing. I look forward to a new month for a new 5 activities. Love em keep up the good work

From the perspective of someone who has…

From the perspective of someone who has been partnering with the book by providing Spanish Taster Lessons, it has been a pleasure working with them and their wonderful subscribers, who have consistently shared positive feedback about their experiences.

I would give this company 0 stars if I…

I would give this company 0 stars if I could. The idea behind it is good but the way they go about fulfilling it is terribly executed - from the unintuitive, convoluted app, to the shady business processes. I had initially signed up for a trial back in 2023, but found that the activities offered were not really worth it and so decided not to continue with the subscription and paused it as cancelling was this whole other hassle. Then, in September of this year, I get charged £40 - no prior warning, no where on the app to see when the subscription would renew - nothing, I immediately email them and they tell me the cannot give out refunds and my subscription was now cancelled, but guess what, they ended up taking my money but provided no tickets for the activities. The business as a whole seems very shady, with a lot of things done so in bad faith. Steer clear if possible.

Tried it for 3 months , the company is very poor.

Most the events get cancelled or you get a very limited time frame to book the event.

Shocking shocking shocking…

Shocking shocking shocking…. If I could rate less than 1 star I would! They don’t update their app with your activities so you loose about a week because of that, they don’t communicate at all with their customers… probably never heard of consumer duty before because they definately don’t work to these standards.

Avoid!!!

The experiences that were sent were no where near as good as the ones they use on their advertising. We were sent activities that were free or had minima cost to take part in independently.

My son was very poorly and taken into hospital so I asked if the activities could be deferred but was told not. When I attempted to cancel subscription in the app, it didn’t work so I was charged again. When I have contacted customer service about this (can frustratingly only be done on email), they have proved to be unhelpful.

Avoid!

We have recommended this to literally every person we know and this that have tried it have been as happy as us with it!! When we have need help from Buckt team they have quick at sorting us out and always very nicely.

Great idea - shame you can't book to do the activities

Great idea, enjoyed a few activities that we wouldn't normally have chosen to do

However Worcester is now not an area covered so our last lot of tickets that were booked we turned up and the venue knew nothing about the tour. Thankfully the museum was kind enough to let us in free of charge.
Or wrong email addresses were given so you couldn't book up. And on contacting the venue themselves they knew nothing about Buckt. So the last month was a complete waste of £40!!

Great idea just needs a little tweaking. A better app coming apparently.

Great idea just needs a bit of tweaking. The terms and rules are a little hard to understand but the customer service is very good and answers all questions promptly. Basically You have to make the bookings for each activity in the month that you receive them for a date within in three months, because they then disappear off the app at the end of each month before the next set arrive. Because it can be very difficult some times to book in and use them every month You have an option to pause your subscription to give you time to do the ones you’ve received and booked. The CEO Dan even rang me personally to help sort out any issues i was having.

Good idea bad execution

Good idea. Poor execution. I like the idea of new activities for each month but usually only 2-3 are decent when the others are poor e.g. a self guided tour or a competition for subscribers. However when booking activities there are heavy restrictions and issues with booking with vendors. Nothing can be booked on the app and you have to complete multiple processes with both Buckt and the vendor to book the activities. I been chasing a booking for about a month now as there was an error on the vendors system but Buckt didn’t think to tell us this and have been very unproductive in solving this, and I have had to chase the teams multiple times. There is no number to ring and sort this out promptly. Good idea. But poor service and execution that it’s not even worth my time so therefore cancelled after 2 months.
