I am waiting for an invoice to pay for replacement key to a mail box. Over a week now. Have chased via phone and email. No progress.
Must be a huge challenge to issue an invoice...what about the rest...simply avoid!

DAD Boiler service

The engineer maintained contact with me during the morning of the service to let me know when he was likely to arrive which enabled me to plan my morning more effectively.
The service was carried out efficiently and the engineer answered my questions and explained what may have been causing the pressure in my boiler to drop and how to keep the water topped up as necessary.
He also checked the gas pipes into my gas meter to make sure that they were correct. All in all a really good service.

First time user - very impressed

I bought a Wowcher voucher for a boiler service via DAD. From the first contact with DAD, via a video call to allow their agent to view the boiler make and position, through to the completed service within a specified time period on a date to suit us, the entire experience was a very pleasant surprise. The engineer who serviced the boiler was friendly, polite and thorough. It was a bargain to find the Wowcher voucher and an even greater delight to use the services of DAD. I would have no hesitation in recommending DAD to anyone and will definitely use them again when the need arises.

Great service

The employees are reliable, trustworthy. You know you're getting a fair deal and the quality of the work is well controlled. I was also impressed by the cleanliness of the employee who took good care in cleaning the area after he had completed the work.

Avoid them like a plague while your money's in your pocket!

I contracted DAD to have some handyman and electrical work done in my new house before I move in.

They informed me they have different rates for handymen and electricians, with the electricians being more expensive, which is understandable and I had no qualms with the rate as I don't joke with electricals. On the day of the appointment for the 'Electrician', no one shows up at the appointed time. I had to call them to chase up before they finally sent someone on the day, luckily I was working from home so time was on my side.

After describing what needed to be done to this guy, one of which is to simply move a socket from one point to another (bare in mind the cabling and necessary works has been done by the builders) this 'Electrician' tells me my walls need to drilled to move the power from the live socket to the dead one. And I tell him, that's been done already by the builders but this guy insists my wall needs to be drilled and that's when I start to have my doubts and ask him, is he an Electrician? He tells me 'No, I'm a handyman' and I'm left stunned! And it was definitely obvious throughout his work that he truly was no qualified Electrician!

I felt so DUPED!

I called DAD and made my complaints to them, especially as the handyman did not fit the outside light properly as he should and they tell me they would look into it. Also queried them about the qualification of the 'Electrician' they claim they sent me and that I wanted proof of the guy's qualification as an electrician because they insisted he is one and charged me an Electrician's rate of £80/hr for three hours. And all he did was to move the socket (which he couldn't do anyways), fit two lighting on the landing and an external light, and fit one dimmer.

I eventually got a qualified Electrician to move this same socket and no drilling was needed! Plus fitting three dimmers and changing three sockets, this guy finished the job in an hour and charged only £90!

And to add salt to injury, it's been 3 months now and no one at DAD has had the decency to get back to me on my issue. And I will continue to tell as many people as I can to avoid this SHAM of a business as much as possible for as long as I live or they remain in business.

I can see that in this situation we reached out to a third party during a period of high demand in November, who has not met the level of care we insist on for our jobs. I understand this doesn't help the frustration you have experienced here but I will be in touch with them directly to look at remedying this situation.

Further I apologise for not keeping communications open with you throughout this process. I can see that we actively pursued this one at the time but did not arrive at a satisfactory conclusion. As we didn't hear back from you we had assumed that the matter had been finalised but I see here your expectation was for further investigation into the issue, which I will re-open and conclude fully this time around.

I earnestly hope we can regain your trust through this process as it is this poor communication in the industry we are trying to address, if there is anything further I can do to improve this situation, or for any further work you require, you have my direct email or can always use support@dad.co to contact our customer service team. I will be keeping an eye on this one directly either way.

Boiler Service - very impressive

I received a boiler service from DAD (at a very competitive £65) and I was very impressed with all aspects of the DAD service.

On calling up, I spoke with a very friendly engineer over their video-calling service and it only took him 5 or so minutes to confirm that they would be happy to come round to boiler my service.

Within the hour an email confirmation came through and we confirmed the date of the service.

I was very impressed with the engineer (Steve) who came to service the boiler and he completed the work within half an hour.

I wish you the best of luck as a company. As someone who works in IT Project Management I think the idea is fantastic and I'm sure you'll succeed in the years ahead.

Do not go with this company....Beware

It is totally waste of time. Dont even think to go with this company. I already show them on phone video chat what work I need and they send someone who was completely unprofessional.
I needed an electrician to fix the nest 3rd gen thermostat and programmer for heater. So I ring DAD and the gentlemen Marc did tell me that he will send some electrician for that. Electrician came and told me that he needs half a day to fix it and he was told only one hour job. I took a day off from work and electrician said he had another important jobs to do. He was on phone for first 15 minutes and then he just fixed the old programmer. Even that programmer is not working properly and they way wiring is done is totally unprofessional. For one hour job they asking me to pay 2 hours money. This is completely annoying. I will have to ask local electrician to fix it before the programmer stops working again in such cold days. Completely waste of time and money
sorry but I can not give any positive review due to the service I received. I will not recommend anyone to go with DAD in future.

I'm sorry to hear that this has been a negative experience overall, we aim to fulfill all our customers Home Maintenance requirements with a high level of care and service, and it is disappointing for me to hear that you don't feel you have experienced that.

I was originally very pleased to see that our team was able to respond to your initial enquiry quickly, pulling out the stops for a next day appointment to get your heating back up and running. I'm glad to hear that we were able to restore heating and hot water to your home.

I understand that it was your expectation we could get the new unit fitted in the time allocated. As we discussed on the phone earlier, this would be a pretty straight forward job to do given a 'usual' setup behind it. Unfortunately when our technician got under the hood and saw the situation, it was noted that a significant amount of preparatory work would be required to mend and replace wiring damaged by a previous attempt to install the new unit. I understand you discussed this on site and elected to fix the original programmer as a temporary solution, while a complete fix was spec'ed and quoted, which is the work we've provided.

Also as discussed earlier, we are keen to invoice only for the work we've completed, if the technician was only on site for an hour this is what you will be charged. I've requested the time stamps from our Ops department and will feed back with the findings either way. Happy to say that in either case the promotional credit will be applied, reducing the overall cost of the job.

I hope this helps smooth your frustration at not having the new unit in place by now, I'll continue to monitor this job and hope to have the Nest in place as soon as possible.

Excellent service and value for money

He did all three jobs very efficiently and also tidied up after each job. He then helped me lift something heavy before leaving, which wasn't even on the schedule of jobs! I highly recommend this service and without a doubt would use them again.

Great Service

Overall I have had a good experience with DAD. Paul came and sorted out a wall in my flat to a very high standard. There were some minor issues with the paint colour on a few odd spots that were touched up after the wall was done but Paul got in touch with me directly when I raised this as the error wasn't noticeable at first. He scheduled someone to come back and rectify the situation. Ravi came and fixed the areas also to a very good standard! There are few companies who would honour a guarantee on work done but I had no problems with DAD and wouldn't hesitate to recommend them. Paul and Ravi were very understanding about everything. From a safety perspective DAD takes this seriously as well and you will always know who to expect at your door and what time with the option of setting up a password if you wish. Thanks guys.

Not great!

I called & spoke to a 'Dad' who advised that he might be able to repair the item.
The next day an email from Laira appeared who suggested that I needed 2 hours work at £50 per hour (Task Rabbit is £38) then advised £20-40 of wood parts that may be needed to fix the item. There was nothing made of wood on the piece, so confused I wrote back & asked if she could check again. Her reply was the same response about purchasing wood parts. Again, I asked if she could check as there were no wood parts mentioned on the phone call. As yet I've received no reply.
I'm hoping that this is just a teething hiccup as the idea is good.

I've looked into your video call and other messages with the team and can see that there was a disconnect in our communications. Our expert Lee advised that the runner had become detached and bent out of shape, and would need to be replaced. He left a note that the call would be reviewed by our office staff and a solution presented and discussed with yourself.

On review our Operations team saw it as highly unlikely to source the correct replacement, I believe one fix had already been attempted with a different style of runner which had caused the current issue. However, our skilled Handymen would be able to fashion a working substitute from hard wood, hence the quote for wood parts. I see this wasn't clear from our following messages, which has been fed back to our Customer Service team.

It's a little embarrassing for us that such a small error has caused so much ill feeling, at DAD we take pride in resolving every customer issue so if you'd like to proceed with this work, or any other, please get in touch. Unfortunately we can't move much on price, which we quote including VAT and believe are rock bottom for trained, vetted professionals, but if there were other small tasks we could help with we'd be happy to include a little extra time free of charge.

Good Service

I would definitely use this company again. My daughter needed some work done in her bedroom, she found a company online called Dad.co. The company was just brilliant, especially because of the video link, you can show the expert what needs doing within your home, saving time with regards to not having to wait for someone to come round to your property first. The Dad expert that did the work in my daughters room was called Ricky he was quick,efficient, friendly and most importantly, he did a good job. Thanks Dad.co :o)
