Replacement bay window in an old farmhouse. Communication was good. Measurements spot on, especially as the walls they were inserting the window into were - not plumb straight. Staff and fit... See more

The new external door
The new external door is well fitted. Communications were poor, my phone calls were not returned and I had to go to the office in Holsworthy to get a date for the fitting.
Mixed performance - but overall a success
We are just at the end of a 4-bed house refurb that used Camel Glass (a suggestion from our main contractor). The Barnstaple branch. We had a mix of thin double-glazed units to inset into Crittall frames, new aluminium heritage windows on an extension, secondary glazing over some non-opening Crittall frames and one UPVC in the garage. There were problems with all of them. They didn't take instructions as to which were to be double, and which secondary glazed, they didn't share astragal bar patterns (which were nothing like the Crittall frames when they arrived - looked awful) they were very slow attending site and took ages to get it all done (with more mistakes, using double-glazed units for a window to be secondary glazed). They even supplied 2 different textures of obscured glass to install in the same bathroom. To be fair to them, almost all of the mistakes have eventually been rectified (apart from not allowing the return of aluminium strip that was too wide to use, and the obscured glass mistake, I lost the will to argue), and we have not been charged for mistakes on their part. But it has taken ages and it was all really avoidable. We will not be using them again.

Had a composite door and a upvc at the same time. The experience with Camel has been excellent all the way through. The surveyors were and both of the installers Leigh and Christian were all very personable and polite. Would recommend .

Conservatory Roof
A new glass conservatory roof was fitted this week. A big thank you to Stuart in the Sales Team, Chris, Dan and Vince for their exceptional workmanship, professionalism, attention to detail and cheerfulness in freezing temperatures.
I'm delighted with the result and would not hesitate to recommend Camel Glass.
Thank You all

Do what they say they will and mean their guarantees
I had bifolds, a splash back and shower doors fitted by Camel. In my experience they have been great. Why? well building stuff can go wonky but Camel always correct any issues without argument; you dont have stress for weeks or call endlessly. They are organised; book appointments they keep; do what they say they will do and guarantee the work and correct if it is not right. The company has ethics in my view. If they make a mistake, it is corrected. Very easy to deal with; Geoff is a superstar. Really great customer service; relaxing, no hassle. Such a joy compared to a whole load of hassle dealing with various others builders.

Very dishonest
Very dishonest, I ordered bifold doors from Redruth branch, they supplied broken triple glazed unit and hid it under tape, they refused to replace unit saying I can take it to small claims court if I want but they relied on me not having the time to do so. The laminated glass they specified was so badly cut that the chips on the edges of the other units have since spread across the whole units so all need replacing which is 80% of the cost of the doors.

Design and build of a balustrade.
Good afternoon
Your colleagues Andrew and John have just completed fitting the glass to a wooden balustrade for us. The work was carried out in a professional, competent friendly manner. We're pleased and it looks great! D and J Hooper

The company based in Holsworthy
The company based in Holsworthy, took over two weeks to come back with a quote after saying they would be in touch within a week to 10 days. I had to chase them up. The quote we were given was outrageous for a 2/3 bed house, coming in at £53,000! Yes you heard that right. Speaking with friends who live up in Surrey we were assured that they’d paid no where near such an exorbitant price. We were left with no other view than the company are just plain greedy. So I certainly wouldn’t recommend them unless you’re a millionaire

An Expensive mistake
I ordered two DG windows through my builder. The builder in turn ordered them through a merchant Tamar Trading in Cornwall, who in turn appears to have ordered them through Camel Glass in Cornwall, who in turn will not divulge who they say made them.
On 27th August 2020 I ordered two windows. When the windows arrived, after a few months, they did not open at all as they were fixed panes with silver spacers and not sliding sash with white spacers as ordered. When again they arrived back weeks later they had black rubber and space bars, whereas all white was ordered. Finishing off the rooms affected in the property has become impossible as trades had to migrate to other projects. Getting the trades to return to finish off now is impossible as we are still unable to work round correctly ordered and reinstalled windows. We have now had four promised dates to rectify which have now lapsed. Week commencing 5 April being the latest missed delivery date. We are now 8 months on and still waiting.
The builder and the merchant both repeat that there is little they can do and that the control is out of their hands, leaving me no alternative than to try to resolve this myself.
Barnstaple camel glass
Telephoned Barnstaple office to arrange to get an estimate to replace some windows on my conservatory, the gentleman told me someone would contact me to arrange a viewing over a week now & no one has contacted me not good seeing as everyone is trying to build up their business after lockdown I won't chase people if they don't want my custom I've found someone else to do the work
