Awful Customer Service
I have to say it pains me to write such a bad review of a company I once thought of as very good. They have been let down by their appalling customer service.
I purchased a Carplay2Air device 3 years ago. Although out of warranty the Consumer Rights Act 2015 states the device must work for a reasonable time. Three years is not a reasonable time. The update via the IP address has never worked and takes me to other sites. I asked if was possible to do a manual firmware update. I was sent a file via email with very clear instructions on how to perform the upgrade. After installation the device will not work.
Carplay2Air have said they will send me a replacement free of charge as long as I pay the postage and return the old one at my own cost as well. They dress this up like they are doing me a favour.
The device was working before the update was applied. I followed their instructions to the letter. No where did it say in the instructions this could “brick” the device.
So they then have the audacity to break my working device then expect me to pay up.
I will now purchase a device from another, hopefully reputable company, and treat this as just conned by another shoddy internet company.
At the time Carplay2Air were at the top of this business. There are now cheaper, better devices out there.
My advise is to avoid this dodgy outfit at all costs.
READ THIS BEFORE YOU BUY!
What happened to me has happened to many others - just search Reddit and you’ll see dozens of people reporting the same issues.
And those 4.9-star reviews on their website? Convenient, right? Total bullshit. You can’t even submit a 1-star review - the system just doesn’t work. It’s clearly manipulated to deceive people and that says it all.
I bought this product expecting something premium given the price - probably like you’re thinking right now. Unfortunately, what I got was the worst online shopping experience I’ve ever had, combined with the worst customer service imaginable.
The Bluetooth adapter worked for 2 or 3 weeks. Then, completely out of nowhere, it stopped connecting. I tried every possible fix, nothing worked. I contacted support - they gave me generic instructions that didn’t help either. Then they asked me to send the product back… to China! So on top of the already high price, I had to pay for international shipping myself - from Europe to China.
The product was rejected by Chinese customs and returned to me, damaged. I kept following up with the company for months, and the only reply I got was an insulting offer: a 30% discount if I bought a new product. Seriously?
I obviously refused - and from that point, silence. No refund, no solution, no accountability. Nothing.
Absolutely disgraceful. And again, this is not an isolated case. Just search for it - the number of complaints is massive. There’s probably a reason why the price dropped from over €100 to €70 this past year: wave after wave of unhappy customers.
Avoid this product at all costs.
Avoid Car2play2 Air at all costs !!!!
One Star – Avoid at All Costs
This wireless Bluetooth streaming device has been nothing short of a complete disappointment from start to finish. It took three weeks just to arrive, which should have been my first red flag. Once I finally got it, the device was glitchy and unreliable—constantly cutting in and out, pairing inconsistently, and generally failing to perform even the most basic functions it was advertised for.
And then, in true lemon fashion, it just stopped working altogether after a short period of light use. Dead. No power. No response. Nothing.
To their credit, customer service was responsive—but that’s where the positives end. I was told I’d need to return the broken device at my own expense and wait another three weeks for it to reach their distributor. Only then would they ship a replacement, which—surprise—will take another three weeks to arrive.
So let’s recap: a defective product, two shipping charges, and a six-week turnaround just to maybe get a working unit? That’s not customer service—that’s customer punishment.
This product wasted my time, my money, and my patience. I highly recommend you avoid this trainwreck of a device and the company behind it.
It Quit working after 6 Months!
The return of a defective product to this company is horrible! First, they asked me to record a video to show how I was connecting the dongle. Then they responded with shipping directions which they want me to pay for shipping to return the product to China! Just not with the hassle of waiting eight weeks to see if I actually get a replacement for another defective product from China! Buyer Beware!!!
Do not buy.
Please, please do not buy. Owned one now for 18 months. First one terrible, totally unstable, works for 5 minutes then restarts. Sometimes volume works sometimes not. After around 4/5 hours of my wasted time working through their fixes (which are all things I had tried) I had to spend around £30 to send it back for a new one to be shipped. Whole process took around 8 weeks. Replacement just as bad, which ever software version I use. Very very very frustrating. Let me be clear: THEY DO NOT WORK.

Wish I read the review prior to purchase it’s true. Avoid if you can

Scam didn’t work and you have up send it back to China for a refund.
Buyer Beware! They don’t honor their warranty!!
Buyer beware. This company will do everything they can to not honor their product warranty. I received the Carplay2Air Dongle as a Christmas gift and after one of their updates it bricked the device. I’ve had no less than 10 emails going back and forth with them regarding the defective product. I’ve spent at least 4 hours following each and every step that they required. With exception to the making a video from beginning to end. Seriously, these people will run you through a ringer to return a defective product. I have over 10 emails documenting my claim here. I finally shipped back to them at $17.90 my cost via USPS. Sent them pictures of tracking number, reciept and customs declaration form. They still say they will not replace till they receive it. The problem with this is a parcel can only be tracked until it gets to China. Tracking is not guaranteed once it arrives. The BOTTOM LINE… they do not want to honor their stated warranty.
Glitchy product with terrible support
As others have stated, the return process is terrible. The unit I received is defective. Then I was told to jump through all the same hoops as others on here. It would cost as much to return it as you have already paid. Not to mention all the documentation they want. I was told to make a video of the unit acting up. Well, using it on a compatible motorcycle, like I was, trying to video would be rather dangerous. Don't you think? Run away as fast as you can! They will rip you off.
This CarPlay 2air do not buy
This CarPlay 2air do not buy. After sale no service. No help.
They are not responding when trouble arise.
They ask you to send back to China and the postal cost more than itself.
When I sent it by regular mail. They just told they never received it. Already 3 months.
When it troubleshooting it doesn't have reset button. Need to send it back
Defective Unit-you pay return shipping of $45.
I received a defective unit. They were willing to send me a replacement after I returned the defective one at my own expense. USPS shipping to China is $45; they were unwilling to pay the shipping, even though it was a defective unit.
Don't believe the positive reviews.
Don't believe the positive reviews.
This simply doesn't work and when you ask for a refund, the demand a restocking fee. They are untrustworthy and the product is useless.
Rubbish product and rubbish customer…
Rubbish product and rubbish customer service. It didn’t work and their “customer service” made me waste time trying different things to try to get it working. I eventually had enough and said I wanted a refund. They said the time for a return had lapsed. Honestly, a bunch of unprofessional amateurs.
I purchased this recently
I purchased this recently, but don't seem be be able to leave my review on the actual carplay site, unless I select 5 stars..... The carplay device itself is fabulous - I just didn't have a great purchase experience. We were leaving on a trip, so I selected the 'express' shipping option (Express (2-3 business days) which was $39.95 vs $4.95. The item didn't arrive in 2-3 business days as I aniticipated. In fact it was over a week and a half. I contacted customer service multiple times to try to see if there could be a refund of the charge for 'express', and hit a brick wall. The customer service rep said that 'express' means it leaves the distribution center in 2-3 business days. What happens afterwards with the carrier is out of their hands..... I finally gave up asking, and to this day am trying to figure out how I paid a $40 upcharge (an additional 1/3 of the cost of the adapter) to have someone package my purchase up within 2-3 business days.... So I guess I would say 'yes. the carplay2 adapter works great. But don't go with the upcharge for expediated shipping.'
Bought this direct from their website…
Bought this direct from their website for around $100 and it took several weeks to get here. Once here it worked for about 2 months and then stopped connecting. Communication with the support folks is difficult and they have you try everything except rebuilding their product for them. After several weeks of back and forth they wanted me to ship it back to China at a cost of $68 for the cheapest way to get there. Don’t buy from them. I replaced it with one from Amazon for cheaper and that one works great. I have a CPLAY2air I bought over a year ago and that one seems to work well. Something changed in their QC and support. Go elsewhere.
Avoid any cost!!!
This unit worked well for 15 months
This unit worked well for 15 months. dropped out a couple of times then started to not play sound a few times. This morning this was working OK then stopped again.
So I checked for a firmware update. Did the update, stated it was successful and then it would not connect or turn on. In fact it is a brick.
I contacted them, they wanted a video. so I sent the video. they then said it's out of warranty and they want me to return it at my costs (£12) and when they get it they'll send me another back with a postage cost ($19).
5-6 weeks probably.
Really unimpressed with this level of service.
Awful con of a company
This company is a total fraud, products come from china and take for ever to arrive. When it does arrive it does not work. They tell you that you need to pay a $25 restock fee and pay the return postage to china. Reported to PayPal and Consumer Rights.
You are unable to leave a genuine review on their website. AVOID.
Crap
Crap! First one always started with no touch ability and have to restart. Tried to update firmware and it bricked! Wrote and complained and had to pay $35 postage to return, sent me a new one which will not work at all! Starts, works for 5-30min then crashes with hardware error message. Refused to replace the second one…don’t touch with 20ft pole
Really poor experience with this…
Really poor experience with this company. The item arrived pretty quick, which I was pleasantly surprised by. When testing the unit, it was defective and didn't work. I believe it has a faulty Bluetooth module. I asked to return the item and was advised I would need to pay the shipping fee to china.. which was £25-£30. I would then also be liable for a £25 restocking fee.. well that was pretty much the entire value of the unit.. I believe this guy is actually running a scam.
