Feels like scam

First we waited at Baecelona airport about 30 minutes for the shuttle bus and that van became full. We waited another 15 minutes driver to come back.

I took Autoeurope insurance so they demanded 12000eur deposit. When I tried to pay with Visa or Mastercard they didn't work out. Lady at Centauro said they are rejected. Well, I called to bank and they said they can't see any payment tried. Lady refused to accept two 600eur payments.

Only solution was to pay insurance more than 100eur. Car was good and return worked well.

I learned my lesson that better to rent from the company with airport office. There were many options. Also better check independent rating like this truspilot before renting.

Very disappointing experience from…

Very disappointing experience from start to finish.
I booked a car through an online agency, and they handled the whole reservation without clearly showing the details. I didn’t realise they had set the pick up time for 9:20pm, even though my flight was only landing at 11:50pm. No one ever told me that the rental office closed at 11pm.
When I arrived at the airport, tired after a long flight, there was no one waiting for me and the office was completely shut. I contacted the company straight away, hoping they would understand the situation, but instead they blamed me and refused to offer any kind of help or compensation.
It was a really frustrating and stressful experience, and the lack of responsibility from the company made it even worse. I definitely wouldn’t recommend them.

Avoid this company.

Avoid this company.

This has been the worst car rental experience I have ever had.

I returned the vehicle with a full tank exactly as required. More than two months later, I am still waiting for my fuel refund.

During this time I have sent around 10 emails to Centauro. Most of them were simply ignored. The only responses I received were automated emails saying my case was “resolved”, even though I had neither received my money nor any meaningful explanation.

As a customer, I fulfilled every obligation under the rental agreement. Centauro has not fulfilled theirs.

A company that keeps a customer’s money for over two months and fails to respond to repeated requests demonstrates an unacceptable level of customer service.

I am now escalating the matter through Carflexi, consumer protection channels and my payment provider. I will also continue to share my experience publicly so that other customers are aware of how my case has been handled.

If you value your time, your money and professional customer service, I strongly recommend choosing another rental company.

No contract, unexpected charges.

I never received a rental contract by mail. And I have been charged some 2000 SEK without any explanation.

We booked a small car for three days in…

We booked a small car for three days in Santorini where they (Centauro) demanded to pay fuel cost amounted at 108 euro. This amount would be returned in 2-3 days after we leaved the car if the reservoir was full. The day we left they checked that it was full and they told us that we will get the money back in 2-3 days. After 15 days we have not received any money back and Centauro office tells us that they do not have any responsibility and to complain in the official site while we still waiting our money back ! I would not suggest this rental company as they are so impolite and unprofessional.. the worst experience ever in car rentals!Booking reference : GR26022993

Do not use - total scammers

Would never recommend these to anyone. They made us pay for insurance when we have bought some at the time of the booking. I even went back to the desk with my wife with the documents showing that we didn’t need to purchase their insurance. The lady on the counter said it wasn’t valid and we needed to get through them. We were never offer the deposit option which we should have been, after complaining I was told that they wouldn’t do anything about it.

Total scammers.

Terrible experience

We rented two cars (category F4A) from Centauro in Mallorca.

We knew the pick-up location required a shuttle bus from the airport, but we had to wait around 40 minutes in the sun because of the queue. Once we reached the rental office, we then had to wait another 45 minutes before being served.

The organization was extremely poor. Several groups of 4–5 staff members appeared to be standing around doing very little while customers continued waiting. A shift change also took place during the busiest period, making the delays even worse. After I complained, one employee simply told me in Spanish to try another counter.

The first booking was processed correctly. However, for the second booking they gave us a Fiat 500, despite us having booked and paid for an F4A category vehicle. Only after we pointed out the mistake did they admit the error and provide the correct car.

The drop-off process itself was straightforward, but we again had to wait around 30 minutes for the shuttle bus back to the airport, which is simply unacceptable.

Overall, this was a very disappointing experience due to the long waiting times, poor organization, and lack of customer service. Even speaking Spanish did not improve the experience.

I would not rent from Centauro again. In contrast, I previously rented with Record Go, where both the pick-up and drop-off were directly at the airport and the entire process was quick and hassle-free. Paying a little extra for that convenience is well worth it.

Excellent Service and No Unexpected Charges

After reading countless reviews of car rental companies before our trip to Sicily, I was genuinely nervous about renting a car. It seemed that every company had horror stories about unexpected charges, fuel disputes or issues with insurance.

I chose Centauro because their Premium cover was reasonably priced and removed the need to rely on third-party excess insurance. A friend had also recommended them, which gave me some reassurance.

My experience couldn't have been more different from the negative reviews I had read. We arrived about an hour earlier than our scheduled pick-up time and there was no queue. The staff were friendly, efficient and gave us the car immediately.

As I had become quite sceptical from reading reviews, I carried out a thorough walk-around inspection before leaving. I noticed that a couple of screws were missing from the number plate and flagged it to the team. Without any hesitation, they switched us into another vehicle straight away.

The car itself was excellent – very new, in great condition and perfect for our trip.

One of the biggest concerns I had was the fuel policy. Centauro charge for a full tank upfront and many reviews online claimed customers refuelled the car before returning it but never received their refund. Rather than taking any chances, I returned the car without refuelling, having used roughly one-third of a tank. I had paid €96 upfront for fuel and, on return, I was given paperwork showing a refund of €58. The refund appeared in my bank account three days later without any follow-up required.

Overall, the entire process was straightforward, transparent and stress-free. Based on my experience, I would have no hesitation recommending Centauro and would happily use them again

The biggest issue was the lack of…

The biggest issue was the lack of transparency. Important conditions were either buried in the rental agreement or presented in a way that was inconsistent with the information shown during booking. For example, debit cards appeared to be accepted, yet other requirements effectively created obstacles that were not immediately apparent.

The insurance situation was equally disappointing. Even when additional coverage has already been purchased through the booking platform, customers may still find themselves under pressure to purchase the rental company's own expensive insurance to avoid the risk of disputes and unexpected charges.

What is most frustrating is that these issues are not new. A quick look at customer reviews shows that similar complaints have been raised repeatedly. Booking platforms and rental companies are well aware of these concerns, yet the information presented to customers remains far less clear than it should be.

My advice: do not be blinded by the low price. Read every condition, every note, and every exclusion before booking. The advertised price may look attractive, but the real cost and the real risks only become apparent when you examine the details.

Hired a car in Kefelonia. Brand new, great. Big sell for extras. Charged a fuel deposit and 5 weeks later not refunded and ignoring my requests for my refund.

VERY BAD SERVICE

VERY BAD SERVICE: I had to pay €40 extra because I arrived after 10pm, but the reason was that we had to wait for 1 hour on Centauro’s shuttle service because a road accident happened. Accidents can happen, but they charged €40 for something that was clearly not our fault!

Centauro Florence

I used Centauro for the first time in Florence, not easy to find them at first, but what struck me the most was the kindness and efficiency of the staff, specially Sara, she was extremely helpfull. I used them again the following week. Cars were new and in good condition.

Tankfüllung nicht erstattet!

Uns wurde erst ein defektes Auto übergeben mit vollem Tank und dann Ersatz mit einem nicht mal halb gefüllten Tank. Uns wurde gesagt, wir sollten das Auto auf jeden Fall mit vollem Tank zurückgeben. Wir sind komplett auf den gut halben Tank-Kosten sitzen geblieben. Trotz unter Zeugen und Vorlage der Rechnung gibt es keinerlei Ersatz. Obwohl es uns auch bei der Abgabe nochmal zugesagt war - mündlich...

SEHR UNFREUNDLICHER UND SCHWIERIGER REKLAMANTIONSPROZESS.

We were initially given a defective vehicle with a full tank and then received a replacement vehicle with less than half a tank of fuel.

We were explicitly instructed to return the replacement vehicle with a full tank, which we did. As a result, we had to pay for more than half a tank of fuel ourselves.

Despite providing photographs, fuel receipts, and witness confirmation, we have received no reimbursement whatsoever for these additional fuel costs. We were also verbally assured at the time of vehicle return that the issue would be resolved and the fuel costs would be refunded.

Unfortunately, this promise was not honoured.

The complaint handling process was extremely difficult, unhelpful, and disappointing. Despite repeated explanations, the actual issue concerning the replacement vehicle was never properly addressed.

I cannot recommend this company based on my experience.

Deposit not returned

The car itself was great; however, my experience with customer service has been disappointing.

When collecting the vehicle, I was informed that two separate deposit amounts would be taken from my card and fully refunded upon the car’s return. After returning the vehicle, it was inspected by a member of staff who confirmed that everything was in order. Despite this, I have only received one of the deposits back.

I have received no explanation as to why the remaining deposit has not been refunded, and despite contacting the company twice, I have only received automated responses stating that I will be contacted. Several weeks later, I am still waiting for a resolution.

Until this issue is addressed, I cannot recommend the company.

About the service in Bilbao Airport.
The car was fine, and the stuff at booking point was acceptable, but ...
The transfer from the airport to the booking place is very slow, with very few places in the bus.
There is no documents received by email.
There is no answers on the signals for missing fuel refund.
And of course, the main issue is that the fuel refund is missing.
Even there is some activity on my comments, no real solutions proposed.
Not recommended rent-a-car company.

Professional confidence tricksters

Professional confidence tricksters, I paid for a Skoda 4X4 but was told they didn’t have any available so gave me a tiny MG instead and we had to try and fit 5 suitcases in it unsuccessfully! Ended up driving to our villa with the suitcases on our laps.. unhelpful staff and a deeply unpleasant experience overall

Was scammed out of €100

Was scammed out of €100. Gave a deposit to cover motorway tolls and told this would be refunded within 3 weeks. Never was refunded and the company won’t engage at all. I would recommend avoiding using this company.
