I was hit by a red light runner who did not have insurance. California causality was responsive. All the employees were kind, helpful and concerned. I was given a rental and a fair price for my totalled car.
I have used this company for years. We have contacted their services reps and they have always been helpful. When I bought a new car, they talked me through all the options. Very helpful.
I find the company prompt and helpful. I have been with CalCas for many years a nd had my share of claims with property and car problems.
Communication and assistance were beyond reproach
We never had an issue with claims or service. The Staff is right on top of every issue. Thanks!
Always friendly and helpful personal on the phone
California Casualty: always professional, always competent, always courteous.
I love this company, they are quick to respond to meet all your needs.
We are teachers and have been with them for quite a while, I want to say about 8 years. They have had great rates in the past but recently, they have raised them so much. Not just the home but the auto. My husband is retired and they have him rated at 10,000 miles on 2 different cars. He has 2 cars that he uses to do things around town and sub once in awhile. There's no way he's putting that mileage on the cars but they won't let you self report the mileage anymore, even if you take a photo or video. They want 2 receipts from 6 months apart showing oil changes and mileage. My husband does all of the oil changes. They rate me on 150 miles a day! That's almost double what I drive in a day. They are a complete joke so I am taking our business elsewhere and as a union rep, I'm not going to endorse them anymore. The last rep I talked to was so rude when I told him the rates were too high, he said, yeah, go look somewhere else, it will be high there too. Thanks for nothing, California Casualty.

We are retired teachers with California Casualty for at least 15 years. They have very competitive rates and are so helpful when troubles arise! Great customer service!
Went with Calcas over geico to save some money. Worst decision ever. Horrible claims experience. Constantly having to leave a voicemail and was 1-2 days for response. When I had Geico EVERYTHING was handled by them no questions asked I didn’t have to chase anyone down. With Calcas I’m doing ALL the leg work chasing reports, finding shops, shelling out money for rentals because nobody responds in a timely manor. Avoid this company

I was shopping for new homeowner’s insurance, and decided to try California Casualty, since both my wife and I are teachers. The process started pleasantly enough, with a polite representative and a decent quote. When it came time for inspection, however, the company kept finding reasons to deny coverage. After spending two weeks and $500 on repairs, they informed me at 5:00 PM on a Friday, the day my existing insurance expired, that my coverage would be denied due to fears of black mold in a bathroom. This was despite never seeing the bathroom in person (only via photographs) and my providing them with documents from a professional test in the bathroom from less than 12 months ago showing, I kid you not, “zero mold.”
If you’re considering California Casualty, I would definitely recommend not expecting them to act in good faith, and definitely make sure you’ll pass inspection before spending any additional time or money.

5/21/24. Update. I now have my car back and believe that my claim is finally closed. Within an hour following my original post both my shop and I received a copy of the repair estimate and I received calls from a few CalCas reps expressing concern. (Thank you particularly Don Willingham.) Work proceeded with only one minor hiccup regarding my deductible. Ultimately my claim rep was responsive to all my concerns, I received prompt reimbursement for all out-of-pocket expenses and this matter was settled to my satisfaction. Change that review to 5 stars.
Claim filed 3/5/24. Repeated attempts to contact rep by repair shop to obtain estimate so work could commence unsuccessful. No voice mails or messages responded to. Finally had contact with rep on 3/19/24 approximately 11:45 CST - answered with promise to send copy of estimate to me and shop within a short time. As of 7:30 pm, still no copy of estimate received by me or shop. Needless to say, further calls have gone straight to voicemail. Repair shop has had my car for 2 weeks now and has been unable to begin repairs because of the lack of response by CalCas. As of 3/20, still no estimate and no contact from rep. Needless to say I don't think I'll be recommending this company.
This company treated my husband and I terribly, and caused so much more heartache than was necessary, especially given a very difficult situation. I would give zero stars if I could - and I am not that kind of person. 😟
We had a rain storm- and drains didn't work correctly- we had drain coverage- so it should have been covered- I called 3 separate times to ask- and we were assured we were fully covered (I know water gets tricky.) we were told to call disaster clean up- so we did- because we were told a company to call ( we can't afford this by ourselves and would have handled it ourselves if we had not been told to contact the clean up company- and promised it was covered) then the clean up company came- but couldn't get confirmation from our agent after a day- so they stopped cleaning - meanwhile we don't know what is going on (and would handle it if someone would have just told us) meanwhile every second water was in our house was increasing the risk of mold (which we did have coverage for) it took us close to two weeks to finally hear back from our agent 😡 who then denied everything including our window that broke during the storm. He did eventually break down and say he would cover mitigation- because that was promised to us repeatedly initially - but then it was a 1,300 bill from the company they told us to call (we also paid to rent dehumidifiers for a couple hundred outside of that cost- which again they denied) the $1,300 did not cover all of the mitigation that we did- yet they only cut a check for $300 because of the 1,000 deductible (despite the fact mitigation was promised to us and 1300 did not cover all of mitigation- or even close.) which again, fine but it is not OK to promise one thing over the phone, become completely unavailable in the middle of a disaster, and then deny it.
This company costs twice as much as other companies- which I knew and thought was fine, because I thought their customer service was better- I was quite mistaken- this is by far the worst treatment I have ever had from an insurance company (and I had been with them for close to 10 years) and for one who supposedly supports teachers, this all happened to me the week school started. I am beyond disgusted and will be sure to discourage my co-workers from ever using this company 😩.
