A little to no help
No informations given. Too long to answer any request via email. Reservations refused without any explanations and for a location that is still available.

I haven't seen the room in real life yet but ...
I'm happy to found a room with erasmusu because I spoke with someone realy reactive and the fees are not overdone, between 150 and 200 euros for a 400-500 euros room. The system is easy to understand and there are a lot of choises.
Bookings with no follow up for 60+ hours
I had booked with Spotahome for my first trip in Belgium for an internship, which went actually very well. My internship was unexpectedly extended (nice!), but that left me with about a month notice to find a new place to live--which we know can be tricky since good places are booked FAST.
Despite having to go way out of my budget range to find something decent at this point in time, I found two places that answered all of my criteria (which were very, very low). I applied to both of them, knowing that when one approved, the other would be cancelled automatically.
However, it did not go as smoothly as I had hoped, or as smoothly as it went for my initial booking. After three whole days (72 hours), I still had no answers as if I was approved or not for booking 1. Meanwhile, the good options were disappearing very quickly. So I applied to booking 2. They took their whole 24hrs to refuse my booking, which is ultimately their decision, whatever. However, when I browsed again the listings to find an alternative, imagine my suprise when I found the appartment listed again for 230€ more than the price I requested to book. Again, whatever, but I feel like it's very disingenuous for these owners to make such a move, considering Spotahome mostly targets students/young professionals. I was not impressed.
Booking 1 was still showing no sign of life and my request to spotahome to follow up with me was left unanswered. By that time, most of my alternative options were already booked. I applied to another booking then, which was accepted, but I'm left paying twice the rent I'm paying right now.
I believe there was a serious lack of actual follow up in this situation that could have been avoided. I understand sometimes it takes a bit longer, but if you put on your website that landlords have 24hrs to accept, then they should have 24hrs, maybe a bit longer if it's during the weekend (in my case, I requested to book on a Tuesday afternoon and still have no response on Friday afternoon). But 72hrs+ is unacceptable if you're dealing with a customer base that in most case need a quick answer on accomodation. And if they were just waiting for me to get approved elsewhere, then it's even worse.
It's disappointing, since I had such a good experience the first time around. I think from now on I will only recommend Spotahome if you start looking MONTHS in advance so no matter how long it takes you still have a good selection left. This was a very stressful experience and the lack of communication was atrocious.
Very quick and efficient
Very quick and efficient
I started looking for my room right after getting my internship confirmation and from all of my reasearch Erasmusu was by far what felt like the most secure way to book it. I got in touch with the landlord immediatly after my confirmation was confirmed and can now safely say I have a room for march already.
Very clear and useful
Very clear and useful. Quick answer and nice advice !
No response from landlord after accepting
I don't like that I was charged a reservation fee when the landlord never responded to my after she confirmed my reservation. The one star is for not having any checks and balances to ensure the landlord contacts the tenant after they accept the request and even after the initial deposit is made.
Awful experience
I turned to Erasmusu because I was desperate to find accommodation abroad, since my first option got cancelled last minute, and it was one of the worst experiences I have ever had. If you want to request the booking of a place, be ready to pay the first month rent + an exorbitant fee even without seeing the place first nor signing a contract. Several of the rooms/flats that are advertised on the site haven't been checked or verified, which means that they might not look like they do on the pictures - that's what happened to me, I arrived in a room that had little to nothing to do with the pictures I saw online and that was in a pretty bad state. However, when I decided to cancel the booking because it was not what they had promised, they refused to refund any money. Moreover, their landlords are suppossed to be professional, but that was not the case with mine: it was pretty much impossible to contact him until the day of the check-in - with all the stress that entails -, and he was unprofessional and rude in several occassions. The customer service, on the other hand, it's non-existent: prepare to be ghosted until you cannot take it anymore. Overall, an awful experience from the beginning, so please, if you can avoid it, do so. I
Lives up to the expectation
Erasmusu is perfectly able to live up to the expectations of the users. I got a little scared seeing the reviews on their partner Spotahome, but that turned out to be no big deal at all. I arrived at my address 2 days ago and it's completely accurate to the description on the site. Although the communication with the landlord was difficult at times, Erasmusu was able to help me through all of it. Great stuff!

My experience with Erasmusu was great
My experience with Erasmusu was great, they kept a smooth communication between me and the landlord. I received all answers o my questions in less than 24H.
I truly recommend Erasmusu.
Do not trust them
I thought I was making a request to see if the apartment was available and if I could get in contact with the landlord. Instead it got booked straight away without me knowing it would, so I booked by mistake and wanted to cancel my booking. I got in contact with them but I got no answer. They also say that no money will be withdrawn from the account until the booking has been confirmed by the landlord. This is absolutely not true, immediately when I noticed this I wanted all my money back. If I can't have my money back after a mistake booking that has accidentally been accepted, this is definently one of the worst sites ever. I also have not signed any type of contract which means it is MY money and I should get my money back, especially since I contacted them about the problem less than 30 minutes after booking. If I get my money back I will take this post down. They seem so helpfull with everything but as soon as it comes to cancelation and refunds there is always radio silence according to other people. This is very unprofessional. Would not recommend and be careful if you book. I've seen that some people have been satisfied, but I certainly haven't been. Please give me my money back.
Not all good, but if you know the rules its a good platform.
I didn't like the procedure of booking:
-It would be nice to book something, get the "yes" from the landlord and then confirm again. It was very unpleasant getting withdrawn a middle three digit amount via paypal out of "nowhere". I felt scammed.
-The booking fee is very high and I think when the booking gets confirmed it's okay, but not in the case of cancellation! Maybe half if I cancel would be reasonable.
-I was kind of surprised to not get the contract before paying first rent + fee. Don't I need to know what I am paying for/opting into? Since I was dependent on your website, because of my studies abroad, I did it anyway, but not with a great feeling.
Good parts:
-kind of transparent rent + conduminium fees
-Very good check-videos by spotahome!
Scam
They told me I could cancel for free 2 days before the check-in, and they are making me pay the whole fee. This is unacceptable... the worst system ever. They won't tell you some things so you "fall into the trap" and they scam you
Should I go to the police?
Dear Customer Experience Team,
I have asked you several times to cancel my booking V1P295-X6. First time was 26.07.2023. Today is the last day with the possibility to cancel the reservation without transferring the rent for the first month to the landlord. Now I once again made a cancellation request through the site. I strongly demand that the amount of 900 euros be returned to me immediately. I don't understand why my request is not processed for several days, you claim that you work seven days a week!
Best regards,
Elena Maslova
Dissapointing
Dissapointing. Although service was ok, required to pay for the entire month even though payments are fortnightly. Was also recommended that most renters want the whole month paid. Website advertises happily that rent is only paid for the time you are there. This is not true.
