Utterly pathetic

All of these 1* reviews describe exactly what happened to me.
I was then threatened with legal action for posting a bad review (I see they’ve been threatening this to others) which is really quite pathetic and just clutching at straws.
I seriously question the authenticity of the 5* reviews on here - I even saw two reviews by two different ‘people’ which had exactly the same wording... but yeah sure this is a reeeeally legitimate business! (I asked Trustpilot to look into this issue and was ignored)
I can only imagine the panic going on behind the scenes as they’ve realised their shoddy operation can’t last much longer.
Bring on the inevitable long-winded reply telling me I’m committing a crime and they’re going to sue!

SCAM SCAM and SCAM again

Do not trust who is saying that is reliable because everyone can write false feedbacks.
Ask yourself and why all that bad reviews are saying the same? I cannot believe that I got scammed once and after they tried a second time.
How can you take advantage of people who already lost their job? Sell the course with a sponsorship with a fee of £298.
Plus they are connected with another site CIFA totally made up by themselves and not recognise by anybody. How do I know? I could listen from my phone ( while I was talking with the recruiter of cityplacement) the ringtone of the arrived message I wrote a to the CIFA chat customer service. Futhermore, they could see what I was writing in chat without even send it, not very legal for my privacy but for sure not very clever from a scammer answering to something that I did not send it

Please be advised that trust pilot is not a place to accuse companies of wrong doing, the platform is for genuine reviews of products and services.

To refer to our company as fraudulent is entirely unacceptable.
We would strongly suggest that before you accuse a company of being fraudulent that you take the time to conduct actual research and be a genuine customer.

It is clear to see from your comments that you have yet again falsely accused an independent educational organisation of not being accredited whereby it is accredited by a leading accrediting body.

Concerned

Someone I know was contacted by this recruitment agency who told them in order to progress to the interview stage they would need to pay for (with part sponsorship) a £298 course and was put under a lot of undue pressure to pay for this course telling them they were a fantastic candidate but this had to be done immediately prior to attending the interview and that completion of the course was not required (an unusual practice I’d say as someone who works in finance, I have never seen this before and it strikes me as quite questionable).
At the time of the interview and the time I wrote my first review, CIFA were a member of the CPD but did not have ANY of their courses accredited with them including the course that was heavily recommended to the person which has become accredited as of yesterday so I literally have absolutely no idea what you’re talking about below and you keep changing the narrative. I am worried that there is a lot of fraudulent activity given Covid and there are many, many companies preying on desperate grads in a terrible job market and climate.
City Placements, rather than attack any poor graduates concerned for their money and safety for trying to fight financial crime and scams that we’ve all been subjected to – why don’t you think about your business model? YOU were the company pressuring graduates into doing courses that were not accredited, for jobs!

Dear Mr Anonymous

We find it hard to believe that you can accuse a job advertising platform of being fraudulent by recommending accredited professional development to enhance a persons career prospects!

Unfortunately we cannot guarantee any individual an interview as we are not the hiring company, but at times it can be painfully obvious to see that some people do not have the right skills or qualifications.

We would be doing a disservice by not pointing this out and raising awareness to the overwhelming need to improve.

Continuing professional development is extremely important, for example, whether you’re looking for a promotion, or you’re hoping to gain employment with a prestigious company, CPD can really help. It enables you to stand out from the crowd, with research showing those who have undertaken CPD, have a significantly higher chance of gaining a promotion or moving on to a different area within their chosen field. What this also means of course, is that you’ll also be able to achieve a higher salary.

The bottom line really is, you are far better to have relevant qualifications than not.
Please also understand that vacancies that roll through our jobs feeds have deadlines for applications set according to those organisations, which is entirely out of our hands.

Our advice is to help you to help yourself, and develop yourself in the right manner to achieve the right results.

If you would prefer to continue to waste your time making failed applications then that is entirely your choice.
We have been kind enough to make you aware of what can be improved, the advice is free and optional.

We are a transparent organisation and making accusations of fraud is incredibly misleading and entirely unfounded.

However we respect your right to an opinion which is perfectly fine.
We would appreciate that you did not make accusations of fraud simply because you do not understand the value and need for professional development.
Recommending professional development to enhance a person's career prospects that enables a human being to better themselves and get the type of career that they want is not fraud.

It is simply sound logical advice.

Kind regards

Unsure but felt a bit fraudulent

Received a phone call, went through a bunch of quick interview style questions. They said they would sent off my c.v to the company to start a job on £30,000 a year while I got put on hold. Came back minutes later and said I wasn't qualified and needed the qualification mentioned in other negative reviews on here. I just ended the call shortly after.

Dear Johnny thank you for posting your genuine review of our company, yes we can completely agree that you have been spoken to by one of our advisors and professional develop was recomended to enhance your career prospects.

Unfortunately not everyone is suitable for all areas of finance, it would make our job far easier if everyone was a perfect fit for every role that came through our system but sadly this isnt the case!

Please refer to this video directly from the CISI that states exactly what we have said, EMPLOYERS REQUIRE PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT AND ACADEMICS IS NOT ENOUGH. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A_yQOCSdbGI

After reviewing your application with us we have seen from the advisors notes and our screening process that you genuinely are in need of further development.

Gaining employment in finance is not a simple process and some people can spend months and months applying for roles and never recieving any responses.
There have been people making in excess of 300 applications with no interviews, our aim is to put a stop to this!

Which is the very reason why we refer genuine people like yourself to professional development as it really improves your chances of securing interviews with companies.

Apart from referals and help and advising on interview preparation and our pioneering Video resume which have been built into your candidate log in area, we are currently working on the facilty to add QR codes that can be placed on your CV to enable a perspective employer to simply scan the code and be directed instantly to your video resume so you can really show your skills and talents, which with a traditional CV you cannot really do.

Everything our company does is to benifit and enhance our candidates Career prospects.
We are one of the very few recruitment organisations that actually favour our candidates over securing contracts.

We believe that sending forward quality candidates to prospective job roles is far better than sending over a file of CV'S that no one is going to read.

It is comments like the one you have posted that can damage the reputations of professional companies, and slow down your career progress and that of others!

You can always email us on info@cityplacements.co.uk if you have any questions and require further clarification.

Useless waste of time. Scam!!!!

Useless waste of time! Spent about 40 minutes with interview questions and then claimed I need to get a financial qualification which i would have to pay for. For the record, as a graduate/entry-level job you do not need a qualification. So don't waste your time with this company. Its sad that you have to waste peoples time and give them false hope in the midst of a global pandemic, such a horrible way to make money.

Jamilla ( NOT SARAH ) we would like to say Trust pilot is for genuine reviews and experiences, and not for people to use false names to make false reviews and write un factual statements that will damage peoples careers in the midst of a global pandemic.

What you have stated is candidates should Ignore professional bodies such as the CISI who have more than 45,0000 members worldwide and we should Ignore the existence of FCA which is the regulator in the UK finance industry.

Watch the video from the CISI is states exactly what we have.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A_yQOCSdbGI

You are stating that the Continuing professional development institutions around the world such as the CISI, CFA CII LIBF which have in excess of 100,000 professionally qualified members who are actively working within prestigious finance institutions around the world have all made a mistake and Regulation is not needed to work in finance!

All aspiring finance professionals that are applying for roles in finance shouldnt take your advice on the professional requirements for entry into the financial industry as it is factless!

What you are stating on this post is that all financial graduates seeking employment in finance should Ignore Global Regulating Bodies and Global Professional Bodies that provide the professional qualifications needed to provide investment and financial advice and it is not needed to work in this field?

Being a graduate with a master's or economics or engineering degree does not entitle you to conduct regulated Investment Practices.

This is miss guided information and should be immediately ignored and or flagged by any viewer that reads this comment as this in its entirety warrants no merit and is damaging advice to any individual that is attempting to find employment within the financial industry.

The financial industry has requirements for different fields of finance.

All of which is overseen by the Financial Conduct Authority - The (FCA)

For a list of regulated activities, we suggest you read this directly on the FCA website and pay close attention to the information on this topic provided by The chartered institute for securities and investments which clarifies in simple to understand words the facts of what is required through the industry.
https://www.fca.org.uk/firms/authorisation/how-to-apply/activities
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xmRKgkGFoRo
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O5_b-XX2L_k

To be regarded as a professional and gain employment within a professional institution to provide investment advice you have to be qualified, it is that simple.

We are a professional company with a high standing of professional integrity and we will not under any circumstances give false hope to any candidate by sending their applications to roles that they are not qualified for, this is unethical and entirely un professional practices.

They have no details of the company you're applying for, they are located in manchester but have a london number and they just want you to sit the CIFA course which is the biggest waste of time, I've never heard of any institution or employment agency ask for them. There is no role, it's a fake advertisement in order for you to pay the £300 or £500 CIFA course.

We would like to say that your comment would appreciate some professional integrity to be used.
As a company, our vacancies are live and very easy to see on the home page. We work alongside some highly established companies to provide a much-needed service. It is our responsibility to advise you of the necessary requirements for entry into the role you are applying for. To state that our jobs do not exist is ludicrous - the vast majority of these company names are openly available on our website.

We feel it unfair that individuals can, with no evidence and no factual knowledge, assume and refer to an organisation as illegitimate. We do not forward unqualified candidates to positions that have specific requirements. As an aspiring professional in this industry, and to prevent further rejection and disappointment, it is important for you and other candidates to conduct proper and correct research for the relevant positions that you are attempting to apply for,.

All companies that have the ability to help you overcome the hurdles you are facing will have products and services openly available to help and assist you, just as we do. You are under no obligation to accept our advice or guidance, as this is down to an individual's choice; however, our knowledge and experience within the sector actively gains people employment.

We wish you the very best of luck in the future and you are always welcome to return and use our services

Dear Mr. Aaron Bootle

Thank you for taking the time to write a review of the company, however, we would genuinely wish that you portrayed an accurate depiction of your experience with City Placements.

This statement is not only inaccurate it is also completely misleading and very far from the actual experience.

As previously stated all of our calls are recorded for training and protection purposes you were never told to get of the phone at any point.

The Facts of the matter are that you have genuinely used our services as a customer from the 17th November until the 27th November 2020.

You have openly admitted that you had no form of experience and no financial academics nor the relevant qualifications and needed assistance to enter into the field of finance and needed help and guidance, which we provided for you and were actively working on your behalf.

As a company, we will always do our best to help people like yourself that are having difficulties with Applications, CVs, Job seeking, and Education in the financial industry.

We have provided you with your products and services from the 17th until the 27th, at which time you had stumbled across some of the untruthful assumptions of people who are not genuine customers of City Placements who have posted misleading statements due to their own personal reasons.

You had sent us an email and our customer service responded to you in a polite and helpful manner to answer your questions queries to resolve them for you.

We do not understand why you would write such a misleading statement, to state that you had fallen for some kind of fraudulent behavior and portray yourself as a victim of an illegitimate operation.

You since requested a cancellation and this was granted less the fees associated with our expenses.

No scam organisation would provide a refund if they were simply out to take money from people.

It defeats the purpose of being a scam!

Quite simply you had overreacted due to reading unfounded and inaccurate comments made by individuals who have never been actual customers of City Placements here on trust pilot which is renowned for falsified reviews.

The reality is very simply people who are in experienced within this field often assume the worst if they do not understand something and with no evidence or facts make extremely wild accusations.

People sadly do not appreciate the hard work that we put in on a daily basis to help genuine people such as yourself.

If you are a victim of anything it would be by allowing yourself to be misslead by ill advised Individuals with no genuine insight into financial recruitment and not very much time on their hands due to corona.

We respect people's right to have an opinion and as a company, we always do our very best to be open and transparent in all aspects of our companies procedures, sadly due to the inaccuracies of other peoples miss informed and unprofessional opinions you are missing out on a professional service that may very well be what enables you to break into the field you are trying so hard to do.

As a company, we have been nothing but helpful to you every step of the way since you began working with us.

We wish you the very best of luck in the future and should you ever wish to benefit from any of our paid or unpaid services in the future, you are always welcome too.

We would also appreciate it if you wrote a genuine review of our company and your actual experience and not lash out at us out of anger.

Your refund was processed on the day that it was requested. If there is anything further that you would like to discuss the office opening hours are 9-5 pm Monday to Friday.
Our walk-in services will resume when it is deemed safe to do so by the health authorities, you would be welcome to attend our offices.

Please refer to your bank statement over the course of the next 5-10 business days.

THIS IS A SCAM!!!!

THIS IS A SCAM!!!!
Similar to the experience some of the other reviewers had.
I was called on a private number by a lady who claimed she was representing a large investment firm. She wasted almost 45 mins of my time going through interview questions. She then said she would call me back as she sees no reason why I shouldn't get the job and is going to take my cv 'downstairs to the client'. She called back and said I didn't have a CIFA certificate and said this was the only thing stopping me. She said the client liked me so much and would be willing o pay half of the £600 course which would mean I would have to pay 300. I became quite sceptical and asked if i could call back. Only to some on here to see it was certainly a scam as i thought!!

Dont waste your time people! SCAAAAMMMMMMMM

Dear Tee

Thank you for taking the time to write your review opinion.

When we conducted your pre-selection assessment it became apparent to our advisor that you had made several failed applications for roles in financial analysis which was difficult to understand as you stated on your CV that you were a CFA level 1 Candidate with prior experience.

The advisor took a great deal of time to understand your situation and after a series of questions directly relating to your CFA 1 you provided the wrong information which raised doubts in the advisor's mind as to the credibility of your CFA 1 Status.

After a series of questions whereby the advisor specifically asked for your CFA 1 Student Enrollment ID, you became open and admitted that in fact, you did not possess the CFA level 1 nor had you ever registered for this program with the CFA Society.

The CFA is a specific requirement for investment analysis positions.

When the advisor asked you as to why it was placed on your cv without you genuinely studying for the CFA Program, you stated that you thought it would help you get interviews.

You were specifically asked by your advisor as to whether you were serious about pursuing this career path, and after careful consideration, the advisor spent a great deal of time trying to help you overcome the obstacles preventing you from making further progress and begun sourcing the relevant qualifications for your field.

Which involved searching for graduate schemes and sponsored programs that were suitable for you.

Even though you had applied for a position in investment analysis that required the CFA 1 which you did not possess and you took it a step further and miss represented this on your CV the advisor had the kindness and patience to understand your plight and tried to help you.

When asked as to why you were not able to genuinely pursue the CFA level 1 Certificate you explained that it was down to affordability and lack of funds to support this professional qualification.

Our Advisor, took the time to find you a less lengthy qualification that would enable you to meet the basic standards required for entry into this field and hopefully find you a company that would be willing to support candidates on the CFA Level 1 program should they be employed.

Our advisor in fact found you a level 4 certification program that was acceptable and also requested access to a recruiter training program whereby we have negotiated special rates with these institutions to help with financial assistance for people in need such as yourself.

We take our job very seriously and we detail every aspect of your candidacy which includes skill set, qualifications, and academic experience, including any prior work experience and professional qualifications that are required as all of this information has to be provided to our clients when we submit a candidates application for consideration for interview.

We find it incredibly disheartening that you would write such a review of our company after all the time and effort and the acts of kindness that we displayed to help you better yourself and further your career despite the dishonesty that you showed.

Regardless we wish you the very best of luck in your career and we genuinely hope you take a more honest approach to such a respected and professional industry.

We would strongly advise that you pay close attention to the term professional Integrity and ethics as it is a fundamental aspect of working in finance.

Kind regards

Unfortunately, we have no understanding of whom this post is referring too, our company is based in the UK and at this stage of the coronavirus we cannot operate our face to face services, therefore to keep our recruitment drives going we are all working independently from home in the UK.

Our London office will remain closed until it is deemed safe to do so by the health authorities at which time our face-to-face consultations and services will resume.

We have no idea as to why someone would write such a comment as it has no relation to City Placements in any way what so ever.
