Two breakdowns and two complete failures to supply the service I signed up for.
The first breakdown they refused to recover my car home and left the car 250 miles from my home at the start of the coronavirus lockdown. They also refused to recover me home which meant hiring a car. I made it home 9 hours after the car broke down at my Mother's funeral. I then had to pay for car repairs at a garage 250 miles away but ended up selling the car to webuyanycar.com as I'd had to buy another car in the meantime.
The second time was a flat battery and they refused to cover this and said a minimum charge of £98 would apply. As I write this my wife is still stranded 3 hours after the call.
We will be returning to the AA. They say you get what you pay for, but with Covermybreakdown you get nothing.

AVOID THIS COMPANY, toke them around 20mins to answer the phone. Was told it would be 60-90mins to come and fix my flat tyre. As they were taking around 2hrs to arrive i thought it might be quicker to ask a friend or realitive instead but was told i would have a cancelletion fee of £90 if i wanted that option so had to keep waiting. Overall wait of 3hrs to change my flat tyre to a spare one. Will be going back to AA who did this for me within 30mins!

Disgusting service. I broke down at 10pm at night they would not send anyone out to try and fix my car instead told me that I had to pay £150 on top of my policy for a recovery truck to get me home. I get a truck turns up after 45 mins later and takes me to a service station. It then took until 6:30am to get another truck to get me home in total 10 hours from breakdown until I get home. I was a female on my own left stranded by this company all night. Stay away from this company.

I'm a new customer looking to buy breakdown recovery. Before buying I always want to call and check what the small print says. Took just over seven minutes to answer and the woman I spoke to sounded like she did not want to be there at all, very drab tone of voice. I asked about a senario if I broke down and a local garage cant fix it, Would I be then towed home as that's what the website said? She said we would have to look at the circumstance on the day.... What?....This does not fill me with confidence at all. Alarm bells started to ring, and reading the other revies of customers having to pay excess milage to get home when they've already paid for nationwide recovery seems realy odd. So this is why I decided not to go with this company.

Quick and easy to buy. I was with the RAC but the renewal was 3 times more expensive to buy for the same cover, no brainer.

I broke down 129 miles from home & was told I would need to pay a mileage charge of £130 to get me & car home. I was surprised because I thought I was covered for recovery to home but I obviously didn’t read the small print. Anyway I paid & the first recovery guy came to pick me up, all fine & good communication from CMB. The plan was to meet the second recovery guy at Fleet services who would take me home to East London. When we were nearly at Fleet CMB called to say I was going to have to pay another £100 as they couldn’t find anyone to take me from Fleet to home. I was now going to need 2 more steps (Fleet to service station on M25, then that service station to home). Obviously I argued that I’d paid the mileage fee so shouldn’t have to pay anymore & I spoke to a supervisor but they wouldn’t budge & as I was already on my way I didn’t have any choice. I got home eventually but feel like I’ve been completely ripped off & definitely won’t be renewing my policy.

Very easy and quick to arrange breakdown cover. Much cheaper than our previous cover with RAC.

Make sure you double check your policy. My young son was left stranded and quoted bogus excess charges as the terms & conditions apparently didn't cover very much - if anything. The appalling Emergency Assist Ltd answer the phones (eventually) & they are about as helpful as a fish with a computer - which always says NO.
This is clearly not a proper breakdown service - my recommendation is to pay a bit more & go with AA/RAC or well known outfit - saving a few £ up front will come back to kick you when you are stranded & trying to get home.

I am currently calling to report a breakdown - I need assistance - have been calling for 94 minutes so far - this is absolutely unacceptable. Any advice anyone?

My stepdaughter called covermybreakdown as my car would not start when on holiday. She told them she left windshield wipers on overnight and they refused to help. She did not leave the key in the ignition so windshield wipers on the on setting would not drain the battery on this car. This is common sense. The battery was started by a kind farmer and the car shut down again and showed the engine light. They still refused to come out without her paying upfront citing that her “accident” of having windshield wipers setting on while car was off voided it. Absolutely appalling. Completely untrustworthy. Avoid at all costs

I signed up with CoverMyBreakdown a week ago.
The process was very smooth.
I asked the company three questions and they answered them quickly and accurately.
There's no excess and I'm allowed to call them out up to four times a year.

We used their recovery service when we got a flat tire. They answered the phone straight away. We don’t have a spare tire so they arranged for a tow truck to be sent. The communication was very good. I got multiple call backs to keep me updated. The tow truck driver was very friendly - he even dropped my wife off back home and took our car to the garage for us. I also got a call back afterwards to check everything was ok. Very happy with the service we received.

Been with cover my breakdown a number of years now, no issues. Only had to call them out 2 or 3 times but didn't wait too long. Good price for the the level of cover. Just wish they would cover cars over 14 or 15 years old.

I took out the cover in January 2021. I had the first breakdown request in February. The second one was on 19 April 2021. On both occasions the battery went flat. I was advised to take my car to nearby Halford for a technical check. The attendant from Halford said on both visits that the battery was in good condition. However, as the car was not on the road so much as it used to be before the lockdown hence the battery was going down. He advised me to take my car on a long drive. The following day on 20 April I went to a local shop. On my way back the battery was down again and so I called the rescue service. The assistant who answered the phone asked me if I had a written proof to show whether I went to Halford the day before. I said no and explained that no one ever advised me from the breakdown service to take such evidence. She said it was written in the policy and that I should have read the insurance documents. She said they had to take this breakdown as a private one and demanded a payment of £99 from me. (The breakdown policy cost me £52.86) I refused to pay. I had to buy a jump kit and with help of another driver I managed to come back home. On my way back I paid a third visit to Halford and this time I asked for proof from the attendant and he gave me one free of charge.

All members of staff either involved in making the breakdown claim or in assisting me were excellent, so helpful, positive and genuinely nice people. Waiting time for the road assistance was very short and when the mechanic arrived he was very helpful. I later received a call to check that everything went well and I was satisfied with the help I was given. Would definitely recommend.
