Company details

  1. Freight Forwarding Service

Written by the company

The Daygard Logistics Group of Companies include NVOCC’s Freight Movers International (“FMI”) and Cargo Movers International (“CMI”), as well as customs clearance division, Daygard Clearances (“DGC”) In 2003, FMI was formed to primarily handle imports from China and by 2004 FMI had expanded to include imports and exports to/from many areas. Over time, strong relationships have been built with some of the biggest agents in their respective countries, leading to substantial year-on-year growth, and this led to the formation of CMI and then the formation of our Customs clearance brand DGC In the years since it was formed, the Daygard Logistics Group has become one of the largest independent NVOCC’s in the UK covering all major trade lanes and with more direct weekly services than most in the market. A major difference between Daygard and its competitors is that the majority of cargo handled by the FMI and CMI brands are on terms controlled in the UK, meaning better control of the charges the clients pay.

Thank you all for your help

Thank you all for your help, guidance and fantastic service. As a result of the service you all provide we are insisting that all Chinese agents direct shipments via Daygard.

Dayguard have looked after all of our…

Dayguard have looked after all of our Imports, Exports and Warehousing for over 10 years and are an integral partner for our Clothing business. They bend over backwards to support us and on the rare occasion when things don't go to plan (as of course happens with Logistics) they are always there with the personal touch to put things right. A first class operator and great value for money.

Avoid

Avoid - ask your supplier to book another company. We had 3 shipments all with mysterious extras that on challenging were reduced. We arranged for our freight company to collect - they make this difficult with bizar paperwork -eg trucks get turned away because they have the wrong number plate. An excuse to charge rip off "Storage fees". An altogether tiresome and unpleasant experience.
You have been warned.

Did their job well. Every one is expensive.

In reality all companies charge an arm and a leg to import goods. Its the same whoever I deal with.
So my 4 stars are based on how the compared to others. I had no issues dealing with them. They were polite and courteous and quick to deal with the paperwork.

Surely what you are doing is Illegal

21/01/20: Surely what you are doing must be illegal and if it is a loophole you should have some common decency to look after customers or they will never use you again.
Unknowingly,my shipper sent a pallet using Dayguard.
They sent me an email in December which I did not see as it went to spam which means other peoples must do too.
So no proof of read receipt.
When the goods apparently arrived I was not contacted or made aware of their arrival by anyone.
They say it is not their obligation to contact me on arrival of goods.
Unknowingly, weeks pass and then I get a message from the sender in the early Morning of Friday the 17th January saying I need to contact Daygard as my goods have arrived and need to have Taxes and duties paid for. OK, So I call Daygard, they then tell me the goods arrived on the 1st of Jan but they would reduce the cost so I would have to pay from 13th-22nd till tomorrow (not fair) because they cannot clear the goods quicker whilst they charged me the following:
£330 for STORAGE FROM13/01-22/01(7 FREE DAYS + 40% DISCOUNT)("it's not even 22nd yet and they were closed over the weekend")
£75 for CLEARANCE
£35 USE OF DEFERMENT FACILITY(???)
£30 Charge Description Amount Currency ROE VAT Charge Total (???)
£70 LCL TERMINAL HANDLING CHARGE(part of clearance)
£100 UK DOCUMENTATION FEE 1(too much)
£60 CISF(???)
£27.39 IMPORT DUTY
£156.07 IMPORT VAT
they also wanted £135 for LCL HAULAGE / DELIVERY-BASED ON UNDER 120 CM

I said I'll come and pick it up myself to avoid any further charges.
Now I have to travel the the other side of the country for a parcel that was supposed to have been delivered.

Surely this process if unfair and unlawful.

At worst case I should have been charge from the 17th not the 13th if at all.
They said "well if we spent our time contacting everyone when the goods arrived we would not be able to do it, so we don't"

That is not a good enough reason to warrant robbing me by holding my goods to ransom with the threat of further storage charges.

That in the UK is what we call extortion.

So, I have just paid £883.46 for goods costing me £582.95.

I am appealing to whoever runs this Daygard Group Reviews to kindly please reimburse me for the 5 days I wrongfully being charged for and explain why your charges are so high.
I have been told that charges will not increase now I have paid.
Very worrying indeed.
I want the £330 back and charges reduced please, it's just not fair to do that to me.

I am still waiting to see if I can get my goods released tomorrow whilst they continue to potentially charge. I have yet to see if my goods have arrived undamaged. I will update.

Please help. Please be fair.
And don't crucify me more for writing this because I am caught in your red tape.
Kind regards.

P.S. Also, really? just seen a post below here from a Phillip Seaman, blatant fail of a fake review attempt by your company. Why would someone post yeah really good company sorted all my paperwork when he won't know about the charges he would unknowingly receive???

OUTCOME: After sending more details to them, and to another company who was holding the goods on their behalf on my behalf, I was told the earliest I would be able to pick it up was Friday 24th January because they were so busy. When I picked the goods up, after chatting to people there, in conversation they said that "I would not have been able to pick it up sooner anyway goods from that cargo shipment, because so many have been waiting till now to pick up " jokingly like it was something funny. So it turned out that I would not have been able to pick it up till the 24th anyway and they were just charging me whatever they thought they could squeeze out of me. I will be reporting it.
Dodgy company and I feel sorry for the nice girl I spoke to working there who knows she's doing wrong working there doing that to people.
You have been warned people. Be careful with this lot. They will hold your goods to ransoms you may not be aware of.

Con artists of the worst kind

Con artists of the worst kind. If your goods manage to get entangled with this lot, they will charge you an extortionate rate ASAP, and then keep threatening and ratcheting up the rapidly mounting costs in the hope that someone panics and just pays. The days of businesses like this being in existence should be long gone - come on internet, do your job.

Awful!

Awful!

I dealt with this company and they are a complete rip off. As everyone else here has commented, they conveniently don't inform you about storage fees and then send you a big bill for it without your knowledge (at which point they have you over a barrel). I won't be using them again.

Awful experience

Awful experience
They take ages to explain the charges!
Then they tell you one charge and invoice you for several other things afterwards.
Then they tell you your free time runs out at the weekend but you can’t collect before Monday which automatically incurs a £165 day storage fee.
To be avoided at all costs

One to avoid!

First time importing goods internationally so wasn't sure what to expect about the process. Dayguard make the process exhausting and stressful.

Very kean to get you to pay the £90 a day storage charges when it is themselves holding up the process with slow responses.

Two falied attempts to delivey my goods when paying for a timed deliery, even thought two confirmations by email of date and time. Goods did not arrive on pallets! Communication between dayguard and the delivery company does not exist.

Lessons learnt here
1) Dont use dayguard find a local reliable agent
2) Request unpacking date
3) Don't use their delivery service.
