Great training in comm-guiding by Josh

Great training in guiding by Josh with the wonderful Janet kindly trusting and allowing us to guide her. Charlie was also great, helpful to see comm-guiding in action. Informative and fun training, want to do more. Highly recommend.

DeafBlind interpreter course

I met, shadowed supported and worked with DeafBlind clients as part of my fun, but serious, Interpreter guide training. Learning effective communication adaptations and methods whilst polishing up linguistic knowledge and guiding skills. The team at DBE are caring, friendly and knowledgeable and are fantastic at training us.

I think it's very helpful I am a level 6 BSL student and I have learnt a lot being on this course. The teachers Josh and Debbie have been amazing and are patient. It's not just about theory and writing it's also practical here at DBE..

Specialist Assessment Course

The course was professional but taught in a friendly and timely manner. Nothing was too much trouble. Having to wear simulation glasses and ear defenders made me vulnerable but made me see life from a different perspective

Dedicated, trustworthy and highly trained staff, compassionate and dedicated to their work

Highly trained and skilled, dedicated and compassionate support for deaf-blind needs. DBE have supported my mother for many years, and encourage and help her to live an independent life, as well as being there when she needs them for appointments and medical emergencies. Through the events that DBE organise I have met many of the staff and people that they support, and I always have huge admiration for what they enable people to achieve. The smiling faces and positive outlook of the people they support tells the whole story. The staff are so dedicated that they become friends too, I have only positive experiences of DBE.

DBE team are outstanding

DBE team are outstanding, nothing is to much trouble . They overcome all barriers and are excellent in communication. My elderly mum of 94 is a service user and every time they assist her getting to her appointments, I know she is happy and in safe hands. It takes some of the stress out of a difficult time in her life as they have that personal touch. Many thanks and keep up the good work ladies.

This service has been essential for my…

This service has been essential for my Father in Law with providing transport to his appointment but more importantly to ensure he has someone at these appointments to make sure he understands what is happening, what is said and then sorting any follow ups as and when required. The team have provided this service for many years with him and built up a fantastic trust relationship with him for which I am extremely grateful.

This is an essential service for us.

Great training provider

The course I attended was well organised. The trainer (Josh) was very experienced and knowledge with Deafblind needs, laws etc.
The course was a mixture of classroom and out in the community.
In the classroom, handouts were provided. On enrolling on to the course my needs were noted if I required printed matter adapting to my own needs.
Out in the community in simulation of being Deafblind, I had the opportunity to try out what it was like being blind using a white cane. Plus using escalators being Deafblind wearing blindfold and ear defenders. At ALL times I was made to feel safe.
Tea, coffee and biscuits were provided. I can't stress enough, just how friendly the team were and will be attending more training through Deafblind Enablement.

One of my favourite courses

The Level 2 DBG communicator guide course I enrolled in covered various aspects of deafblindness, including communication methods, assistive technologies, and strategies for supporting individuals with dual sensory impairments. The course was designed to provide communicator guides with a deep understanding of the challenges faced by people who are deafblind and how to facilitate their inclusion and independence in society.

I highly recommend it to anyone seeking to expand their horizons and make a positive impact in the lives of individuals who are deafblind.
