Good price. Good quality doors. Fitter was excellent. Faster timescale than we thought too.

I have purchased an oak stable door with frame. The frame came as a hardwood, when and this was not specified in the order. The expectation would be when you order a frame, that is £180, to be similar material. I had to go to chain diy store and buy an oak frame for 30% less to finish off the door.
The quality for such a product is not there. The detail is there, but the finish is lacking. I.e. middle cut for the top and bottom leaf was not cut straight as one example. Overal, I would not recommend or buy again.

Order process on line was straightforward and simple - even for me- door delivered promptly and in good condition. Not five stars coz of price! But where else do you go for such good quality....?

Great service. Excellent quality and when an issue was found with a missing seal, the matter was resolved and the seal sent which is now fitted. Very pleased.

Door was great and was fitted well. When it needed to be adjusted it down quickly

Oak with a side of Wood Worm
Disappointed doesn't start to describe the service I have received from Daves Doors.

I purchased solid oak doors, internal and external.

The solid oak external frame came with signs of wood worm. For a company whose products are pretty woody, this is pretty basic stuff.

Contact was next to impossible and when I did get a reply it was 2-3 days later and a one liner. Not great given the tight deadlines of a small renovation project and the concerns I expressed of what I have received. Overall it's put me back a week waiting for a replacement frame.
The phone rang off the hook when trying to get in contact and the chat bot (offline but I was assured it was online 24/7) was impossible.

The eventual email reply was basic and given the severity of the topic and product showing signs of a wood worm infestation, the response did nothing to put my mind at ease by assuring me it had been treated.

The replacement frame turned up and guess what... more signs of wood worm. I've been able to make 1 complete frame out of the two but not great quality control and to be frank, a total lack of consideration from the supplier.

Given that I have wood in the house, wooden floors, wooden furniture and now some nice new wooden oak doors and frames, hopefully all remain healthy.

Visually nice products, timely delivery, sh*7 customer service and a little expensive for wood worm and headaches.

Below are an example of the smarmy responses I have received from the proprietor of Daves Doors. I had left it at that and moved on until I received the suppliers response, who obviously thinks that after including my name will spook me into amending my review as appears to have worked in the past.
Not once was I assured through email or a follow up phone call that it was ok or that the wood worm had been treated.

"I wouldn't be too concerned with this..

I obviously haven't seen the frame in person and will certainly forward your concern to our supplier however the images all appear to be on the back of the products, and in individual separate staves of the engineered timber.
It is very common in raw pre-milled timber and I would expect these to be historic from before the timber was seasoned and manufactured into a frame."

My reply;
"Thanks for getting back to me.

Im afraid I dont agree with you in this one. While yes, it is on the back, it is still wood worm and with wooden floor, wooden furniture, some of which is antique. I see absolutely no reason why, having paid good money, I should take the risk in inviting wood worm into my home. Given the value of some of our pieces, we are extremely careful about bringing wood into the house.

It doesn't matter if its in seperate staves... wood worm is wood worm and remains dormant for part of the year. Suggest some extra curricular activities would benefit on this topic.

While you "expect" and are taking the liberty of making assumptions, I will leave the risk sit with you and have filed these under my risk file should I have an issue down the line. I hope not and I remain disappointed at your lacks approach to this matter.

PS rotten door frame is still here.
This will be used as firewood if not collected by 16th Sept."

"I think you may have misread or even misunderstood my previous email. 22 years time served cabinet maker with a Diploma in handcrafted furniture manufacturing here, there is not a great deal more 'extra curricular' activity available I'm afraid.

If you are as knowledgeable on the subject as you claim to be and have such priceless antiques I do wonder why you are installing a budget 'off the peg' frame? Feel free to keep the other frame for fire wood. It maybe in your interest to burn both frames and invest a little more for something more substantial, manufactured by a local cabinet makers..."

I've truly never experienced anything like it...

EDIT October `22: Following my disappointing review above, it now transpires that the "solid door" advertised on the website as "Mexicana / Dordogne Oak Pre Finished Interior Door Solidly constructed oak door, with a strong linear design" appear to have an oak veneer which is now delaminating in places on the edges. Door is not solid Oak as one is led to believe from the description.

I have provided both evidence of my order and confirmed that your company is the company I purchased door and frames from. Note the verified symbol on the review.

You can continue to attempt to bully your way out of this poor review on this or any of the other review sites ive used but it will not work as it may have done on the others.
The world needs to know who they are dealing with and what they can expect from this company.

Recently purchase 5 doors from Dave's Doors. Decided that we were going to change two of them that we purchased for an alternative, our choice.

They arranged to collect the two we wanted to change and delivered the new ones. We made a payment error that they refunded immediately.

The quality of the doors was excellent, delivered exactly when they said they would.

Top class business and service, helpful and patient. I could not recommend them enough.

There seems to be reasonable prices and a certain amount of standard style front doors but please could there be affordable more modern styles.
