Huge is not at all Huge
Huge is not at all Huge
The new trackball I bought was from Elecom in Japan and though the name of it is HUGE it is not made for huge hands; not even for medium hands. It is perfectly sized for my little 9 year old girl. A piece of foam to make the hand rest larger and it almost works for my size 7½ – 8 glove hands.
Contrary to what is very often mentioned on YouTube the original synthetic red sapphire bearings are not bad. In Low sensitivity setting it is perfect for a 24” monitor full 1080p HD, just a push on the ball and it rolls from one side of the monitor to the other, in Mid setting functions great with a 4K monitor, so believe in High setting it will be just what 8K monitors need. The ball runs smooth, the scroll wheel is OK, right- and left-click, forward and backward are functioning without programming them.
Having software running to be able to use the 3 FN programmed is not for me, should have been made so they could be programmed without having extra software installed and running.
All in all an OK trackball for small hands from factory, had it been tilted a bit to the right side (35 - 40 degrees) so hand would be resting better but will have to use it a week or so to see if hand can get used to the slightly new position. After having used it a while I see that it needs to be tilted at least to 45 degrees in order not to give carpal tunnel syndrom.
Had they called it Trackball without the word HUGE, I would have given 2 stars, as big it is, almost as big as the perfect Logitech TRACKMAN MARBLE FX T-CJ12 and Logitech Cordless TrackMan FX M/N RA17 but having that name and fitting a hand size X-small – small that made me buy the trackball and now I have to modify it in order to use it without getting pain in my wrist.
Follow up to review of the Huge trackball.
Still smooth and great to work with. Those mentioning it does not roll well must have received second quality as this one is as smooth as the best of the old from Logitech that unfortunately no longer are made. It is very small for a ”HUGE” but when placing it on a tilting material it is OK to work with for longer periods. No trackball will ever come up to the perfection of the old Logitech T-CJ12 TrackMan Marble FX that I could work with continuously 12 – 14 hours without wrist pain. Wish somebody would copy that. It was not bigger but made for bigger hands, it was corded but should not move around but stay firmly so no problem there.
Conclusion: the HUGE is not recommended as though I find it is the very best available trackball made now it will give you Carpal Tunnel Syndrom after using it a relatively short time.
