Doubled the price of cover so reduced…

Doubled the price of cover so reduced all my benefits.

To make a claim you have to input your personal details every time, it’s like they want friction when making a claim so maybe you don’t bother. My wife has Simplyhealth, 3 clicks and the claim is submitted, OCR scans your invoice and collates all the key information for you. Bupa are stuck in the year 2000 still, one step further than having to submit a paper form and post it in.

I have to covers with Bupa

I have two covers with Bupa, a medical one and dental. My main experience is with dental, it's so easy to claim! I also recieve the payment within a couple of days.

Good and bad

Bupa health care is a plus to whoever has it. The app is fairly easy to work with to book your initial appointment/consultation. Long story short I have a bad knee and this was confirmed after an MRI scan. After discussing my options with the doctor we have agreed as a follow up treatment to undertake physio with a senior physiotherapist. Unfortunately after contacting this physiotherapist I was made aware that it is preferred a private treatment for which there is plenty availability (even on the same day) rather then insured treatment (for which there is no availability). Now this is because BUPA at this level, is asking for a lot of paperwork to be filled out taking more time ,process being lengthy till payment is received. So at this point what choices are you left with ? Maybe look for a different senior physiotherapist whos got time and will to treat you with the BUPA cover(be prepared to travel some good miles) or just pay and get treated straight away.

The lady I spoke to over the telephone…

The lady I spoke to over the telephone at Bupa was very kind and efficient and listened very attentively whilst I explained my symptoms. She very kindly sent me details of three physiotherapists who practised in my area in order for me to undergo treatment.

I felt very assured and was extremently grateful for her help. Thank you so much Bupa.

Access GP on same day

I’ve used BUPA 3 times now and have always managed to get a GP appointment on the same day. This obviously helps to reduce anxiety on having to wait weeks when trying to get a GP on the NHS

I have found Bupa Dental to be…

I have found Bupa Dental to be excellent and it has made going to the dentist so much easier. From checking your cover online, to the straightforward process after your appointment, everything has been simple and efficient. If you visit a Bupa dentist, payment is handled directly, and if you use a NHS or private dentist, claiming back costs is quick and easy. I can highly recommend them.

Service is great, admin around it is a nightmare

The actual healthcare service is generally very good because it feels fairly on-demand. However, the cover, pricing, and charging process has been a total nightmare to deal with.

Whenever you contact support, you end up being passed between multiple teams just to get a simple answer. If the lines are busy, you leave your number for a callback, but they often don’t leave any return contact details, which makes things even more frustrating.

Overall, I’ve found the process very unclear, and the app doesn’t feel centralised at all. You almost always end up having to call someone, which isn’t ideal when you just want to sort something quickly.

Another frustrating point is that support agents regularly reference details you can’t easily check because you can’t leave the chat window without disrupting the conversation. That design choice seems really poorly thought through.
