Very disappointing experience with CarJet and OK Mobility at Zagreb Airport. We booked specifically using the “no credit card required” filter, prepaid €152 with full insurance, and confirmed by phone beforehand that a debit card would be accepted. Upon arrival, the representative refused to honour the agreed booking conditions, demanded a credit card, attempted to add unexpected extra charges, and behaved aggressively throughout the interaction. We were also told only a much smaller vehicle than the one reserved would be provided.
Despite the service never being properly provided under the agreed conditions, they are now refusing to refund the prepaid amount, claiming the vehicle was “ready for pickup.” Formal complaints have now been submitted to the Croatian State Inspectorate, European consumer protection authorities, and relevant EU bodies.

Dear Sir or Madam, France the 14th may 2026
I hereby place Smart Rent a Car on formal notice regarding the incident
that occurred the 23th of December 2025 involving your rental vehicle
registered QQZ-693.
More than several months have now passed, and I have yet to receive:
1. The identity and contact details of the insurance company handling the
claim
2. The claim reference number
3. Any official determination of liability
4. Any expert assessment or justification for retaining my €1,200 deposit
The prolonged retention of €1,200 without documented justification or
proof of liability is unacceptable and may constitute unjustified
enrichment and breach of
contractual transparency obligations.
I remind you that I signed the accident report at the time of the incident
and have cooperated fully. I am therefore entitled to full disclosure
regarding the processing of this insurance claim.
Accordingly, I formally demand that within 14 days of receipt of this
notice you provide:
1. Full details of the insurer and claim reference
2. Written confirmation of the current status of the claim
3. Documentary evidence justifying the retention of €1,200
4. Immediate reimbursement of the €1,200 should no final determination of
liability exist
Failing a satisfactory response within 14 days, I will proceed without
further notice to:
• File a complaint with the Malta Financial Services Authority
• Refer the matter to the European Consumer Centre
• Initiate recovery proceedings for the €1,200 plus any associated costs
and legal interest.
This letter is sent without prejudice to any further legal rights and
remedies available to me.
I strongly recommend that this matter now be resolved without further delay.

I booked two separate rentals in Turkey through CarJet, using two different valid credit cards. In both cases, the local rental companies claimed they “could not process” the security deposit — an issue many other customers have also reported. Both cards worked everywhere else on my trip.
At the first location, we were in the middle of nowhere. When their terminal failed, the staff did not offer any solution and instead drove us back to the airport. I did not decline the booking — I simply wasn’t given any way to proceed.
CarJet’s customer service then repeated the rental company’s explanation and insisted I had refused an insurance package that was never offered. When I asked for anything in writing or for the case to be escalated, the agents hung up on me and stated that “there is no one else” who could assist. No escalation path, no accountability, no written confirmation.
CarJet offered no alternative provider, no support, and no fair resolution. Based on this experience, I cannot recommend booking with them.

Do not use this company we had the worst experience ever we arrived at a destination point to pick up the hire car in Florida. I presented them with the coupon that was emailed to me alongside my drivers license. Them disputed that we had to pay extra insurance which we refuse to pay because it wasn’t in our policy. We were told all we needed was the coupon our driving license and a credit card to proceed with his booking. I emailed Carjet with my complaint that we did not receive the car due to the extra fees .The company in Florida lied and stated that we did not produce the coupon or driving license at the desk. So our bank is pursuing this claim they must think we were born yesterday. I will be presenting this case to the ombudsman too.
In regards to the below reply from Carjet their response to me personally, was we did not show them the coupon which we did so we will not be compensated I think that says it all.. I also went back into my email to check the coupon they sent and guess what they have removed it 😡

I booked a car through their platform with AddCar / Benz Car in Rabat, expecting customer support and protection in case of problems with the rental company. Unfortunately, I was charged a much higher amount than agreed, without a clear explanation, and Carjet was not helpful in resolving the issue.
Despite providing details and requesting clarification, I received little effective support. It is frustrating that companies like AddCar / Benz Car in Rabat, which already have many similar negative reviews online, continue to be listed on their platform.
As a customer, I did not feel protected at all. Be careful and read reviews before booking.

Very easy to navigate the website with useful filters. Great range of cars to choose from. Cheapest price that I could find on the internet….and I checked a lot of sites. I’ve not collected the car yet, so cannot comment on service.

The price went up $80 when I went out of the site and then went back in to book it. I literally hopped out to check a email and went back in to see it increased. Disappointing.
… and their response below: it was a Wednesday night at 9pm so I wouldn’t think car booking for cairns at that exact minute would have been high enough to change it. I’ll cop it as I should know when researching, AI can tell what I’m looking for and you have one crack to book it.

Used carjet to book a vehicle after being told I could do it using a debit card only to be told by supplier I had to pay security deposit with a credit card which I don’t have, then had to fork out another £600 to hire from another company all while chasing these scammers for my refund of £581.
“Beware” don’t trust these cowboys.
