We arrived at 8.45pm after getting stuck in traffic and stuck at work. Weren’t allowed in site despite gate being open until 11

4 hour journey to camp on the road outside - No alternative offered - customer service was terrible.

After ringing customer services we
Weren’t offered a refund and no way of
Getting money back - A total rip off even though our confirmation email said if arriving after 8 please get in touch which we did.

The rules and terms and conditions are thrown in your face - Do not join this club
Or expect any level of service

Ironically the sign says ‘The friendly club’

It’s anything but friendly or user friendly

DON'T JOIN…

After been offered a pitch next to The Bridge Pub beer garden at Chertsey yesterday, I booked 2 nights at their Walton on Thames site for tonight and Sunday night.
I've stayed at the site previously, I knew it didn't have a toilet block, but I always carry a bucket for such occasions.
I'm also old enough to have lived in a house without an inside toilet.
So I arrived at the site and needed to have the toilet inspected
NOT ACCEPTABLE. That was at 7 pm.
I'm now on my way back home, 230miles ahead of me.
The CCC now owes me at least £23 which hopefully will be repaid. WATCH THIS SPACE.
I'm also cancelling my booking at their LEEK SITE for Monday night.
At the age of 72 I didn't expect such a journey tonight.
If I could give this FRIENDLY CLUB a MINUS 10 that wouldn't do justice to how I'm feeling right now.
IT GOES WITHOUT SAYING, MY MEMBERSHIP IS BEING CANCELLED AT 8am WHEN THEIR OFFICE OPENS TUESDAY.
ANYBODY THINKING OF JOINING, STAY WELL CLEAR.

Nottingham camping and caravan club.

Nottingham camping and caravan club.

Been a paid member of camping and caravan club for over 5 years, booked in this weekend to be told to cancel as they refuse to open the barriers before 7am, even though they know a number of us are taking part in the outlaw triathlon.

Extremely disappointed by the exclusion of a group of athletes.

Don’t join the club, they are becoming more and more unfriendly to what used to be a welcoming environment.

The club website automatically inserts…

The club website automatically inserts 1 adult to your booking. If you are two 60+ members then you have an extra adult added to your booking. The only way to contact the club, to amend your booking, is via telephone (no email or chat options). The booking line is always a long wait queue 30 minutes etc. or does not accept your call at all. This is disgraceful. No apology or explanation on their website.

cannock chase site, staffordshire, rugeley ws15 1qw

Great location - surrounded by beautiful trees, walks and bike trails. The bathroom facilities were impeccably clean every time they were used by us. Organised, friendly and always happy to help or answer questions. We would definitely recommend this site. Seemed family friendly; the majority of users at the site were families. We were a couple and in the minority - but not a problem. No complaints .... if we had to name something, it would be to have a colour print out of the bike trails to distinguish between the challenges.

They are a holiday business but close…

They are a holiday business but close for holidays???
It's hard to believe the sheer incompetence of a holiday company that doesn't let you get in touch in an emergency where you can't travel and want to cancel or amend your booking.
But that's the Camping and Caravanning Club for you. Here I am, on a Sunday, with a damaged trailer wheel that can't be fixed till garages resume after bank holiday tomorrow, when I'm due to arrive at Glencoe Campsite. Can I get in touch with anyone? Nope. They make it impossible. Campsite doesn't answer. C&CC emergency line states they are closed for the weekend and the bank holiday!!
It's utterly disgraceful.

Impossible to contact

Impossible to contact. I have twice telephoned only to be told there is a lengthy queue of other callers also waiting. Furthermore their email addresses are no longer working . This most certainly is an unhelpful attitude and completely at odds with their claim to be the 'friendly'club. I shall not renew my membership.

Camped at Clent Hills caravan and…

Camped at Clent Hills caravan and camping site for 2 nights on 24/4/26 our very first time with our crazy bullmastiffs that are scared and very protective they bark at everyone and every other animal be it a dog, cat, pigeon or squirrel, dont like us talking to others (jealous buggers :-) , so we wanted to see how good they'd behave.. the toilets and shower block were immaculate not 1 cob webb or spider in sight, showers were lovely both of us just wanted to be in there longer. Staff were lovely explained everything politely and reason why when they needed us to move the tent further across from our neighbours, popped by the next morning to wish us a good stay, and when we left they gave us tips on what would be best for us on our next visit and gave us a lovely send off.

A very customer unfriendly club

A very customer unfriendly club. Something went wrong with the membership fee, my bank made a mistake and cancelled the payment, not aware of this i was contacted by the club, they told me the payment went wrong, i said " no problem " give me the bank details and i will pay the oustanding fee.
No way said the club, we are going to cancel your current membership and you will have to sign up for a new membership, of course the price went up..the dude on the phone was not in anyway helpfull.
Stay away from this club, there are better options now that i looked around.
The 1.9 score should say enough.
They contacted me regarding my experiance, they actually do have a Karen answering your questions, man oh man....what a stiff organisation that is, not a single sign of customer care, who afe those people, i say again......stay away, there are better options......

I have been a member for some time now

I have been a member for some time now, always valued my membership and had some brilliant camping holidays, the last being in October last year.

However, I look at the cost of pitching a tent today and am shocked by the cost.
During the colder months, we have been using Haven Caravans. For 4 nights in a really smart 4 to 6 Berth Caravan, including all electricity and gas, we pay just £49.

Those same 4 nights at Oban C&C site would cost the two of us £178 !!!!!!

Now add on to that, the present cost of fuel, the equipment packed into the vehicle, etc etc. and finally, the horrendous cost to sleep on a patch of grass in my own tent, it's a no brainer.

I can turn up at almost any of Havens holiday sites with a suitcase and sleep in relative luxury, warm and dry for the total sum of £49......

Yes, I still love camping, I have fortunes laid out in camping equipment and tents, but the camping sites are pricing themselves out of the market......

£175 to pitch my own tent on a patch of grass for 4 nights. Or, £49 to turn up to any Haven site and sleep in one of their Bronze Caravans.

Do the maths Campsites !!!!!

Diabolical customer care. They need to visit “Charm School “

I recently stayed at the Canterbury Camping and Caravanning Club Site, part of the Camping and Caravanning Club.

The site itself was clean and pleasant, but the customer service was extremely disappointing. I booked two nights at £52 per night but had to leave after one as my sister was unwell.

I contacted them politely and asked if they would consider a credit for the unused night, rather than a refund, but this was refused outright with no flexibility or understanding.

A real shame, as the site was nice, but the lack of goodwill has completely put me off using them again. I wouldn’t return or recommend.

Camping & Caravanning Club - rules above customer service

We recently rejoined the Camping & Caravanning Club after several years’ break and less than a month in, we’re so unimpressed by their customer care (or lack of) that we’ve opted to cancel our membership. Very rule-orientated; adhering to their rules seems to take priority over customer service. Very unhelpful, something we’ve never experienced from other sites or club during 9 years of motorhoming. Quite shocked at the lack of empathy…

Horrendous - avoid

Booked 1 night for a tent with a month’s notice. Realised almost instantly that I had made a mistake with our route and needed an alternative location - after 30 mins wait on phone got through to customer service who told me they were keeping my deposit (even though it was a month away and I had called immediately and a tiny booking). Unjustifiably harsh, unhelpful and downright vindictive. Will never use again.

Ridiculous wait on phone.

Rang today to cancel my membership as caravan sold. 13 minutes on hold then abruptly told call was being transferred to another department. Number 8 in queue with roughly 7 minutes to answer each call. . Needless to say I hung up.

I was literally about to book a pitch

I was literally about to book a pitch, but decided to quickly double-check the dates before confirming. I went back to checkout within seconds… and the price had increased by £70.
Nothing changed on my end – same dates, same site – just a sudden price hike in under 10 seconds.
That kind of pricing behaviour feels very misleading and leaves a bad impression. Lost my trust straight away, so I didn’t go ahead with the booking.
No thanks.

Closure of the only Northern Ireland site but no refund offered

I recently cancelled my membership of The Camping and Caravanning Club after the closure of the Delamont Club Site, which was the only Club-operated site in Northern Ireland.

As someone without personal transport, the site was the only one realistically accessible to me. After its closure, I contacted the Club to ask whether a discretionary refund of my £53 membership fee could be considered.

The Club responded that because the request fell outside their 14-day cooling-off period they were unable to offer a refund, even though the only local site had closed.

The staff were polite in their replies and confirmed my membership has been set to non-renew, but the policy felt inflexible given the circumstances.

Potential members in Northern Ireland may want to consider the limited local access before joining.

Shocking behaviour from C and C club

My parents own a lodge at Theobalds campsite owned by The Camping and Caravanning Club. They have had the lodge for over ten years. Two days ago they received an email stating that the campsite was being sold, with completion tomorrow (Friday).
Absolutely disgusted with The Camping and Caravanning site.
I went there today and even the wardens didn't know what was going on, they had been told at the same time as the lodge owners.
We have to wait until tomorrow to find out who had bought the land. If it's a housing development site, my parents holiday home becomes worthless.
Disgusting that something so clearly been in the making for months has only been told to us the week the land is being sold.
Shame on you Camping and Caravanning Club.

Stayed on a number of CCC campsites…

Stayed on a number of CCC campsites during the year. Have noticed substantial pitch prices rises particularly after covid. The 5pitch sites offer better value for money in fantastic locations ,however I do have a soft spot for Delamere lovely site nice staff.
We are lucky as we get the over 60 discount which the other club didn't give.
