Cannot fault the food and service but no information was given on boarding the train of the route etc and the scenery was spoilt with rubble scattered along the lovely country ride. And when we stopped for the train to pull us backwards we looked out on an old dilapidated cow shed with eye sore corrugated sheet. I'm sure the route could be made more beautiful with design and tidying up. And probably actors to make this a more memorable journey, with a little imagination it could be an experience of a life time, which sadly I did not take that away with me. AnnMarie
My Mum and Dad went to Churnet for the pie supper experience on the 21st August, my Mum is disabled and the 1 disabled parking space was taken, so they had to park all the way at the bottom of the long car park and walk back. My Mum was pretty exhausted by the time they got to the ticket office but the lady behind the desk was marvellous with them. She offered to help get my Mum on to the train and showed them where best to sit for ease and went to get their pie dinner from the cafe. She brought them to my Mum, whilst my Dad went to get some drinks. They said she couldn't have been more helpful. The train ride was a couple of hours and they really enjoyed the steam train.
My Dad said the pie was a microwaved job and not the best quality but for the price it was for the event,it was overall very good value.
The lady even came back through the cabin with further drinks to buy and cake & chocolate bars/snacks etc. Just to note it's cash only on the train.
They very much enjoyed the evening and would do it again as the staff are very helpful and kind.
Enjoyed our 2 hour steam train ride, staff were very helpful and everything was well run.

Lovely relaxing train ride. We all enjoyed our coffee and cake and love watching the scenery as it went by. Even the teens had a good time.

I booked this for my husband’s 70th birthday, we both enjoyed the experience. We remember steam trains coming into Woodside Station in Birkenhead when we were little kids.
The food was lovely and the staff were very friendly and helpful.
We would definitely look to book another trip. A really nice day out.

The whole experience was very well organised from start to finish. We elected to go on the evening Spud and Steam train. The food was very good and the train ride was quite good. My only negative was there was not much scenery to see as the line is mainly bordered by trees. However, it was worth the £15 price
Very pleasant staff. Well organised and a lovely train journey. Highly recommend.

I took my grandson aged 9 on the Churnet Valley Railway yesterday. It was a great experience which we had done before. As I am on elbow crutches following hip replacement the ramp was very useful as well as the help from your staff. The muffins and chocolate brownies were delicious and enormous. We had a compartment to ourselves so my grandson could use his camera on either side of the train. All the staff we very helpful and happy to chat about working on the railway. The only one thing I would like to say is that after the trip the queue for the toilets was really long and the disabled toilet was locked. Someone eventually came with a key and opened it so I went in with my grandson. I think on days where the railway is so very busy the disabled toilet should be open to cut down the queue. I was told there was 90 people in the dining carriages and 140 passengers just enjoying the ride. So you were extremely busy. My grandson left his coat when we used the disabled toilet, I have spoken to a lady at the railway this morning and I can pick up his coat tomorrow. I am grateful that it was found. Please thank everyone of your staff for our wonderful visit to the Churnet Valley Railway, we only live in Kingsley and will be back again next year in the school holidays.

A thoroughly good experience from beginning to end! The food was delicious and the attention from the waitresses and waiters was worthy of a top class hotel. Interesting journey but over much too quickly! Highly recommend!
