My roadside assistance was charged to an expired Credit Card. I didn't update the card because I didn't want to continue with the service. They refuse a refund because its outside a 21 day period.They wont recognize that the charge was incorrect.

The process was very easy from my initial contact. The service provided by Customer Service was exceptional. Anything I was unsure of was fully clarified and the price of the policy was affordable in comparison to my previous insurer.

My experience with Budget Direct has been extremely disappointing.
After my vehicle was repaired through their authorised and questionable repairer, I collected it only to discover the wheel alignment was clearly incorrect, creating an immediate safety concern. An independent technician later confirmed the issue, leaving me out of pocket for additional repairs that should never have been necessary.
I also requested reimbursement for the Didi fare I had to pay to collect my vehicle from the repairer. Despite emailing Budget Direct on 30 May 2026 and providing supporting receipts, my request has been ignored and I have received no meaningful response.
The lack of communication, poor customer service and failure to address legitimate reimbursement requests have been frustrating. After everything I experienced following my accident, I expected far better support from my insurer.
Based on my experience, I cannot recommend Budget Direct.

Loyal, stupid Budget Direct customer for years. Recently quoted by AAMI for car insurance to find out BD are charging me DOUBLE. When queried with BD their online person said the premiums were correct. No infringements, no claims, no commuting, not expensive cars. Bunch of scammers.

Hi I just wanted to say thankyou to the budget direct team. I was traveling from Wollongong to Sydney for a course when suddenly my car clunked out and wouldn’t move on a busy Sydney street. I was so stressed and overwhelmed the way the car clunked out and wouldn’t move I honestly thought the car was done for. The team so was patient with me and guided me through I was thinking the absolute worst. Turns out it was a cv joint & engine mount which was under warranty. So I got a great out come in an annoying situation. The tow truck driver even picked up the keys from my course. Such a good experience thanks budget direct team.

"Worst service ever. Accident on May 16, processed on July 3, and payout took another 10 days. Instead of pouring money into flashy TV ads, use that budget to manage your staff and speed up your processing time. Unacceptable."
Absolute nightmare
Absolute nightmare. I survived a horrific accident where my premium Audi Q5 was completely written off. On top of that, it was a NOT-AT-FAULT accident. According to the policy, I am fully entitled to a rental car until this issue is resolved. Yet, Budget Direct pretends to be completely ignorant about this clause while bringing up other irrelevant policies to talk absolute garbage. Instead of honoring their own contract, they have been harassing me, taking turns calling to insist that an Audi Q5 is in the same class as an MG3. They are trying every cheap, disgusting tactic to avoid paying a proper settlement and scam me out of my rights. Avoid this incompetent company at all costs unless you want a mental breakdown after a major crash
