Very poor service, after 4 weeks the compost hadn’t arrived, no response to messages, no phone number available. DON’T USE THIS FIRM

I've used Compost Direct compost in my raised veg beds for several years. I've always found the service and the product to be excellent with great results to be seen in my vegetables

I used Jubilee compost with added grit on my borders and its been ideal for improving soil structure and drainage in my heavy London soil. The texture is great and not over lumpy or too fine. My plants have established quickly and are showing good signs that they are happy. It is clearly a high quality professional grade product and I would happily use again.

Avoid. They did not make the delivery on the agreed day… they made no attempt to contact me… I had explained that I needed delivery on that particular day, as we had booked a team of gardeners to come. Not at all happy. The fact that there is no working telephone number to call is a “red flag”!

Previous delivery of 520kg of compost was by a 7 ton lorry that was able to reverse 50m off our narrow access road and leave next to house.
I gave the same instructions for this load and they dumped it outside our gate as they used a 12 ton lorry that couldn’t make the turn. Refused to answer emails requesting a smaller lorry to pick up and deliver to side of house as done previously. Phone number eventually located but rejected as invalid. As a pensioner I was forced to dig out the load and wheelbarrow to expected spot with help of a friend. Will never use them again.

We had no notification of when our two bags of Black Gold were going to be delivered so were out when the driver arrived. Despite instructions with the order not to block entrances or access tracks (we are in a rural setting) he left the pallets blocking both access to our property and the access road to the neighbouring farm. The company does not respond to emails and there is no phone number. I have now had to pay a local farmer to come to move the compost so we can get through our entrance gate. Please avoid using them. I would recommend Rocketgro and regret not using them this time.

I hate leaving poor reviews but on 5/12/24 I ordered a ton bag of compost- it still hasn't even been dispatched (12/12/24) there is no phone number to call that isn't rejected and CS don't answer emails. I'm starting to think this company may have stopped trading??

Ordered Tuesday delivered Friday superb service ( have used before ) top quality compost also, for lawn. Cannot understand other reviews say as experienced. Delivery driver excellent placed exactly where I wanted

Having read the reviews after I had ordered £250 worth of soil improver I wasn’t hopeful of receiving my order or if I did that it wouldn’t be any good.
Very pleasantly surprised, top quality product arrived within 7 days.

Confirming what many of the previous reviews have said. No delivery of product. No response to calls or emails. Giving them even 1 star feels legitimising! Have now ‘cancelled ‘ the order and are contacting PayPal to see whether a refund of the £165 is possible under buyer protection.
Wondering whether Paypal has a way to prevent them using their Ap/Service.
DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY.

Not my first go at this lot and won’t be the last. Organised criminals. Even to the extent of arranging late delivery via a transport firm to avoid the fraud office. miraculously they had no customer details when contacted. If they give an address at Warrington, they aren’t and never have been located there- ever.

Compost not as described and very poor quality.
Use this if you want to polute your garden, if not AVOID.

Described as 'A premium blend of fine soil improver and composted manure' and that it is made 'entirely from PAS100 certified composts'

The compost I received contains lots of plastic - bits of plastic bags (black and blue) and sweet wrappers and a long metal bar - all found within the top few inches. Who knows what else is in there.

I tried to communicate with the seller via paypal and via email and have not received a reply.

I bought this compost in good faith that I would get what was described. For my organic garden, it is unusable.

I wish I had read the reviews here first.

Update from Paypal: 'We've closed the case in your favour as the seller didn't respond in time. We've sent you a full refund of £165.00 GBP.'

Relieved I used paypal on this occasion.

I agree with previous comments about the quality of compost. It is appalling and full of plastic and other waste. I even found bits of what appeared to be car tail lights, cable ties and wire. This is not the quality I bought two years ago.
I have had no communication from customer service. AVOID . Do not buy from this company.

Update. I have now heard from this company with an apology and a refund.

AVOID! Wish I'd checked Trust Pilot this year before ordering. All good last 2 years but something has obviously happened to this company in the meantime. Inferior product and absolutely no communication.

Like others, I ordered from them before with no problem but this week on Tuesday I ordered for next day delivery. No confirmation email but money gone from my account. No phone number to ring. Found one online and it doesn’t work. Don’t reply to emails. UPDATE: now received my order of ‘Black Gold’. Except it isn’t Black Gold. It is full of shredded plastic, rubber, wire, and even a computer microchip. Hasn’t been screened and is full of twigs too. This is clearly Council recycled waste hence why it’s full of crap. Use a different company- I have asked for a refund and if I don’t get one I will be going to Trading Standards as they should not be in business.

Shocking took payment I have emailed 3 x and nothing from them. I will go to trading standards now. They should not be trading. Their customer service dept I guess is shut down

We have ordered a Black Gold Bulk Bag (apx 850L) for delivery. No contact about when it will be delivered. No phone number to contact them. Not responding to emails. Taken the money no goods. AVOID AVOID AVOID

Sadly I must also advise to avoid. They take the money but are not available by phone (disconnected) or email (don't respond) and don't deliver.

I’ve ordered from this company before without any problems, so I was confident ordering a bulk bag of Black Gold compost.
On arrival I was disappointed with the quality. The compost was full of wood, twigs, stone chippings and I even found a six inch metal nail on the surface.
I have sent three messages to the company with no reply. Like other contributors on this site, I tried to phone, but the number is disconnected.
I’m sure like other customers I cannot afford, particularly as an OAP, to be wasting £150 .
I have no idea what has happened to this company, but surely there must be a way to stop them from taking money for such an inferior product.
I only hope that others will read these comments before making a purchase.
One angry and disappointed OAP who wants her money back!

Ordered compost about 10 days ago. Didn’t receive a confirmation email. Contacted company via website as they do not make a phone number available. Received no response so assumed order had not gone through. As nothing had gone through on my credit card and I needed the compost quickly I ordered from another company. A week later I received a call from a delivery company to advise me that my compost would be delivered later that week. When I told them what had happened they asked me if I wanted to cancel the order. I said yes as I didn’t want two large bags of compost! Meanwhile a charge had gone through on my credit card and I now have to try and get my money back.
I have used Compost Direct successfully in the past but never again.
